Best place to park

Best place to park

Hey Guys -

New to the board and proud MSU Spartan alum/fan!

Wife and I are heading down for the game this Saturday - very stoked for the opportunity. Of course the game will be sweet...but just saying I've been to Notre Dame Stadium will be cool.

Question (and I haven't read thru all the pages yet)....where is the easiest/best place to park on game day? How early should we arrive? We don't plan on tailgating, but the wife does want to walk around beforehand, grab a bite, see the university a bit. We don't mind walking a bit if required....someone mentioned parking at St. Joseph High School?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It's all personal preference on parking, and if you sift back through earlier pages on this thread there are lots of questions/answers on parking, but here is what's on their website:

Burke Golf Course Parking

Weather permitting, Game Day parking will be available on the Burke Memorial Golf Course. The entrance fee is $40 per vehicle, cash only. Football game tickets must be shown for entrance to the parking areas on the course. Tailgating is invited but Burke parking is limited to passenger cars. Recreational vehicles, large trucks, buses, motorcycles, and limos are not permitted.

In order to keep the integrity of the course in tact, Burke parking will not be available in the event of inclement weather.
Is tailgating permitted?

Yes, tailgating is permitted in the Golf Course area. Normal tailgating policies apply.
Hours

Golf Course Parking opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes three hours after the end of the game. Please note that there is no shuttle service from the Golf Course.
Directions

* Exit the Indiana Toll Road at Exit 77.
* Turn right (south) at the light at the end of the exit ramp (SR 933).
* Turn left (east) at Dorr Road (the WNDU studios will be on your left).
* Turn right into the D6 South Lot.
* Follow the directions of the parking attendants.
* Golf Course parking is also accessible from Angela Blvd.

White Field

White Field is the general public parking area located north of campus. The entrance fee is $25 per vehicle, cash only. A quick access road connects the Indiana Toll Road exit 77 ramp and White Field, allowing guests to drive directly to the parking lot. Shuttle service runs throughout the day. Buses pick up and drop off guests at the Hesburgh Library Circle, just north of Notre Dame Stadium.
Hours

White Field opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes three hours after the end of the game. Shuttles run from 7:30 a.m. until an hour after the conclusion of the game.
Directions

* Exit the Indiana Toll Road at Exit 77.
* Continue through the light at the end of the exit ramp onto White Field.
* Follow the directions of the parking attendants.

Handicap Parking

Game Day parking for people with disabilities is located in Lot D2, just south of Douglas Road near the East Gate entrance to campus along Wilson. For access to this lot, you must present your state issued disabled placard or display a qualifying license plate at the time of entry. The cost of parking in this lot is $25 per game. Accessible transportation will be provided to and from Notre Dame Stadium before, during, and after the game. This lot provides the best access to and from the Stadium area for people with disabilities who do not have season reserved parking passes. Accessible shuttle service is provided at no additional cost and will transport disabled patrons to and from the Stadium area. Stadium ushers will be on hand before and after the game to assist people with disabilities as needed.
Directions

From the Toll Road exit:

* Turn left (north) on SR 933.
* Turn right (east) on Cleveland Rd.
* Turn right (south) on Juniper.
* Turn left (east) on Douglas Rd.
* Turn right (south) on Wilson Drive to Lot D2.

Alternate route

From Ironwood Road:

* Turn west onto Douglas Road.
* Turn left (south) on Wilson Drive to Lot D2.

Do not try to approach on Douglas from SR 933.
Other Parking Information
Additional Lots

If you have a hang tag, the information on the back will help you locate your designated lot. Guests without hang tags may park in White Field, Burke Golf Course Parking on the Notre Dame Golf Course or at the Robinson Community Learning Center which also offers parking at their facility 921 N. Eddy Street.
The parking field near Innovation Park is now restricted.

The area south of Angela (formerly Edison Road) and north of South Bend Avenue has been converted into a lot for reserved passes and bus parking only. As always, follow hang tag instructions.

Can anyone confirm because I haven't seen it on the ND website, but do they still do the Tunnel Tour on Fridays where you can walk down tunnel and take a picture at the back of the end zone?

The day has finally come! Today I got my hotel set for the Navy weekend!
It has been 17 LOOOONG years since I moved from South Bend, and this will be my 1st ever home IRISH game. I am way too excited.
Don't have tickets yet,I'm gonna go after a scalper, and hopefully a fellow Irish fan will help me out.
Planning all the awesome traditions but had a couple questions.
1.I used to love Rocco's and want to go back. Do you still have to get there incredibly early on Friday nights to be able to get in? If so, rough estimate on time?
2.Do the players/coaches sign anything after games? If so where would I want to be to try and catch them?
3.What time do the pep rallys start on Friday? I know they're normally corny, but I would love to see it.
4. I can never seem to get an answer to this, but is the GUG open to the public? I would LOVE to see the inside of that building.

safe travels on your pilgrimage!
1. never been.
2. not sure, my guess would be out the west side of the stadium or gug. but it'd be at least an hour to 2 hours after the game.
3. team is usually announced around 730 est. friday night. pep rally usually starts around 630pm. weather permitting.
4. im pretty sure you can enter the gug on game day. may be a good opportunity for a signature there. i know for a fact you can tour the practice field.

again, there were some changes this year for the walk and what not. i'm sure some of the locals will be a bit more assisting.

on another note...i will be at this game too! my girlfriend, brother and his girlfriend, mom and pops will all be in attendance for my pops 59th b-day!

Nice. Thanks for the help. Yeh I just checked out und.com and I had never seen that they have a free tour of the tunnel on Friday and Labar on Saturday. I'm gonna have to do that as well. I've been waiting on this pilgrimage to the holyland for a long time!

Me and my girlfriend made our first trip out to South Bend this weekend. She bought me tickets for the AF game for my birthday in July. It truly was an amazing experience and enjoyed every minute of it. We drove all the way out from Rochester,NY. We saw pretty mcuh everything there is to see and it was eye opening. I got to slap hands with CJ Prosise after the pep rally and then after the game I took a picture with Aaron Lynch and also saw Momma Lynch. I cant wait to go back to go back next year.

Also people at ND are great people

Was about to say the same thing. haha. I was wondering if they'd changed it.

Ahhh, my bad. I just read your itinerary because I'm headed there this weekend and I wanted to see what other people do around campus before the game. Enjoy!

Oh its ok.Have fun this weekend. Those restaurants were always my favorite growing up only 5 miles away from the campus.I wish I had never been forced to move.
If anyone wants to do a IE get together during the Navy weekend let me know....

I was hoping to get up to the Navy game, but the person I was going to buy the tickets from sold them already. :( Maybe I can find some more for a decent price though.

Use that 2 - 7 slot on Friday for some heavy drinking. The weather won't be fit for golf. Unless you like playing in the sleet or snow. It's colder and wetter than hell around here right now, and it will probably be worse next weekend.
