My bad, I wish DC no harm just commenting on his playing history.
Go Irish

No worries, didn't seem like you meant any harm. And the question is certainly understandable. Just figured we'd nip that conversation there before it went down that path. Go Irish!

Personally I think Wisconsin would be the better fit.But at KU he knows the system and the head coach.

Charlie Weis wins over fieldhouse crowd | KUsports.com

Quarterback Dayne Crist, whom Weis recruited to Notre Dame, was in Lawrence for a visit Saturday. Crist, a former top-5 prospect who spent the past four seasons with the Fighting Irish, sat with the rest of the football recruits in the student section behind the south goal. Because the 6-foot-4, 235-pound pro-style QB with one year of eligibility remaining is scheduled to graduate from Notre Dame this month, NCAA rules permit him to transfer and play for one more year at a new school without having to sit out first. Reports have indicated that Crist has narrowed his final choices to Kansas and Wisconsin.

Photos in the Lawrence Journal World of Dayne at the game. He was buried among the other recruits, but he was there.

And...we knocked off #2 Ohio State (without Sullinger, but a heck of a win either way).

I hope that he is the best thing that happened to KS. We always thought that he had the "it" factor to make it. Again, good luck to DC.

Me too. People here think he's a slam dunk star. I hope they're right.

It would be great for him to end up in the offense that he had been groomed to take over. And it would be great for the next QB at KU to learn under him.

Rock Chalk!!

(That's for you BGIF).

Again, I agree with your statement. I hope that he crushes it where ever he goes. With CW at the helm and DC at the QB position, KS should have a great O. Not sure about the D side of the ball, though.

That's the buzz in Lawrence. People are very hopeful that he'll end up here. We have a load of dual-threat guys on board or committed. Dayne would give an opportunity for Charlie to groom the next guy, whoever that might be.

I hope he lands in Kansas because of Weis/Powlus.

I think it is a really tough choice. KU has the coach and the system; WU has a far better team and a real shot at the next rose bowl and perhaps, the NC.

Tough choice. We have to remember that it is not only a football decision. He has to do a graduate program that Notre Dame doesn't have. Might as well take this opportunity to do something worthwhile.

As a ND and KU fan I would love for whatever 5th year candidates ND has that don't get an offer w/ the Irish to end up in Lawrence w/ Charlie. Easy fit, the guy recruited them, and lord knows the Jayhawks could use an influx of talent.

What does Wisconsin's QB depth chart look like behind Wilson? If they really want Dayne and are prepared to make him the 2012 Wilson, then that's where he should go, simply because of the exposure. Winning a B1G title/ Rose Bowl would do wonders for his draft stock.

But if there's a serious chance that Dayne might not win the job at Wisconsin versus a talented underclassmen already on their roster, he oughta go to Kansas. There's little doubt in my mind that he'd be Charlie's guy next year.

Exposure is nice, but Dayne absolutely cannot risk losing his job to an underclassmen again.

he'd be competing with Jon Budmayr, who was injured last year. i would like to see him at KU from a comfort perspective. charlie will provide him with an opportunity and he'll be mentally comfortable with his coaches, which should help translate to better play on the field barring injury.

What a tough decision... If he goes to Wisconsin all he'll have to do in hand the ball off, maybe throw a few times. At Kansas he will have already had experience in the offense CW runs and he will throw the ball more. If he wants to go to the NFL I would say go to Kansas. CW will prepare him more!

I like his chances better w/ chuck.

He knows Charlie's system, he knows Charlie, he won't be looking over his shoulder, he has a couple RBs that should be able to take some stress off of him, yet clearly aren't the heart of Charlie's scheme like in Wiscy. I don't know what they have at WR and TE, but they are Div 1 talent, so they should be serviceable, and motivated knowing what charlie is/does.

I think Dayne sees all this and goes KU...if he does anything at all at KU, he'll be seen....look at all the names that won't be QBs in college next year...for all the **** luck this kid has had, the stars are aligning for him to have a season that puts him in the conversation for the combine...

Jayhawks got the right situation for him...hands down IMHO.

I agree. If Crist plays at Kansas, he knows Charlie will do anything to help him to have a great year to increase his NFL stock. I think Crist will help Weis in recruiting for 4 star or 5 star QB so it is a win-win situation for both of these guys.

I just read something online today and it was reported that Weis visited Crist yesterday in South Bend. Sounds like Weis is recruiting him hard.

Ah...I knew chuck would be all over Heaps...I think he'll go to Kansas as well, knowing he has to sit a year anyway, he'll step in right behind Crist...too sweet.

I'm happy for Chuck but he can get the hell out of SB now...:)

If Charlie get them both then it is a major boost for the football program. It's nice to see him being proactive in recruiting. That's what Charlie is so good at. I hope he doesn't steal some of the recruits we are after. I understand it's part of the game.

I don't think he will be able to steal any recruits we are after. I do think he will recruit very well in the midwest though. I think MIZZOU and K STATE will take the biggest hit from him being at Kansas. I just wish they would still play MIZZOU every year and kick their ***!
