The have the worst stadium hot dogs in existence. Is it a coincidence that they have a large veterinary school?

"Purdue fans also love to talk **** about Notre Dame’s Subway Alum. They arrogantly say, well I went to Purdue but you didn’t go to Notre Dame, so how could you be a fan? Purdue fans can’t fathom what it is like to be significant enough to draw fans who aren’t alums, let alone well known enough to have fans around the world who have never even been in the United States cheer for their team. As the saying goes, Notre Dame has subway alums and Purdue has alums who work at Subway."

THANK YOU!! I am SICK of hearing this arguement from a lot of college fans, i.e. my FSU Alum Neighbor. Sorry I guess I could have gotten accepted into MSU (grew up in Michigan) and was accepted into WMU, CMU and even IU but chose not to go there but chose a football scholarship and a better education at a D2 school. I would have preferred to attend ND but wasnt a good enough football player to get a scholarship and sure as hell couldnt afford the tuition! BTW I believe if you can chew gum and walk you can get accepted into FSU!

I went to Purdue for my undergrad, so here's an honest, inside view:

-Purdue fans have a massive inferiority complex. They are behind ND in football, and IU in basketball. The Boilers don't have bragging rights in any major sport in Indiana, and it kills them.

-The Notre Dame game is 100x bigger than the season finale "Battle for the Old Oaken Bucket." Purdue fans would rather see ND lose a game than Purdue win one.

-Even the most delusional Purdue homers knew the Drew Brees era was an anomaly, and not a sign of things to come, so that adds to the bitterness.

-You have to go to a Purdue bowl game (which is rare) to see that they actually have some reasonable, decent fans. The students are obnoxious, but what do you expect with "Breakfast Club" on campus every Saturday for a home game?

*Throughout my time at Purdue I saw the good, the bad, and the ugly. Overall, I have no animosity towards them, and wish the Boilers well 11 games a year.

I'm actually more surprised that it's not a 300 level class.

While he is a rare bird, a good buddy of mine is an FSU fan who went their during their best years. But now, in addition to the Seminoles, he watches the Irish with me every Saturday. He admires what they stand for.

I hate going to football games at Purdue because of all the gimmicks used. I feel like their games are more about the jumbotron, trains driving across the field, a stupid drum, bells, whistles, etc. Oh well, if I were a Purdue fan, I'd want something to distract me from having to actually watch the game, so I guess I can understand.

I went to Purdue as well, and as a a Purdue basketball fan I can tell you there is no inferiority complex when it comes to basketball. In fact, in all of Big10 history, Purdue has been one of, if not the best, programs. Purdue basketball fans are proud and do not envy any school. They may not have the most national championships, but they do have the most Big10 championships. And they may not have the best winning percentage, but they have a winning record against EVERY Big10 team. With the exception of a couple of decades (around the late 20's and 50's) and most of the Bob Knight era (although Knight only has a 1-game edge on Keady), Purdue has historically been the best team in Indiana and has an enormous lead head to head against IU.

But if you're talking about numbers of fans, revenue, popularity, ratings, etc... then no, Purdue can't compete with IU.

However, Purdue has done things the right way and has beaten the crap out of IU with players that have had half the talent or potential (except as of late). Not saying IU is "SEC school" low, but they can't say they've always done things the right way. That reason is why I love to cheer for Notre Dame football and Purdue basketball.

I'm at purdue now, and I hate that people here think they are the greatest BigTen basketball program of all time, because they have all the conference banners. The only thing that trumps a conference title, is a national title. Something purdue does not have, and IU has 5 of. I love purdue basketball, but they need a serious reality check

Agree 100%, Purdue has had the best of IU for he last 3 years is due to the fact kelvin sampson had problems with texting hs boys. As a result Tom Crean has IU playing college ball with a team made up of smurfs. IU will be back soon enough, lord I hope sooner rather than later.

As far as rivalries go, Purdue's in the same category as Navy and Pitt. I don't really give half a damn if we beat them, but I will be severely pissed if we lose to them.

What do you call a female Purdue fan with 2 brain cells?

Pregnant.

What is the difference between a Purdue coed and a toilet?
The toilet doesn't follow you around after you use it.

What does a Purdue co-ed and a quarter in the toilet have in common?
Everyone looks at them, but no one wants to take them out.

How do you get a Purdue coed into an old VW bug?
Grease her thighs and put a twinkie on the dashboard.

What is the difference between a Purdue Co-ed heading to the cafeteria and a speeding bullet?
Superman can stop the speeding bullet.

It takes at least three Purdue coeds to play hide-n-seek. One goes to hide and the other two try to figure out who left.

Purdue coeds have that far-away look. The farther away they get, the better they look.

need I go further??....... Has anyone realized I do not like Purdue?????

Hahaha those are good. ND fans ripping on Purdue girls is the epitome of "pot meet kettle" though.

We have some good posters here who graduated from Purdue. Let's avoid anything that insults the quality of a Purdue education or the intelligence of its graduates.

Besides, it doesn't really help our elitist image either.

All though you are correct, it has nothing to with academics. I simply am doing it to rough up some feathers so to speak.

By all means, do whatever you feel necessary. I was merely suggesting that we stop insulting Purdue as an academic institution, and the intelligence of its students/ graduates on this message board, since we have some good posters here who are either current students or alumni.

Q. Whats the difference between Purdue and cheerios?
A. One belongs in a bowl. The other doesn't!

Q. Did you hear about the Purdue quarterback who tried to throw himself on the floor in a fit of rage?
A. He missed!

Q. Why do Purdue students have TGIF on their shoes?
A. Toes Go In First!

Q. Why do Boilermakers put a copy of their diploma in the window of their vehicles?
A. So they can park in handicap spaces.

Q: Where was O.J. hiding right before the famous white Bronco chase?
A: On the Purdue campus. That's the last place you would find a football player.

Thanks WhiskeyJack for firing me back up!!!!!!!

Rik- make the shirt and ruffle some feathers, but don't take the Purdue trash talk personal. You don't want to get in a physical fight and get arrested over a football game. I have fun with the subway line, but I don't say it maliciously. If you want blood go back to the blog there is a little battle going on over there. Haha.

Be safe and have fun at the game. A lot of Purdue fans annoy me as I said in the article, but I know a lot of good ones too.

Sorry if there are typos, I'm on a phone.

I don't take any of the insults directed towards Purdue personally. This is an ND board, and it would be selfish on my part to expect everyone to "play nice" when the topic is Purdue just because I went there. I do appreciate Whiskey's stance nonetheless, for that is a classy fan through and through.

No need to talk trash with Purdue, we've had their number every year for the last six years aside from the 2007 debacle of a season. I've got bigger fish to fry, namely Michigan and USC.

Lets just have a nice, respectable game and get a win at Ross Ade

A view from the south...

A view from the south...

The thing that bothers me with Purdue fans is that they think they are way better than they are, at every sport. I moved to a small town in southern Indiana when I was in 4th grade, and ever since then, I don't get why they have been so high on their football program. Who did they have? A random draft pick mixed in with the legacy of Drew Brees? Point is, I am sick and tired of hearing uneducated college football fans of Purdue say their program is on the rise, Notre Dame is overrated, etc. Let's go out and skull**** these guys!
