I'm new hear so this subject may have already been gone over. I haven't been able to watch a full ND game uet this season but one thing I have noticed is that the tight end, at ND, seems to be non exsistent this year.
Seems Rees only has eyes for No. 3 and that, in my opinion, is what is causing this offense to be so inconsistent. I'm not a basher of Rees but his focusing in on Floyd so much allows double and triple coverage on 3. If it hadn't been for 2 and 3 DB's fighting for the ball I think their would have been even more IT's.
ND for the past several years have recruted great TE's so why aren't they more of the offense?

Eifert had a really good game Saturday, Ragone is out for the Season, Welch is healing a foot injury, Golic was injured maybe still is, and Koyak played this saturday.

Eifert had a great game against Pitt. Pitt double-teamed Floyd, and Rees made adjustments to go with the TE or another receiver. Your argument doesn't hold much water.

Dude, Eifert is on pace for 800 yards and 4 touchdowns. Sure, Rees can spread the ball around more, we get that. But a TE just can't be the focal point of an offense.

I simply don't know what you expect. 20 receptions and 244 yards through four games is fine. Then when you realize that he is the SECOND-LEADING RECEIVER on the team, I just don't get you're point.

Hey, as I said, I have been able to watch only parts of any of the 4 games. What I have watched it just seemed that Rees, and I say again I am not a Rees detractor, focused too much on 3. But, I stand down and will zip up on tight ends.

I don't know why you're givin the new guy such a hard time. Truth is Rees IS singling in on Floyd too much. That is a FACT. While I would argue that Eifert is getting his fair share, I would also argue that TJ and Theo aren't getting nearly enough targets.

A scientific fact?

I believe that this thread is/was about our TE position. Some folks will redirect ANY thread into a Rees-bash.

Our tight end production and talent is fine. One of the last things to worry about. When both Ragone AND Welch were hurt, we STILL had two good ones.

Easy, you. No one is bashing Rees. I will root for him him so long as he's our man, but I don't have to agree with the decision to keep him in there.

Didn't look at the actual stats when you make up a FACT, did you Piombino?

Eifert has 4 more receptions than TJ and 5 more than Theo AND THEY CAME ON THE LAST TD DRIVE OF THE GAME WHEN REES HIT 9 IN A ROW INCLUDING THE XP!

Isn't Floyd the All-American candidate? The one that an NFL scout said is a 1st Rounder?

Isn't TJ the one that has trouble remembering to look on crossing routes?

Isn't Theo the one struggling in all elements of his game, and yet, he's still has almost half the catches that the Biletnikoff candidate has?

As for the TEs Eifert is the second leading receiver on the team and as BestBIrish noted Ragone the #2 TE was lost for the season early, #3 TE Welch has been out most of the season with a foot injury, and #4 Golic has a broken arm and hasn't been available. ND is playing a true freshman as the other TE out of necessity which limits the passing attack as well as hinders the running game.

Floyd had 35% of the season total receptions and a couple of those were thrown by Crist who also correctly favored Floyd. Last year Crist favored Floyd until he got hurt then he went to Rudolph heavily. Smart lad!

BTW, Broyles of Oklahoma has 34 receptions, one less than Floyd but for a higher % of his teams catches, 37%, as his team only has 92 receptions. The #2 receiver at OU only has 7 catches. What is Landry thinking? Why does Stoops tolerate such madness? At USC Robert Woods has 40% of his teams receptions while the talented Marqise Lee ony has 13. Somebody needs to straighten Barkley out. The nation's leading receiver according to NCAA rankings is Mohamed Sanu of Rutgers with 36 receptions. The next receiver on his team has 5. Sanu has 58% of his teams receptions.

A football fact. Can you honestly deny any of that?

He doesn't have too. I just documented the real numbers from UND.com's stats.

I noticed you didn't bother posting any when claiming your "FACT".

Eifert, TJ, and Theo were in a dead heat before that successful game winning TD Drive. Kelly pointed in the post game show that Eifert was the primary target on the drive.

But don't let the documented facts get in the way of your misconceptions.

BGIF: Nail, head, end thread.

I'll agree that he keys in on him at times, but it's Michael Floyd. A 50/50 ball to Floyd is not always the worst outcome. Rees is doing alright, he needs to grow as a QB. He's a true sophomore. I thought a few times on Saturday to get Rees out and Dayne in, but that wasn't the best action for the team's future. Thank God we aren't the coaches.
