Heinz Field is going to be dead on Saturday too. No reason it shouldn't be a 3+ score win

my early prediction: ND 94 Pitt -3

they lose 3 points because they had to hire 2 head coaches this offseason.

We have far more talent than Pitt and match up well with them. This one should be a comfortable victory.

We also have/had a more talented team than scUM, but being good on paper doesn't always translate.

I hope we win, and get on a roll, but I won't claim a 21 point win just yet...

i really hope we win because this is my b-day and it would just not be a good day if the irish was to lose. I think we win this game going away. say a 17 to 21 point win.

I went on a Pitt board and asked for a scouting report, here was the only in-depth response:

Ray Graham is our running back and he is a monster. Our passing offense is fine in terms of yardage, but our qb stinks and constantly makes terrible decisions. He is turnover prone, a bad runner despite decent athletic ability, and he does not fit the system. He makes reads far too slow and often times holds the ball much longer than the staff would like.

Our run defense is stout, and our dline is strong and has a great pass rush, until they tire, which is sure to happen because our offense either scores quickly or turns it over quickly.

Our pass defense is terrible, and our lbs are terrible in coverage. I think we have above average talent in the secondary, but our coaches have them playing too passive, and thus they give up too much short stuff.

We looked very good against Iowa in the 3rd quarter and then collapsed in the 4th because our qb was inept and our D was tired/happy to play prevent.
----------------

I expect a shootout against ND, I don't think we will be able to stop you and I don't think you guys have any defense to stop us. I think you guys win, but the game should be close and good (though between very average teams). Many Pitt fans are very "woe is me" and will tell you that we suck and you guys will kill us, but I'm certain it should be a close game either way.

Our good players are: Dev Street WR, Hubie Graham H-Back, Ray Graham RB, Mike Shanahan WR, Chris Jacobson LG, Chas Alexic DL, Aaron Donald DL, and Jarred Holley Safety

If we dont turn the ball over we will win by at least 2 touchdowns.

if we don't turn the ball over we win by at least 3 touchdowns. we turned it over THREE times yesterday and won by 18, and MSU is a much, much better team than Pitt

We dont know how good Michigan State is yet. They have only played 1 real team and that was us, they played the almighty Youngstwon St and the powerhouse Florida Atlantic the first 2 weeks. Until they start beating quality teams, I dont think MSU is all that good.

Tommy's not that bad, but for a second there I thought that was a disgruntled Irish fan.

That isn't about Tommy, its about Sunseri.

I know. That's why I said "for a second there I thought this was a disgruntled Irish fan". I should have made it more clear, my bad. I was just saying that their current QB sounds a lot like Rees from that fan's perspective.

No problem, I misread your post.

I know right, if this guy thinks Pitt has a better running attack and o-line than MSU he's crazy. I've watched Pitt play a full game this year (against Maine) and they cannot run the ball against our D-line. 124 on the ground, vs. Maine. 94 on the ground vs. a down Iowa team. He's nuts sack.

Pitt does not look solid as a rock. Given the circumstances of both teams heading into next week, I think that predicting a sloppy, turnover riddled game is not a bold prediction. My belief is that we win that one on the same note as we did today, beeing better along the lines.

I kinda get the feeling this guy wears a helmet and rides a short bus.

Pittsburgh simply won't have the guys to cover Floyd or this offense like Michigan State could. Michigan State is on the lower end of being considered good, and it showed as they gave the Irish offense fits as they seemingly knew what was coming at them. Too many "almost" big plays for me to feel very happy about the offense last game. Brian Kelly will need to mix it up against Pittsburgh, they don't have the talent to run with the Irish and I want to see it on the field.

Offensively, I wouldn't want to be in a situation to rely on the running game against the Irish. No one has run on them very well yet. Graham is the nation's third-leading rusher and I expect that the Irish defense will want to prove something against a guy like that.
