They list the "Others Receiving Votes" by the amount of votes they received for a reason. I didn't say we were "ranked," but the AP rates us as the 30th best team and the Coaches rate us as the 32nd best.

TCU - 410 yards (206 pass, 204 rush)
Tennessee State - 394 yards (206 pass, 188 rush)
Navy - 466 yards (132 pass, 334 rush)

Their biggest DL weighs 260 pounds. Their CBs are 5'10" and 6'0".

Uhh, that's kinda how rankings work, Isaac Newton. By the amount of points/votes you accumulate. Just like the 25th team has the 25th most points, we have the 30th most points. It's one thing if you want to argue that polls don't matter at all, but to argue their value ceases to exist after some arbitrary cutoff point is silly.

This happens every year, then Michigan falls apart once they play the meat of the Big 10 and, more recently, Denard is banged up. We have the unfortunate fate of getting Denard at the beginning of the season.

I think whats even sillier is the fact that Michigan got their butts kicked for 3 quarters and should have never won that game. Don't worry, it'll right itself eventually.

Michigan is almost top 10...are you kidding me? They havent played anyone besides us

They're 5-0 and have won impressively three weeks running. Their schedule is weak, but so are most of the schedules in the FBS to this point in the season.

Michigan can realistically win 9-10 games. The Big 10 is very weak this year and they don't have too many major tests left on the schedule.

As for us, I could see us sneaking into the Top 25 after the bye week and a win over Air Force. Two ranked rivals will probably mean higher ratings.

In this Newton v. Einstein matchup, Newton wins. Nobody is ranked 30th. Or 26th, or 33rd. Only the top twenty-five teams are ranked. The rest just received votes. They were under consideration. Nobody is officially #30. You can draw the conclusion that the team with the 30th most votes is the 30th best team on your own, but technically there is no #30 in the polls.

100% agreed. This will not be a walk in the park. ND should win. But lets face it ND should have beat USF and Michigan. Nice to see ND ranked 32 or 30 or what ever the article said. I love ND just as much as anyone on here but I think you have to be realistic with our team, not a top 10 caliber team. Hopefully they can prove me wrong.

The exact mechanism used to determine the Top 25 has us 30th. Nobody is saying we're in the Top 25, but saying we're in the Top 25 would be no less arbitrary a distinction than someone saying we're in the Top 30. Either you think there is value in the votes or there isn't.

What I think is that people who claim that their team "is ranked 30th", when there are only 25 teams ranked, are desperate to validate their team. Our record, against our schedule, says exactly who we are. We don't need to fabricate a #30 ranking to justify following our team.
