... Truth is Rees IS singling in on Floyd too much. That is a FACT. While I would argue that Eifert is getting his fair share, I would also argue that TJ and Theo aren't getting nearly enough targets.
Didn't look at the actual stats when you make up a FACT, did you Piombino?
Eifert has 4 more receptions than TJ and 5 more than Theo AND THEY CAME ON THE LAST TD DRIVE OF THE GAME WHEN REES HIT 9 IN A ROW INCLUDING THE XP!
Isn't Floyd the All-American candidate? The one that an NFL scout said is a 1st Rounder?
Isn't TJ the one that has trouble remembering to look on crossing routes?
Isn't Theo the one struggling in all elements of his game, and yet, he's still has almost half the catches that the Biletnikoff candidate has?
As for the TEs Eifert is the second leading receiver on the team and as BestBIrish noted Ragone the #2 TE was lost for the season early, #3 TE Welch has been out most of the season with a foot injury, and #4 Golic has a broken arm and hasn't been available. ND is playing a true freshman as the other TE out of necessity which limits the passing attack as well as hinders the running game.
Floyd had 35% of the season total receptions and a couple of those were thrown by Crist who also correctly favored Floyd. Last year Crist favored Floyd until he got hurt then he went to Rudolph heavily. Smart lad!
BTW, Broyles of Oklahoma has 34 receptions, one less than Floyd but for a higher % of his teams catches, 37%, as his team only has 92 receptions. The #2 receiver at OU only has 7 catches. What is Landry thinking? Why does Stoops tolerate such madness? At USC Robert Woods has 40% of his teams receptions while the talented Marqise Lee ony has 13. Somebody needs to straighten Barkley out. The nation's leading receiver according to NCAA rankings is Mohamed Sanu of Rutgers with 36 receptions. The next receiver on his team has 5. Sanu has 58% of his teams receptions.
