It's usually not a good thing when you never hear anything about a recruit. Has he picked up any major offers besides ND?

i don't believe he's picked up any more offers...i'm sure schools have cooled on him once he committed to ND...way it sounds there weren't too many too high on him anyway...hopefully he proves all those guys wrong.

I would like to restate that he plays in man to man at Cathedral, while ND has recruited him to play at safety.

After a player commits, it's usually a great thing if you don't hear anything about him.

As far as decommitting, yes. But when you don't hear anything such as new offers or coaches gaining interest, it probably isn't the best sign. Just saying.

I'm going to remain optimistic, and I'm going to remain a fan of anybody who represents ND (the right way, of course), but at this point, I think it would be pure lunacy to say that I know Mr. Turner is going to be a stud. He seems to be the least proven of any of our commits and the only parts I hear from games are about him being beat deep. I don't doubt the coaches or Mr. Turner, but you have to wonder what it is that they saw at camp that day that made them HAVE to offer him.

John is much like our QB situation where I just don't know what the hell to expect when he gets here, but I sincerely hope it is something pretty damn special.

Chuck Martin turned Harrison Smith from utter crap to a solid safety. I BELIEVE.

Haha Don't get me wrong. I do too, but this is honestly the recruit I've seen the least highlights of and the least big news of. I'm not a hater; I'm just being real.

Harrison Smith is an athletic freak. Always has been. I don't think we can put John Turner on the same page as Harrison.

The kid physically is a solid prospect. Runs a low 4.5 and has a very good shuttle time. He's obviously not going to be a game changer but I have faith in the staff. Let's hope Martin can craft this kid into a solid contributor

I do think John has the height and speed to be a good skill position player, but will it necessarily be at safety? Who knows, maybe we plan on using him as a pure athlete? Does he have good hands? I mean, we have had several kids come in at one position only to switch what side of the ball they're on.

I could see us using him as that nickle back corner/linebacker. Jamoris's role at times this year

To the doubtlessly controversial comment by GB: I fully support that. Harrison has been our leader not only defensively in terms of play-caller-on-the-field, and TD preventer [like a soccer "sweeper" in the deep back], and THE team captain, and the only actual leader we had [even Manti said: Harrison is our leader.]

Kelly did not want to publicly single out Harrison for pulling the Team together after the "my guys" hullaballoo, for obvious sociological reasons [that was not the time to single out anyone], but people all over said that Harrison took the lead in the healing and rallying. Kelly subtly honored him by having him go out last in the line on senior day.

There are people on this board who understand a lot about college football and people who apparently do not understand much at all. Nowhere do I see that division in greater contrast than the commentary about our Great safety. We will terribly miss Big Mike; it is ridiculous to distinguish between Mike and Harrison. I give the narrowest of margins to the greatness of the loss that Harrison means to us due to all the leadership elements we will have to somehow find now in somebody else.

Who will ever know how many defensive errors/messes by his teammates he had to clean up with his brains, speed, and hard tackling. Dammm, young man, I'm going to miss you.

To young Mister Turner: you couldn't have a better example of how to play safety and contribute in all other ways, than to watch the performance of our "old man" who is leaving. Hopefully, you can talk with him some in the off-season, since you're "in the vicinity".

Coach Elston coming to school in the AM.

Hopefully, we'll hear what's what considering nothing has come out Turner's mouth really since he talked about how he had haters on this site.

OMM! Great post and thought provoking. ND has two big holes to fill losing Floyd and Harrison. Harrison's ability to save big plays with good decisions, timing, and tackling has never fully been appreciated. Harrison may go down as the least appreciated really good ND player in recent memory. Let's hope Turner and others figure out how to emulate his play on the field and his leadership off it.
