Give me the "Irish Envy Nation" odds on him commiting to ND (not this weekend but when all is said and done). I give it 60%. WHAT SAY YOU?

I say 30%. Alabama has been after him the whole time he was committed to IU and in recent interviews he would skirt questions asked about them. Oklahoma has a committment from a 4 star kid though I am sure they would still be interested. Unless Winston jumps from FSU to Bama I say he ends up in Tuscaloosa.

Thanks I thought the recruit had to pay for the ticket

I don't think the answer to that is necessarily crystal clear.

I would assume he'll have the same privileges as the other recruits with a gate pass.

Any contrary information, former athletes / incredibly-knowledgeable posters?

ND will honor all scholarships so the idea we might not have enough room for some of these guys because we have a LS signed makes me uneasy!

They get free entry to the game but that is it from what I understand. Official visitors I know get free concessions during the game while unofficial visitors do not.

Has he been on campus before?

Yes several times.

He wants a free ticket.

Sorry Wooly.

Maybe so, but he did just decommit, we are an in-state school, he is visiting for the ND vs. USC game and we are loaded at WR for his class. Maybe he doesn't choose us but we couldn't be in a better situation.

Looked at his tape and it looks like they run the spread. Chalk up one more reason to be optimistic!

I agree. A lot of the reasons he committed to IU are reasons he may like ND also (In-state, close to home, family atmosphere, family connection). It will be hard for him to overlook the fact that damn near every top recruit in the country will be at this game, many of them verballed to ND (and maybe a few more?).

On the scholarship tip, we would have room for Gunner. Keep in mind the 5th year guys and EE's. Can one of you number nerds show us how we fit Gunner, Shaq, Poole, Treggs and Agholar.... you know.... for hypothetical reasons.

...who deserves a scholarship. He's about the best LS there is and he hasn't even been doing it that long.

With roughly 38 scholarships open for the next TWO recruiting cycles (too bad we're not Ole Miss or South Carolina and can sign that many in ONE class), I'd think getting Kiel this year would mean passing on a QB next year. Whether he comes or not, I think the numbers crunch and the existing QB's on the roster will mean 1 QB total in the next two years.

If Badger is coming back, Manti stays, and the only 5th years are Kap, Cave, and Slaughter (musts) then we have 7 spots left.

EE's don't really factor in as they are only helpful when going up against the 25 per cycle limit.

You guys have to remember if one of these top guys verbals they wont say no. It just means we wont bring back as many 5th years. Plus add a de-commitment if happens every year. Theres about 8 guys left and if Gunner wants to be one of those 8 than f ya bring him in. Staff is going after 8 top notch players i dont think we land 8 top guys so i am not worried one bit about numbers. I want to beat Southern Cal and than the recruiting will figure it self out. We will get ours.

55 lots of smoke on this two weeks ago. Than de commits a day before the ND USC game. I like our chances. Plus he is an early enroll and i think Bama has moved on and so has Oklahoma. Michigan has Shane Morris. LSU maybe. I like Notre Dame chances.

you know now that you said this 75% of this board is going to take it as gospel. haha

Btw, I don't think Bama has moved on at all:

@BamaSportsNow:mad:MilesFomby:"Gunner Kiel has decommitted from Indiana and has been in contact with Alabam over the past couple of weeks."

55% GB? That much? You must know something I don't. I'm saying 20 maybe 25%.
