no...meant it...it's a done deal boys.

i'll take the bet...what do i got to lose? ppl are reading way too much into the family issues for him wanting to quit. he'll be the ohio st. coach before Christmas.

What knowledge do you have??? How is it a 'done deal'? You're talking as if it is act, and completely ignoring other issues, most of all the little issue about the NCAA.

I'll take that bet. Name your price. I'd love to take that bet and double it actually.

realfreemancbs via Twitter:

Scout.com is reporting Urban Meyer has agreed to coach OSU for 7 years, $35 million. If true, whoa.

Lots of chatter about this right now.

I will be a very sad panda if this is true. The Suckeyes haven't toiled in mediocrity for nearly long enough, and we need more time to move in on their recruits.

Affects Michigan more than us. They live on near by prospects. We barely get Ohio elite guys so nothing will change.

“@BryanDFischer: RT @Andy_Staples: Spoke to someone who would know tonight and was told any report of a deal between Urban Meyer and Ohio State is untrue.”

Florida fans are none to pleased about him coaching elsewhere which is just funny to me.

Regardless, he had two chances to coach at ND and passed them both up despite it being his 'dream job'. Still don't get that.

I'd like to see him at Texas but I just don't see Mack Brown stepping away anytime soon. He's only 60 years old and unless Texas forces him out, I just don't see him leaving soon.

OSU just makes too much sense. He is from Ohio, graduated high school in Ohio. Got a degree from Cincinnati then received his masters from Ohio State. Also coached at OSU.

you can have all my v bucks if i'm wrong...idk what else to gamble with. whatever issue comes out of the NCAA would be at worse what USC got, which isn't that bad in all reality, they've already proven that there's ways around it in recruiting.

it's going to happen just a matter of time. done deal.

It'd actually be good for us to have Meyer take over at Ohio State sooner rather than later. He'd probably steal 2-3 kids away from this year's Michigan class including Kyle Kalis. In the long run, it'd be bad for us to have him there because it's going to make our midwest recruiting much, much tougher.

Although maybe we could work out sort of agreement to just neg recruit the hell out of Michigan....

"99.7% done deal." What does that even mean? Also his father just passed away last week. Seems kind of odd to me that he would be working out a new deal with OSU while mourning his loss...

You haven't even begun to see what will happen at USC. They caught lightning in a bottle with Marquis Lee, and they have a QB that has been starting there for 3 years, and they have a full roster this year. Where you'll see them see the effects of the sanctions isn't this year (like I said, with a full roster), but next year (without a proven QB), and especially 2 years from now.

See, in 2-3 yrs, with 75 scholly athletes, they won't be able to sustain the loss of knuckleheads like Baxter and Ambles. They won't be able to sustain all of the injuries that come with playing physical football (take away 10 guys that are injured plus those 2 knuckleheads, and now they're suddenly at 63 able bodies). And then what abou the mistaes in recruiting, the guys that just don't pan out like you thought? This happens with every program. Nobody os perfect, and Kiffy has already missed on a couple.

How are you going to practice for 3 hrs (like Kiffy always does) and hit like you need to when you don't have the bodies? Look at how they did last year when they didn't have enough bodies to hit in practice. It was awful. So if you're looking at THIS year as a reason to say that the sanctions aren't that bad at SC, when they have a full roster, you're sorely mistaken.

Urban would be a fool to overlook those possible sanctions.

don't compare urban to kiffin...not even close...usc will be fine. too many kids want to go there. it's a program that has had a ton of success and it's got it's own appeal.

face it it's all over...urban will be the next coach in cbus...as our well respected colleague GB says...where there's smoke.

USC will continue to stay relevant if and only if they can continue to pull 15 4:s: and 5:s: guys every year PLUS backdoor their way around scholarship rules by heavily recruiting JUCOs. They were *supposed* to only be able to take like ~8 guys from what I heard earlier in the year... now they might take a full 15... or more with EEs... it's just so confusing. They beat the sanctions by appealing for a year and signing a class of 30+.

NDinLA do you know exactly how many spots they have for this year?

my thinking is that the NCAA will come down harder on USC bcuz of the trouble kiffin got into while he was at tennessee as well. add that to what usc did with reggie and i think they will throw down the double whammy.

It will hurt everyone to have Urbie recruiting, but I feel like OSU and Michigan already dominate the MW and we generally don't cross over too much with OSU anyway. Where he'll hurt us is Florida.

The interesting question will be whether he can resist the *5 star punks this time around. I hope not. If he cleans up his act, we will overlap significantly more.

