A lot of this is contained within the Recruiting List and Who's Likely Next? threads but I think it deserves consolidation to stop a lot of repeated questions/misinformation on this board. In the end, I hope this is informative and saves people time in routinely responding to the same questions like "when will Gunner decide?" Please feel free to add on and offer corrections/insight/opinions below.

Notre Dame has (roughly speaking) 4 spots remaining in this class after the Gunner Kiel commitment. Amir Carlisle may not count against a scholarship next year from all reports because he was not released by USC, but right people seem to think he will be on scholarship for this year. This is a rough number because we have to make assumption on things like KLM, Cave, Slaughter, Goodman all getting 5th years, no transfers, medical hardship, etc. At this point in time, it appears that John Goodman may likely get a 5th year if we don't pick up another WR. So for argument's sake let's say we have 4 or 5 spots depending on if you assume John Goodman is coming back. With Darby gone, it appears ND will target at least 1 CB as a "need" right now and the rest are flexible to what the staff desires... and likely filled with 5th year guys at this point.
Guys We Currently Lead For (or otherwise should be the clubhouse favorites to get if we push for them)
No one.
Guys We Are Squarely in the Race For (does not mean in the slightest that we will or are expected to win the race... but means we have a legitimate shot to land these guys depending on how the next 6 weeks play out)
Davonte Neal - The do it all speedster from Arizona could play on either side of the ball, but because of his less than ideal height he currently projects as a dynamic slot player for the Irish. ND was lucky enough to get the first OV from Neal and he liked it a lot. It will likely come down to ND, Arizona and Ohio State for his services with Arizona/Ohio State having the edge.
Brian Poole - Parents love ND, kid loves Florida. Kelly & Co. continue to push hard and we have a chance to flip him. Basically considered an even race at this point, if Muschamp doesn't have a good in-home he could be Irish.
Guys We Have a Shot At (i.e. could hypothetically become part of this class but it would take a significant change of the status quo) - Writeups in this section will be brief and basically detail why we trail/what needs to change.
Nelson Agholor - Doesn't talk much to anyone, but we're in a 3 team race here with USC and Florida. ND probably trails at this point but Nelson's recruitment looks to drag out much longer. He will OV to USC in January and we should know more after that. With Schyler Miles out, our chances of landing Nelson are very low.... but they're a bit better now with Gunner Kiel enrolled.
Ronald Darby - Former Irish commit left for reasons no one really knows... but Mike Frank has strongly hinted it was because of a mistake our coaches made. Kelly did not get an in-home visit in and that means unless there is something really crazy afoot we have very little chance.
