IMO he wasn't getting big offers until he went to the opening which he was previously committed to us back then...seems to have some big time programs interested and wants some attention....look at "the big boys" 5*'s waiting later in the game to get the vip treatment...can't say i blame him...we certainly could have used his speed at OLB but if he isn't 100% committed to us..then on to the next one

I have no problem with the decommit. He is making sure of his choice and is being honest about it. If we are for him then we are, if not then I wish him the best of luck!

Basically he thinks he committed too fast, wanted to take visits, Kelly didn't like, so he decommitted.

Guys everything points to a mutual parting that hopefully will turn out beneficial for both sides. No use rehashing it out playing the what if game in this case. Let's just wish David the best of luck and move on.

Yea Def good luck to David. This eases my mind if we get McNamara, since this opens a spot. He is the TE i really want this year.

perkins definitely fits the mold of lsu's lb core..he would be great at lsu

LSU already has verbals from T. Davis and T. Granier. Both BIG time prospects I mean both these kids got offers from LSU, Bama, Aub, Okla, Tex, Ark. Perkins may not see the field at LSU maybe he should look at some of his offer schools more closely Cincy, L'ville, Purdue, Indiana, Syracuse and Iowa. He has a better chance of being an impact player in the Big East than the SEC.

I believe he also has an offer from Oregon.

I think an offer from ND only helps his cause. Take the whole ND offer/commitment out of the picture, he may not get those offers.

Or the fact that the opening was in Oregon and he was one of the best athletes there.

I think LSU and Oregon have the bankroll to do their own scouting. They probably made the decision on their own scouting to offer...

I mean, we are talking about a 4:s: freak athlete...

Being from South Bend I keep track of the local high school teams, and he seems to be much like Deiter. In that, when they have a good game it's a huge game, but those don't happen very often. Never seemed to get into a groove all season.

I have no idea if this has been brought up and I'm sorry if it has, but I think it's hilarious how we make the front page of the ESPN recruiting website when a 3* commit opens up his recruitment. Unless it's a 5* recruit, most other teams don't touch the front page when a recruit decommitts.

He is a 4* recruit and ESPN really likes him bro! He was a 4* recruit even before ND offered him!

4-Star ND Recruit Decommits

this quote is a bit confusing to me.

"There are a lot of good schools out there interested in me, and Notre Dame doesn't let you take visits, and I want to take visits,” Perkins told 247Sports. "I feel like I committed too fast and didn’t give myself a chance to go through the whole recruiting process. I’m going to reopen it and go through the process and see what all is out there."

i hear about other recruits taking visits. so, whats the real story here?

Not confusing to me. If you are looking around then you are not committed.

the part i'm referring to is that it says, "nd doesn't allow you to take visits." but, didn't darby and a few other guys go out this last weekend? one of our commits went to ASU. if this is not "not allowed" then we have issues somewhere, right? OR...perkins is just making that up.

Like I said before, read the previous pages...This has been discussed at length.

I have read the previous pages, but I still don't recall there ever being a clear conclusion as to why he continues to say we won't allow him to visit places.

hmm...I thought he only said that the night he decommitted? He has said it more recently still?

I guess in all honesty no one knows what happened, except that it was a "mutual" agreement.

Does anyone know if he even holds an ND offer at this point? Did the staff let him go, and therefore, even if he wants back in, it doesn't matter?
