Atkinson will actually stay at RB and I believe Daniels, or mayb even a freshmen will take the other WR spot.

And Jackson may be challenged for his spot at CB.

Golson or Hendrix will be the QB. I think incoming recruits like Darby or Shepard may crack the starting lineup. Depends if the stay committed and IE.

Dayne had me fooled for a second.. When Tommy went down I had one of those "It's your chance" feelings for him. He came out and hit a few passes.. and then nervous Dayne let the lights get the better of him..

Just as devastating as Jonas' SF ripped fumble.. So critical.

After watching Stanford we really don't have much of a chance there. With Barkley picking us apart and their 2nd and 3rd string rb's rolling us up. What will the Luck and their really good RB and 3 TE's do against us?? We really need to get Wake, Navy, and Maryland.

Man, I really don't want to see Rees again next year. I am kinda sick of his song and dance of turnovers.

No idea, that is 5 weeks away. Anything can happen.

The scariest thing in my mind is Lo Wood and Bennett Jackson as out starting corners..

F*ck.. Next years schedule does not leave room for improvement.

I have been a Rees critic, and I really want to see a quarterback that can stretch the field. The fact is that most quarterbacks make the jump from their sophomore to junior year. The thing Rees needs to fix is working through his progressions, and if he gets that down he can run this offense well. Although we need to realize his shortcomings and work with that, tonight we had no running game because we got away from it. I think Floyd being gone will be a good thing for him because he looks to Floyd every time. The two games where our offense failed to produce were today and Pitt, both of which Floyd was held in check. I believe Kelly is the right guy and will make the right choice, but I think someone needs to talk to him about his play calling. Anyways, I have to stay optimistic because there is always next year (as the Cubs say).

My feelings almost entirely. I'm not a Rees critic but I understand he's not going to win us championships. I want to find that QB that will but until that time he's definitely our best option.

I thought he did well tonight without having his safety blanket of Floyd. I took that away as a positive tonight. He showed he could look elsewhere and succeed a bit.

Hate to bring a team like Wisconsin with Wilson in it at this point, but I feel Tommy is the kind of QB that would do well in an offense like Wisconsin. Make the passes that you need to, hand the ball off.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this offense needs a true spread QB with mobility and a strong arm and unfortunately Tommy is not that guy.

I agree. I think people see this as a "you're either with Tommy or against Tommy" debate, which is misguided.

Fans like us, OTOH, feel like Rees is pretty good, and if anything actually gets better in the clutch/3rd down.

But that having been said, we all know that he can't put the team on his shoulders for 4 qtrs, which is what BCS Championship teams tend to have.

In his defense, he does the job well b/c (a) he's accurate, (b) he's clutch and never gets rattled, and (c) knows the holes in zones very well.

That said, he's (a) not a running threat, (b) his arm strength is a little too weak for a rope on deeper routes, and (c) his field vision is myopic (helmet cam notwithstanding...).

The real kicker is that if we (or Kelly) fixed any one of these then I believe ND is undefeated right now.

But until we get an elite QB, we're never going to fulfill the NC dreams we all have...

They think he's handsome and a nice guy. Tom Brady is handsome and a nice guy soooooo... you see the obvious correlation right?

I felt the same way, I was rooting for Dayne to redeem himself. Instead he probably made the worst mistake he could probably make in that situation.

I don't think Tommy did anything to cost us the game. To be honest, he was pretty good with the ball, and we were driving in the 2nd half. I was a little disappointed with our receivers not getting open, Eifert was the most productive from what I recall. The damn fumble on the goal line by Dayne that was returned...shades of the South Florida game, and just like that game it took all the wind out of our sails. We made another drive after, but you could tell that the stadium felt the hit and the defense lost their edge. Momentum is so crucial in college football, and we lost a lot of it in a split second.

Next week I hope to see more Hendrix and a true Spread offense. I'd also like to see us pick up the tempo too. We're already going no huddle, theres no reason we can't keep it speedy and keep the oppositions defensive personnel on the field to make it harder to substitute.

Dayne's fumble was disasterous but I really hated Kelly's 2nd down play on 2nd and goal. How many different QBs are we going to force Cave to work with. How many different looks are we going to show USC. Dayne goes from the bench for weeks to being thrust into a huge spot and is starting to get in a grove and then we waste a down with Hendrix in the game and kill our momentum.

I understand the Hendrix package with Rees as our QB because Rees can't run to save his life.

But Crist has shown he can scramble and improvise if needed. Everyone in the building knew it was a running play when we put Hendrix in.

I wonder what would've happened if ND scored a TD on that Crist play instead of fumbling it. Would Crist have stayed in the game?

Or if we didn't convert on 3rd down, would Kelly have gone for it on 4th down.

I didn't have too much confidence in our defense to stop Barkley late in the game but if we would've gotten it to 17-17 then we just would've been one or two big defensive plays away from grabbing the game by the throat.

If you go back and watch the play though, if Hendrix pulls the ball out just a split second sooner, he scores. It was there, he just hesitated a little - like a guy who's only had a dozen snaps or so would. I loved the call, and it damn near scored.

I hope not on Shembo. He is not good at all. For many reasons. His performance last night against USC was deplorable.

Why is everyone so high on Nichols, I think Lomard is the better prospect and I believe he is our 3rd Tackle this year.

QB: Rees
RB: Wood
WR: Daniels
WR: Riddick
WR: Jones
TE: Eifert
T: Martin
G: Watt
C: Cave
G: Hanratty/Hegarty
T: Lombard

DE: KLM
NT: Nix
DE: Lynch/Tuitt
OLB: Ishaq
ILB: Manti
ILB: who the Hell knows?
OLB: Niklas
CB: Wood
CB: Atkinson
S: Slaughter
S: Motta

I think our 3rd CB will be Shepherd and our 4th WR will be Greenberry. If we put a 2nd DT in I think either Tuitt slides down or Hounshell as I think he will be NT #2 next year.

Pretty sure Te'O is going to enter the draft. He has a shot at being the first MLB drafted, and lets be honest, he has no reason to come back for a senior year other than earning his degree... with that said I think the lineup is...

QB- Kiel if he commits, Rees if not
RB- Wood
WR- TJ
WR-Riddick
WR- Greenberry
TE- Eifert
LT- Martin
LG- Watt
C- Cave
RG- Hanratty
RT- Lombard

DE- Lynch
DT- Nix
DE- KLM with a lot of Tuitt as well
LB- Ishaq
LB- Moore
LB- Calabrese
LB- Shembo
CB- Wood
S- Motta
S- Slaughter
CB- Darby
