His father is quoted as saying “It depends on where South Carolina is as to whether I try to shake up Chris’ mind or accept his decision,” Joe Brown said.

Thats the only quote i've read other than when Brown first commited where his dad said, "I knew he'd love the place."

Form what I gather, Brown wants to enroll at ND and his parents want him to make sure he sees everything offered to him by other schools to make sure he is really commited to ND.

They are thinking, "If we add him twice, it'll be twice as hard for him to flip flop on us, I wonder if we should do that for Darby too?"

Sounds to me like maybe he reached out so South Caroline like he said he planned to, and maybe didn't exactly get the response he was looking for.

Joe Brown said that a visit to Virginia Tech had been planned, a visit that the Browns told ND assistant Mike Elston about and have since canceled.

I read that VT called them and pulled the offer. Said he would have to wait till january for full confirmation.

I can respect that the father would initially have reservations about sending his kid across the country to a program that recently has not been as successful as the in-state university. However, I do believe that once Mr. Brown has a chance to look at the situation more closely, the major advantages presented by Notre Dame - on and off the field - will become apparent and the choice will be as easy for him as it seems to us and was for Chris.

I will never understand why some parents interfere with their kids college choices. Why would you not want your kid to get a college degree from Notre Dame. I dont think any bad can come from that.

If Momma Tuitt didn't interefere it's quite possible Stephon would not be Irish right now. It's a double edged sword that unfortunately goes both ways.

Parents should always play a large role in these kids' college decisions, but the final call should always belong to the kid.

Yes, but I'm looking at it from the stand point of what if football does not pan out. A degree from Notre Dame is very nice thing to have, but thats just me.

Most parents are going to care more about their kid getting a good degree than the kid. Have you heard the Kory Minor story before? Momma Minor was the first Momma Lynch. haha

True. I remember when I was picking a college. I really wasn't thinking to much about what school I was going to get my degree from and how it would help later in life. I just knew all my friends were going to UGA and it was close to home. No I have never heard the story about Kory Minor.

While on a visit with his mother to Notre Dame, Kory decided he didn't want to play at ND because of the cold weather. His mother turned to him and said, "I can buy you a coat. I can't buy you a Notre Dame education. You will tell Coach Holtz you are coming to Notre Dame."

Oh and, you played at UGA?

Oh no no, I just went to school at UGA. I didn't have the size and speed to play ball in college. That story is pretty funny. "I can buy you a coat."
