Sparty was the best game we played last year, except for that fake FG, but Sparty has played Youngstown and FL Atl...not hard to look tough when you play nobody.

Notre Dame needs to stop beating themselves. They are the only team they've lost to this season! I have faith in my Irish. We will beat Sparty, and if we don't, I'm sure BK is gonna beat ND with a rubber hose.

How anybody can say they guarantee that ND beats MSU on Saturday is INSANE. Do they have a chance? YES! Do they have a decent chance? YES! Is this team talented enough to beat MSU? YES! Is this team capable of absolutely dominating MSU for 50 mins and then sink like the Titanic? HELL YES!!!

I wouldn't guarantee a thing with this team unless it was a guarantee to either turn the ball over or get a penalty at the worse in-opportune moment.

I want them to win and turn things around, but for anybody to risk beer? Sex? Shaving? on a GUARENTEE with this team needs to get their heads examined.

To follow up on WILL ND RETURN?'s post, I was browsing MGoBlog earlier (very bored), and they have an Irish schadenfreude post for sharing instances where an Irish fan talked smack and then had to eat it with the last second comeback.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I haven't felt confident enough to smack talk anyone in the decade or so that I've been following ND closely.

You can't justify it. Not one bit. For example, to any ND basher out there that ask's the question before this season, "Why is ND ranked 16th in the pre-season?". The obvious response by everybody is that we won our last 4 games last year and are returning alot of guys that went on that run... But seriously, how is that even a justifable answer?

Listen, I was just as hyped and pumped for this season as everyone. And I always looked as posts from the like of NDOM and others as highly pessemistic, and almost to the level of worse case scenerio. But the facts are facts! And while alot of the issues that have destroyed the team this year thus far are mind-boggling, the fact is that ITS NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER YEAR! Every year its the same ole thing. Some are more optimistic than others, and then regardless of everything, ND under achieves and loses in ways that aren't even plausible for other teams.

Hopefully you guys do. At our tailgate, the folks across the street always set up an HDTV, so after Michigan's game we'll go over there and watch a little probably. We did that the last time Michigan played eastern back in 2009, because Michigan's game was a Noon start and of course the ND-State game was a 3:30 so it worked out well.

How about any point in the last 10 years? Even during 2005 and 2006, there were serious question marks with the program that prevented me from really feeling confident against quality competition.

By smack talk, I mean something more like, "Man, you guys suck. My team is so much better than yours. Just wait until we prove it on the field." Irish fans haven't been able to talk that way with confidence for a long as$ time; not that I would if given the chance.

Wasn't that 2005? OT game I think when Brady Quinn went ballistic in the 4th quarter to tie up?

I must say this....as much as the 2006 "monsoon" game hurt [you know the game played in Hurricane Katrina when our then coach John L Smith decided to pull our RB who had 200 yards rushing and decided to start throwing the ball] it was the beginning of the end of that cowboy and the start of the Dantonio era which all Spartan fans rejoice.

The only smack talk I can ever do is against the people who root for teams simply because they do well and don't know about how they cheat.

Im looking to go to this game. Two tickets needed. I know I can get them at a broker or auction site, but have already bought for two games on those sites and grossly over paid for the USF game (talked to a scalper selling virtually the same tix for face). If anyone can help out a fellow irish fan please help! Otherwise I'll just go and see about scalping them. Any suggestions would help too!
