Caps win it this year. It's the Indianapolis Colts effect... eventually, enough is enough.

Man that guy can sing the star spangled banner (chi/det game)!

O trust me the guy is a God in Chicago. Hawks are winning it all this year. To much talent. Plus there healthy and not tired like they were last year. I like the Caps in the east I think they finally make it to a cup.

In my opinion Lauren Hart from the Flyers is the best.

The Caps won't make the cup finals as long as Boudreau is coach

Come on man...i route for you guys for all games EXCEPT for the Wings. :)

Honestly how can you root for the Hawks? I could never ever root for anybody in the east, especially teams in the Atlantic division, unless it benefited Philly or myself of course.

There are two teams that I enjoy watching play (other than the 'Wings). One is the Blackhawks- they are young and going to be good for a while. Second is the Pens, because my kids are Pens fans (not sure how that happened)...and watching Malkin play, guy is amazing.

As a whole Hockey players IMO are the best althets....love the game. Considered moving to Albany New York for a three year work assigment because my boys want to play..not much hockey in the SouthWest.

Yep no problem. He's been really good for the Flyers.

Do you think this is Lidstrom's last year?

Yes I do think Lidstom is done after this season. IMO I have seen his skills deminish a little...however, his leadership has been amazing.

What are your thoughts...?

Yeah I think so too. He seems like one of those guys that once he knows it time he'll pull the trigger and won't eff around.

He's probably one of if not my favorite non flyers ever. The guys a class act and one hell of a hockey player

I love a player that can play with Class. That is why I was/am such a big Yzerman fan.

That give Giroux that plays for you guys....he is going to be a superstar.

Yeah he is. I think him, JVR and Jagr is gonna be a really really good line. I'm surprised at how good Jagr has looked. Him and Giroux seem to have some crazy chemistry

If my memory serves me correct I was watching Giroux playing his rookie year and he made a stupid play (cant remember exactly) that hurt their changes in the playoffs. However, I am glad he continued to play at a high level.

Not sure. This is the only play of his that I remember from that year.

And GoIrish can breath a sigh of relief :)
Kings reach verbal agreement on multi-year deal with Doughty

The Los Angeles Kings have reached a verbal agreement on a multi-year contract with prized defenceman Drew*Doughty.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, the deal is an*eight year contract worth*$56 million.

The agreement brings to a close what was believed to be a difficult negotiation between Doughty and Kings that had dragged through the summer and into September with very little progress. Doughty missed all five of Los Angeles' pre-season games as negotiations dragged on.

Doughty, 21, has built a strong resume after three NHL seasons. The native of London, Ontario has 126 points in 239 contests while quarterbacking the Kings' power play, and was a finalist for the Norris Trophy after the 2009-10 season. He*was also named the Kings Outstanding Defenceman for three straight seasons*and he was voted as the clubs best newcomer following his first year with the Kings. He was also on the gold medal-winning Canadian team at the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Doughty statistically ranks among the best defencemen to ever play for the Kings.* His nine career game-winning goals ranks fourth all-time among Kings defencemen and his 17 career power-play goals ranks ninth all-time.* He also ranks 12th on the all-time list in career goals (33), 13th on the all-time list in both career assists (93) and career points (126), and tied for 15th on the all-time list in career plus/minus rating (plus-16).

The 6-foot, 211-pound defenceman was the Kings' first-round choice, second overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

I am very, very happy to have him signed. I am not sure about the 7 mil, but I am very glad they were able to lock him up for 8 years. I think that term is good. He is locked up through 4 years of UFA.

We'll see. I wrote on a Kings blog about how I will never boo one of my teams or players, but I fully understand why Doughty's image may be tarnished in a lot of fans' eyes. He had better come out one motivated and focused m-f'er!

The roster does look much, much better with Doughty in it!
