I hadn't heard anything about that, seems plausible though. Much more so than the Alford rumor. Who/where does Charley recruit?

rumors are brewing hotter now that he will be named the next head coach at UMass.

any chance he takes some of our assistants with him.

i'd love for us to go after kliff kingsbury (offensive coordinator from houston to fill) that's very wishful thinking i know.

What's the Alford rumor?

That means Hinton, Molnar, Alford, and Warriner all have some sort of smoke billowing around a rumor that they're heading elsewhere. Losing members of a staff happens. Losing four of them in one off-season could cause a lot of problems. Especially if one of those is Alford. That man needs to be paid any amount of money to make sure he stays at ND for a long time.

I think Warrinar would be the new offensive coordinator.

i don't know if off. coordinator at a mac school holds better pull/pays better than o line coach at ND...would simply be to call plays. just my opinion, you could be right.

Everything I am seeing says it will be official very soon that Molnar is the new head coach at UMASS

rtrn2glory, I think Rizzo meant Warriner would be our new O coordinator. If that is the case BGI agrees:

"If Molnar ends up heading east, Ed Warriner is probably the in-house coach in line for a promotion to offensive coordinator. Warriner was named the running game coordinator this season to help give Molnar a little more time to work with quarterbacks on a day-to-day basis. He has certainly earned his stripes by improving the offensive line and run game this season.

He has served as the offensive coordinator at two previous stops in his 28 years of coaching — 1998-99 with Army and most recently with Kansas from 2007-09. He was promoted to associate head coach with the Jayhawks in 2009 before he came to South Bend."

i don't like jumping the gun too much:

but who do we get for a replacement for charlie and/or Ed W if they leave for Red Sox territory??

i agree with some who have said that it would be better to replace molnar with Ed W, if that's what it takes to keep him.

Congrats to Molnar for the promotion if he ends that way. We all know who the real OC is anyway which is why promoting from within is the safest bet. IF BK went to look elsewhere, should try for Chad Morris.

Any chance Tony Alford would be ready for an in- house promotion to become the new OC at ND?

It seems to be pretty popular to try and pluck ND assistants every year. Which is funny because ND isn't dominating their schedule year in and year out.

I'm pretty sure they are division 1 aa because it was the only team bc beat for a while and I remember making fun of my twin brother (bc) that the only team they could beat was aa.

They are moving from FCS (formerly Division I-AA) to their first season as an FBS school next year. Joining the MAC as their 14th member in the process.

Why Alford?

Would love to have Warriner as OC

Agreed. I didn't even know he was the Kansas OC 2007-2009. Those teams could light it up. The 2007 Jayhawks went 12-1 and scored 76 against Nebraska! That's crazy.

So UMass is joining the MAC? Interesting. Well if Molnar goes there, I hope he does very, very well, but loses to Ball State every year.

He might end up being an upgrade from Molnar. Molnar coached with Kelly at Cincy, so there was more familiarity coming to ND. Look at the effect he had on the ground game after he became run-game coordinator.

As a KU fan, I would love to have Coach Warinner promoted. The Jayhawks offense under him was unreal....That said, BK runs this show and Warinner is already on staff, so it really doesn't matter too much.
