Absolutely disgusting.

Everyone involved in this cover-up are despicable and disgusting people.

Never in a million years would I have thought, that one day, Joe Paterno would end up in the same place in my memories as OJ.

Being in PA, I can tell you PSU fans are beyond shocked and disgusted.

For decades Sandusky was painted as nothing but a class act, and if this stuff is true, it will really damage PSU

Other note: My PSU insider (in his 60's and lives up there) says rumors have been out for months that Urban has already purchased a house up there

I live in Central Pa. For years, PSU fans claim they have a squeaky clean program but not anymore. I have no sympathy for Paterno and their fanbase. I will say this will probably be Paterno's last year.

I believe because the statute of limitations has passed or maybe something like that.

I think the university is wide open to civil action particularly as it appears they covered up the criminal conduct beginning in 2002.

Sandusky has been charged by a Pennsylvania grand jury,so his legal issues are just beginning as is that of the university.IF it comes out that the university paid hush money, then this issue explodes and a house cleaning will begin.

I see this happening.
I would like to see some charges pressed against EVERYONE who didn't go to law enforcement.
That includes Paterno.
Negligence...pure and simple.
By most likely dozens of people trying to protect the program above all else.

I say a "house cleaning" is in order right now! Who in the hell could hear allegations, by a reputable eyewitness, about something so horrendous ,and not shout to the world.....HEY, THERE IS A SICKO MFer OVER HERE AT PENN ST.!!!

I can honestly say, if I was a student/player there, I'd transfer if they don't fire every single person envolved immediately, or at least suspend them pending a full investigation. I don't like to presume guilt, but much of this seems pretty clear cut.

JoePa's legacy has been destroyed. Everyone at Penn State with any knowledge of this situation from the President down need to be fired and/or jailed.

Curley, Schultz step down amid Penn State scandal - College Football News | FOX Sports on MSN

Updated Nov 7, 2011 1:37 AM ET
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP)

Two top Penn State officials charged with covering up allegations of an explosive child-sex abuse scandal related to former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky stepped down late Sunday after an emergency meeting of the university's Board of Trustees.

Penn State Athletic Director Tim Curley requested to be placed on administrative leave so he could devote the time needed to defend himself against perjury and other charges, university President Graham Spanier said. Gary Schultz, vice president for finance and business, will step down and go back into retirement, Spanier said. He declined to comment to reporters after the meeting.

Resignations of famed football coach Joe Paterno and Spanier weren't discussed at the meeting, which was arranged Sunday and lasted two hours, university spokesman Bill Mahon said.

Curley and Schultz were charged Saturday after a grand jury investigation of Sandusky.

...

I believe the rest of the story has previously been linked.

Curley and Schultz will be represented by PSU counsel as they were acting as PSU employees at the time. This is S.O.P. I would expect Spanier and Paterno would also have PSU counsel if they become more involved.

I am not aware of the Penn laws re child abuse, but in Ohio and Indiana, a physician who had knowledge of the abuse and who does not report it has committed a criminal offense. In Indiana, the same holds true for those in education.
That would include the head football coach who had direct information and the university president who had indirect information as to the abuse and did not report it to the proper authorities. That probably also includes the university attorney (who also represents the organization, The Second Mile, at the heart of the matter, and the CEO of The Second Mile).
This smells like a grand coverup conspiracy to me.
Finally, I can't understand how the head football coach, when informed of the incident in his locker room by one of his (former) coaches, would allow him access to all the football facilities for another decade.
What kind of bizarre arrangement would allow pre-adolescent and young teen boys to take showers in an university football locker room anyway?

Indiana fired Bobby Knight for being impolite to a student who harassed him and Ohio St fired Woody Hayes for punching a football player (who had a helmet and a face mask).
Let's see what Penn St does to their icon.

This is just sad.

This is just about the filthiest crime you can be accused of. I honestly don't look forward to watching Penn St. crumble but if proven guilty, the accused must get the max sentence.

As my grand jury testimony stated, I was informed in 2002 by an assistant coach that he had witnessed an incident in the shower of our locker room facility. It was obvious that the witness was distraught over what he saw, but he at no time related to me the very specific actions contained in the Grand Jury report.

Regardless, it was clear that the witness saw something inappropriate involving Mr. Sandusky. As Coach Sandusky was retired from our coaching staff at that time, I referred the matter to university administrators. I understand that people are upset and angry, but let's be fair and let the legal process unfold.

This is from Joe Pa's statement and I find it very unsettling. If the grad assistant was very distraught and made the effort to go out of his way to report the incident, why didn't Joe Pa probe for specifics? At the very least he could have asked the grad student to fully explain the situation, since he offered no specific details but "it was clear that the witness saw something inappropriate."

This entire case is just sickening. Using a charity you started to get close to little boys? Covering up for a friend who may have made an innocent mistake is one thing, but if anyone was covering up for this monster, they deserve to be punished as well.

Joe Pa is done... I think he will be forced to step down MUCH sooner than most think. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he is forced to step down with in the next week. There is no excuse for what took place...

Could this possibly be the "10" story that was speculated about over the summer?

It is being reported that Sandusky was working out in the PSU weight room as recently as last week. PSU players are calling a squad only meeting today. Joe Pa should be done.

Joe should step down on his own, he knows he failed those poor children. Stepping down is probably his last chance, to prove he has the slightest semblance of morals. There is no doubt that his silence caused more children to be hurt. I don't know how him, or any of the others involved in the cover up, can show their faces. Sandusky will burn in hell.

I have never been a fan in any way of Penn State and I'm from Penna. To me this smooth over is a direct result of Paterno being under fire because of his age for 15 years. Why else act this way on such a cruddy deal. This now puts Penn State in a bad bad light and if this doesnt send this coach out what the %$#@ will. Of course Joe Paterno would have kicked this guys butt 25 years ago then send him looking for employment somewhere else. Paterno is a moral man but because of all the heat Penn State has gotten because of Paterno being a figurehead coach they must have felt this would have exposed the coach as really being out of touch with what is going on there. Infact he is out of touch-how could you not be at this age. Send him out and end this silly (now tragic) nightmare. Its about time his family set him down and told him 'coach you can not do this anymore and you are making a mockery of all the good you have done'. If he remains obstinant then terminate him and let it be public. I can assure you any coach in touch with his program would have seen signs that this stuuf was going on. I'm hoping that its all 'untrue' because I am not a Penn State fan but you have to respect Paterno's resume. If it is true then get him out of there!!!

This whole case is unbelievable. First, you have McQueary walk in on a grown man raping a boy and he walks away and then tells the coach. I'll give him a bit of a pass because that has got to be freaky to walk in on that. Although, you would hope someone would put a stop to something like that when they saw it. Then you have basically nothing happen and McQueary still coaches there. WTH? What normal human being could continue to climb the coaching ladder at a place where you know a pedophile is roaming and getting access? Then JoePa and his statement. Give it up. You were told about an incident involving a grown man showering with a 10 year old. I don't care if that's all you heard. Nothing is right about that. Nothing. The fact that he is still coaching there at this point is scandal. He should have been fired ASAP. I don't give a rip who he is. You coach students. You are responsible for kids and their welfare when you coach them. What a disgrace.

PennST was never as squeaky clean as most people would like to think. Between 2002 & 2008 there was over 163 arrests made in the football program.

This-and much more. Not immoral stuff but just lack of control and lack of doing what is right. It all comes done to selfishness on the part of the head coach. If this happened at Notre Dame we would all feel dirty and embarrased.
