No doubt in my mind, LSU and Bama are #1 and #2. ARK, SCA, and UGA are formidable but not in the class of the the first two. After that wow.

The SEC has skillfully crafted a League Schedule to dilute interconference fratricide while creating the illusion of top to bottom dominantion.

The SEC has 12 teams and a gazillion bowl slots locked up. Nine teams are bowl eligible but three of them are 6-6 and bowl eligible only because of wins over Div 1aa Furman (UF), Elon (VU), Tennessee-Martin (MSST). One of Ole Miss's 2 wins were over Southern Illinois. The 5 win Tennessee Vols had 2, 1aa wins over Montana and Middle Tennessee.

Sagarin rates the Big 12 more than 5 pts tougher than the SEC.

I believe you can only count one D1AA team to your win total to count for bowl eligibility.

Not to nitpick because I hate Tennessee, but Middle Tennessee is in the sun belt i'm pretty sure.

While there may be tougher conferences overall, I don't think there is much doubt that LSU and Alabama are the two best teams in the country. That said, I would love to somehow see OK State sneak into the title game and leave one them out.

One of the things that bothers me is how much "power" ESPN seems to have. They seem to do a great job of promoting the SEC as the dominate conference of college football. I also think in these days of cable, this helps the SEC in recruiting. ESPN is behind the SEC Network.......

sec is the best top to bottom but with the add ons next year they will actually be weaker. I don't mean this racial, but the south has the most blacks and look at the defense for bama and lsu. aint many white boys out there are there.most white boys are not very fast.

This is just a stupid *** post. I don't care if your best friend, mother, and dog are black. Try to use that lump of **** on your shoulders a little bit before dropping another post.

Straight talk Alabama does not deserve a shot at a rematch because even if they beat LSU, LSU's resume over the course of the season trumps theirs hardcore. Stanford is also getting hosed in the ratings by the fact that their win over USC isn't getting scored correctly.

Yeah, any win or loss from USC does not count in the BCS. Stanford will get hosed by ALA or LSU though.

IrishLax: Obvious the MNC is to match the top two teams in the nation. LSU is easily the number one. Who do you think is the number two team in the nation. Although I would not want to watch that game again, ALA is without a doubt the number two team in the nation.

This, but as mentioned Middle Tennessee is in the Sun Belt. I think the NCAA should go back to the one FCS team for every four years.

I don't think you should be allowed to play 1AA teams period.

Been saying this for the longest time. LSU and Bama are the 2 best teams in the country, outside of them, who scares you in that conference?

It would honestly work out to not have any 1AA teams. 120 IA teams. 12 games in a year. Do the math, it works out. But I understand with scheduling conflicts the need to, at times schedule a 1AA team. The problem, however, is that scheduling 1AA teams is no longer due to need, and everything to do with want. Want for more home games, want for revenue, want to win easy games. Also there is no penalty for playing 1AA teams. There should be and, as I mentioned earlier, the NCAA should go back to the old rule that a team can only play a 1AA team once every four years. This would help solve a lot of problems.

I think Stanford proves without a shred of doubt that this argument holds no water.

There is no arguing the SEC is king right now, and even after 10 straight titles homers will still use the same lame argument of the conference being "top heavy." Find one that isn't.
