Link says they're hearing it is ND 1 and Cal 2 at this point. Michigan is not out but certainly falling. Distance could still play a factor. Will OV Cal this week.

Like I said... the Adams-Payton combo is much more real possibility than most of us are talking about right now. Not saying it will happen, but we're squarely in the race.

I am feeling Payton is Irish more and more. Not sure if I agree with LAX on both though

I don't think we have a "good" shot at Adams, but I think if Payton does commit here our odds go up significantly.

It seems like our boy Jimmy has been in his ear, always tweeting to Jordan so hopefully he sold him.

Just watched his tape. Am I the only one that thinks he looks like Michael Floyd coming out of HS? Big, athletic, even runs funny... He has it all.

Anyone in SoCal can watch his game tonight on FSW. Also Vista Murrieta is playing tonight on PrimeTicket so you can check out Su'a Cravens too.

Wasn't there a quote from Payton where he said he thought he was the hardest working WR and then he went to ND and watched Floyd runnning wind sprints on the field with 45lb weights......he commented to his brother that he needs to work harder b/c Floyd was outworking him.....

If this is a accurate statement I totally want this kid on my team, love the hard workers!!!

i watched the whole game last night between oaks christian( payton's school) and westlake. idk what was up with payton but he only had 1 catch for 6 yds and 1 rush for 5 yds...his team lost 49-42. maybe we should be recruiting his teammate francis owusu ( chris's brother, former stanford standout) 4 catches 179 yds 3 td's. it's the only game i have seen live of jordan, he definitely did not look that impressive

If you only watched the Pittsburgh game this year then you wouldn't find Michael Floyd that impressive either!

Agreed. Thanks for the first-hand info. If he's Irish, let's hope it was an aberration. If he's not, well, oh well ;)

His Quarterback also threw about 6 INT's. Most likely because he only threw it to Owusu.
I watched the game and Payton seemed to be a lot bigger than many of the kids on the field. His body size reminded me of Floyd.

Give Payton a college quarterback who spreads the ball around and he will be a quite a bit more impressive.

that qb( brandon dawkins) was horrid!!!
payton was huge compared to the other kids, you are 100% correct on that. believe me i hope he is irish and he plays well for us..i guess i was just surprised by him only touching the ball 2 times the whole game.. being that he is a monster compared to most of those kids....on another note, ishmael adams looked very fast last night!

Never said I was butthurt or you were wrong. Just giving you an example.

Sometimes people have bad games or coaches have good gameplans against the other teams top player.

Maybe you were the one butthurt?

I am confused how my statement did that to you.

Good day sir!

Funny thing is he has been lackluster his whole senior season. Many teams have stopped recruiting him after his injury and his sophomore season because he has hit a plateau of some sorts. Not quite sold on him. I would love to get him though solely on the aspect that he is a great kid and that you know he is gonna work hard every practice and make his teammates around him better.

What injury did he have?

Ankle.

His junior year was very disappointing because of his injury and the fact that he admitted that he rested on his laurels since he committed to USC so early.

But I will dispute the fact that Carlyle says team stopped recruiting him. Far from it, and I'm not sure where you even got that from. His recruitment actually picked up after he balled out this summer. Teams like ND, Cal, Michigan, ASU, etc started recruiting him hard. He's being recruited so hard that they are doing a documentary on the craziness of his recruitment (and 2 others). They wouldn't be doing a documentary if he wasn't being recruited hard...

His sophomore season, literally he was thee #1 wr that everyone wanted. Since then many teams felt they needed to see more from him because it seemed like he hit a plateau. Sure he is being recruited hard now but I think many more teams had vested interests him as a sophomore. Then he got hurt and teams felt that he needed to prove that he was that same player. USC, WASH, UCLA, and LSU all wanted him early and now they seem to have less and less interest. USC may be because of the sanctions but WASH was in it early and they have cooled off on him as is LSU. His recruitment probably did pick up a bit but he is not even the best WR on Oaks Christian.

With that said, I would still take this kid in a heartbeat. Love his attitude and fits the mold of a Notre Dame student. Hopefully he has a lot of upside because this is a kid you just want to succeed on the field.

Watched the game last night as well...

1. What a game. Cross town rivarly for state..cant get any better.
2. Payton didn't play a great game, but he was far from playing a bad game.
3. Westlake had their LBs sitting in soft zones in the middle of the field the whole night, and never really brought any pressure. If you watch the Oaks Christian offense more than once, you will see that they run a lot of slants/crossing/dig routes and Westlake took that away. So that is why Francis Owusu had success on the outside, and Adams were getting a lot of work on the sidelines.
4. OC totally abandoned the run game, and like someone mentioned the QB through 5 INTs last night. QB never really even looked for Payton.
5. Payton played a great game on defense. He is not a safety, but you could see his football ability to get himself in position to make plays.
6. Id love to have this kid. His work ethic great, and he has a fire to succeed. Think Chase Hounshell.
7. He had a "down year" stats wise bc they are starting a sophmore qb, as well as I think I read 8 freshmen/sophmores are in the offensive rotation.
8. His coach said he is the best WR to come out of Oaks Christian, and considering the players and teams he has coached that is very telling.