It's fluid, big time. They are gray shirting guys now, they are asking older guys to redhsirt, they are getting rid of players, etc etc. I think they'll still sign 13-15 plus a couple EEs, but they'll still be hurting with the 75 limit. THAT is where they'll be screwed. And they can no longer be worrying about guys that might not make it in (last year they had FIVE guys that were delayed by NCAA Clearinghouse issues, and 2 guys didn't get in). If they do that, they are effed. And they have to be careful about losing 5 star guys that wait until the last minute to decide. If they lose 2 guys like that on NSD, they'll have to scamble to find some last second replacements because they HAVE to fill those spots.

I'll compare Urban to anyone I want, and anyway, read closer - I'm not comparing them, I'm comparing the situations that they'll be in. If you want to close your eyes and pretend having 75 scholly numbers won't hurt, then fine, but selling that crap to me won't work. And if you don't believe me, look at last year. They didn't have the numbers (just like they won't for the next few years), they couldn't hit in practice, and they lost 5 games. This year they were back up to 85 schollies, and they were allowed to return to their normal ways. Things will change these next few years.

No need to face anything...it's not all over. Stoops to Notre Dame right? Miles to Michigan right? Sure buddy. And if and when it does happen...fine. Still doesn't change the fact that the sanctions that USC is facing will be crippling (not as much for a program like UCLA or Colorado or something, but it will still hurt - big time), and OSU could still be facing the same thing.

not selling anything...i could care less what happens to usc in the end. urban and kiffin are incomparable so don't turn this into a 3rd grade recess battle...i know you don't like me and that's fine, so let's just leave it at that. i have my reasons and sources for believing urban will be in cbus. and they are pretty accurate. ohio st will not face sanctions near that level and even if they do urban is the perfect guy to take them on.

Nothing against you personally...I don't even know you. You decided to go crazy, you were punished, you served it, and as far as I'm concerned that's the end of it.

And again, read closer, please, or just stop trying to argue cause it's a waste of time with people who chose not to read. I never compared Kiffy to Urban. THEIR SITUATIONS ARE SIMILAR, should Urban choose to go to OSU and they get sanctioned. If you can't see that, well, then there's no reason to even bother anymore.

As for your 'sources', well, it's been said for a long time that this could happen. Not that big of a scoop there. My entire issue with you from the jump is that you talk as if it is fact...you said it's a done deal already, 100%, which in my opinion is BS. Again, Stoops to ND, Meyer to ND, Miles to Michigan, etc etc etc. Those were all 'done deals' also. I'll choose to wait and see on this. And if it does happen (never said it wouldn't), he'd be foolish IMO. The crap in Columbus goes very deep, and hopefully the NCAA will do their job and hit them harder than USC...

Why? Why would any school on sanctions and probation even touch that piece of crap? He's a dishonest cheater who does anything to win. Do you think a repeat of everything he pulled at Florida would slide while you're under the NCAA's microscope? Or even Delaney's? I'm not saying the B1G is all pure or anything, but compared to the SEC they look like Mother Teresa. I don't know how Meyer could survive in the B1G while trying to graduate kids and stay within the rules. Actually I know he couldn't. To run his system he needs thugs who are looking for a school who will dare to touch them despite knowing what's in store. How many arrests did Meyer's players have in 4 years?

If I'm Ohio State, which I'm not because I'm intelligent and not a piece of crap, then I don't even think about Urban Meyer. That's like asking for the death penalty. At this point you need to save face, and bringing in the epitome of scum is not the way to do it.

you obviously don't know many buckeye fans...they and even I want a guy that is a win at all cost type of guy...they have absolutely zero care about graduating players and doing things the right way as long as they are winning. that's the world we live in. personally i prefer a guy like that myself. i hope coach kelly is our answer, but the jury is still out...urban is the perfect fit for ohio st and he'll be there coaching shortly.

fwiw my sources go far beyond the things you folks have been reading...being from cali. your not as close to the situation and hearing as much as we are in this neck of the woods. way more stuff going on outside of the world of the internet.

bottom line is that ncaa is a bunch of cowards...as long as there is money to be made they won't throw the hammer down on two of the biggest money making programs in the country and urban will make one of those programs even more marketable when he takes over.

You'll note that OSU was handed down the Failure to Monitor charge. Which means there is a mudhole going to be stomped. While I would love to see him at OSU (stays out of our hair and beats UM every year), I can't see it happening right now.
