I think eifert will get a third and teo will get a late 1st early second round grade.

It's just my opinion and my opinion isn't worth much but I don't think Te'o is enough of a dominating presence to be a first rounder yet, late second to early third rounder maybe?

Eifert fourth or fifth?

I know that he's been injured all year, but he was definitely invisible for large stretches of games this year. That can't help his draft grade, though I think his three years collectively have shown enough production and potential to merit being a first round draft pick.

So wait, if he was so invisible then why does everyone want him to come back.

I for one, don't. I feel he really hasn't bought into BK's program and would rather see him gone so we can move on with guys that are all in.

I'll climb out on a limb here and say you're completely and utterly alone on this issue.

This is my thoughts on this situation

The Office - Toby's return - YouTube

I wish them the best if they leave and understand it but Im an ND fan and while its not impossible I think losing them will put us in a hole next year because its already a brutal schedule losing two guys will make it all the more difficult.

BK should have started Golson in front of Manti, right from the first game?

I feel their draft picks have kind of gone the way our season did, we started off with a lot of hype and a good ranking and well..... everyone knows where we are now. I want to add that I think they're both awesome and if they go, I hope they go out high. I just think like our ranking, they might have slipped a little.

Why no talk of how ND players drop in the draft? Who is the last player that was picked earlier than projected (or even where projected). Rudolph has been the only early round pick to payoff of late that I can recall off the top of my head. I do think ND offers late round value the last two decades as our talent was there but development was not.

It would be brutal to see Manti sit there into the second round after being pumped up as a first round lock. His measurables would be nice to know as well. It is going to take production plus measurables to make him a 1st round lock and I am not sure his football speed will translate to combine speed. The same story will be interesting to watch on Floyd especially with off-field issues and an injury history there as easy excuses to pass on him too early. ND players just have not lived up to hype for some time.

Do we know where Manti is on his degree? If he is on track to complete work this time next year I have 99% confidence he is back. If he is done this spring I am quite concerned.

BTW - Any player good enough to get picked ANYWHERE in the draft should be getting evaluated and taking out insurance.

We worked this out in his thread a couple months ago. He'd have to graduate this month in order to declare for the draft with his degree in hand, and that's extremely unlikely.

That's why I still think he returns.

Well he didn't enroll early so it would be near impossible to graduate a year and a half early. A semester early is pretty easy with all the summer school.

With insurance in hand, I see little downside for Manti if he stays another year, even as a top 20 pick. He easily moves to Top 10 (assuming measurables are there) with improved pass protection (maybe an INT or two) and a more mature D-line opening him up to make more highlight reel plays.

If I were in Manti's position (assuming he's evaluated as being a top 20 pick), I'd enter the draft, regardless of degree status.

Everything I have read has Manti as a top 15 pick. I don't know where come of you guys are coming up with later first early second round grade.

Not exactly sure. Could be from the fact that teams don't like drafting MLB's early (like OG's or C's). Historically teams just don't like to use high picks on these guys, and to an extent, guys that play in the middle of the field or formation. Edge players (T's, CB's, OLB's, DE's, and WR's) are generally more coveted in the draft and free agency, and they get bigger contracts than their interior brethren.

I don't know if this case with Manti or not. Just throwing this out there.

Exactly!!! I think we just have a lot of delusional boys in here that want to say anything they can to convince themselves he's gonna stay.

A. If he hasn't graduated, he can finish his degree even if he's drafted. And Manti has the character to do so
B. It's the NFL. You go if you're a first rounder. Nuff said.

I would love for Manti to stay...really would...

Projections are just that...projections.

How often do you see inside linebackers that appear to slow for third down, taken in the first 15-20 picks? Ray Lewis is a little short but everyone knew he was a stud. He wasn't even in the first 15.

So forget the projections?....

Come on. If you're projected by everyone to go first round..you go. While you can never tell exactly where you're going to go, you have to take the chance. There might not be another chance. Could get injured next season? Could have another bad year and be exposed even more for bad coverage skills?

"Man, i'm projected to be a first round pick...but I'm gonna just take my chances at another year in college so I can comeback and be projected to be a first rounder, again."

Dumb logic. I'll take my chances with the projections and go while the opportunity is there.

I know his coverage skills aren't superior, which he has gotten better at, but I definitely wouldn't sum up his season as "bad"

And how do you rationalize inside linebackers very rarely getting taken in the top twenty...in the past fifteen years.

I posted this in Manti's thread a couple of days ago and I'll post it here:

Manti is a top 20 pick. Sure he didn't have a great year, but the scouts know he was playing injuured the whole season. Everyone knows he needs to work on tackling and wrapping up, but that's no difficult to fix in the NFL. To qoute one particular NFL brief evaluation.

Instincts, toughness and leadership allow Te'o to overcome a lack of elite athleticism and keep him on the fringe of the top 10 despite questions about his tackling and lateral agility.

If he decides to go to the Draft this year and if healthy he could shine in an all star game and practices. Yes, underclassmen are allowed to play in all star games this year. Not the senior bowl, but the equivalent for all underclassman. I also believe if he is healthy, he shows that he is more athletic than the scouts think at the combine.

Just like how Kiper & Co. had Clausen in the top 5, right? Or how Quinn was a guaranteed top 5 pick?

Manti is not a lock first rounder. Not even close. He won't slide out of the second round, but ILB is NOT a position highly drafted and he isn't even going to be the best ILB in the draft.

At this point, I don't think the risk/reward ratio is good for Manti if he decides to return.
