I would go to ND and whoever was having huge games that year. For instance, Alabama/LSU this year.
That would be my first instinct.
But then again, i would be annoyed as hell with all the reporters and coaches and fans calling and texting and facebooking me and tweeting me ALL THE DAMN TIME so if I knew that ND was for me I'd end the madness right there. But that's my personality. Some dudes LOVE the attention.
I've said this story inthe past, and I think it's relevant here. My wife and I were at our honeymoon in Hawaii, in line for some breakfast nook for 40 minutes b/c the food was supposedly insane (it was). A dude behind me is on his cell phone talking about football. So when he hangs up, I say eff it, and ask him what he does for a living. He's a h.s. coach in Oregon. Get to talking to him, and the previous year he was the coach at Loyola H.S, the h.s. nearest the elementary school where I teach. SO we have a lot to talk about.
Anyway, we start talking about Anthony Barr, who was his star and was choosing between ND and UCLA. He said having a player recruited by ND was a nightmare for him. He said that the amount of reporters calling him was non-stop. It was insane. Think about it: ISD, 24/7, II, IrishEyes, IrishSportsReport, Lemming, the 2 Chicago papers, the South Bend Tribune. It's crazy when you think about it. I told him that other schools also have a lot of website, but he was adamant that no school was like ND.
So if you think it's hard for a coach, it's gotta be hard for a player as well.
