i was really getting tired of hearing him on tv, so this is a good thing. for him and for the rest of us.

he was a good recruiter. i imagine he'll raid california and texas for their left overs and try to field a bowl eligible team.

Haha good for him. I'll root for them. Anyone would be an upgrade over their old coach.

That dude was head-scratchingly embarrassing and awful. Be that as it may, in hiring Davie, NM may have found one of the handful of guys out there who could be just as bad as a HC. This gives Ray Goff, Sylvester Croom, and another one of our formers, Super T, a lot of hope that they too can be a head man once again!

sounds like somebody is calling in a favor. you can't tell me he's the best man for this job, although who wants the 2nd to worst football team in the country?

Long fielded great leftovers after Franchione left for A&M (?).

Bowl games were not uncommon for a few short years at UNM.

For the record, I had nothing to do with this hire or the dinner I had for his family at my house the other night: with enough New Mexico green chiles to kill a horse.

Maybe Boob Davie can lead them to the Gator Bowl too before the program falls apart.

As a UNM grad...and former Football player this is a great hire. You guys may mock however this program has been thru hell with the last jackass they hired. I am really excited for both parties.

Watch you don't get punched in the face.

Poor Lobos...alas their former coach was a real POS so I guess this would be an upgrade.

Davie is an amusing figure who will invariably attract jeers from ND fans.

However, in all seriousness, he's a major upgrade for the Lobos, and I hope he succeeds there.

This is like when Washington hired Willingham. Don't schools ever look at a coach's history? Sigh.

I actually don't think he was a bad coach...I think we would all agree he was better than Willingham and Weis. I think Davie's biggest fault was going with an option offense instead of a pro style or spread attack, which he has admitted previously.
