I posted this separately in another thread but wanted to start a separate thread because I think this is the ticket to return to our winning ways.

I'm new here, but I've been studying the system of Gus Malzahn, currently the offensive coordinator at Auburn.

Auburn is really pitiful this year, yet they've been able to win with a pathetic defense thanks to Malzahn's high powered offensive schemes.

You look back at this guy's record, and everywhere he goes - Arkansas, then Tulsa, and now Auburn - he's added close to 20 points a game on average from their point totals before his arrival. The SEC is one of the toughest, if not the toughest conference in the country, and his system is giving those defenses fits. That translates to a lot of wins. Scoring is a huge part of the game. The other part is defense and Notre Dame can attract a top defensive coordinator. There's no doubt about it.

We need to hire Gus Malzahn and set him up with a good defensive coordinator and our championship days will be back.

Somebody just needs to look at this guys record and see the obvious truth - that he is an offensive genius and his system will work anywhere.

Didn't they say the same thing about BK? I say the offense is fine, the mental mistakes are what is killing the team. In fact, it has been really nice to see ND run the ball effectively. I just wish the end result was different. Go Irish!

What if we got a coach with eight conference championships and two national championships? Oh wait.

You're living Charlie Weis 2.0 right now, dumb ***. I guess you want to keep getting your *** beat.

I stand corrected. You're not only not likely to be old here, you're not likely to be here long enough to even leave a scent behind.

"We" need to hire Gus Malzhan, but "you're" living CW 2.0?

Hey Slider............you stink!

These newcommers from just the past weekend are feisty aren't they? Should we make a new thread for them just to list what not to do on day 1 at IE? I mean, they're dropping like flies.

I meant that they (general public, writers, ESPN pundits, etc.) said that BK would bring a high octane offense to ND (i.e. Spread), not necessarily the point differential stat you pointed out.

Did they? Did his record show that he averaged 20 points higher than his predecessors? Because Malzahn's record proves that.

I'm not in a hole. I don't play at ND, or anywhere. I also don't jump on the next flavor of the week OC because my favorite team didn't start exactly how Phil Steele said it would.

So again go fall in a hole please because I like to read what the intelligent people on this site have to say.

Gus Malzahn? Might as well go after the ole' ball coach at south Carolina. All jokes aside, BK is the guy. No doubt about that. Dial down the mistakes and we have an unstoppable offense!
Go Irish!

why stop with him. hell why not go get nick s. from bama. to rebuild a program takes alittle time and we are fine with bk as coach. he has to get to detph of players in here and get them coached up. we will be great again soon.

There's a slight difference in age between Malzahn and Spurrier.

Saban is well payed and he can recruit just fine at Alabama. He's said that he's not interested in leaving and you can rest assured that the school would match whatever Notre Dame would offer. That's beyond a long shot. I'm talking about realistic options here, folks.

You're living Charlie Weis 2.0 right now, dumb ***. I guess you want to keep getting your *** beat.

Brian Kelly has 21 years of head coaching experience and a 73% win percentage. He brought GVS, CMU, and Cincinnati to the top of their respective conferences.

Gus Malzahn has only 5 years of experience as a coordinator. Maybe you weren't paying attention, but we just recently fired a coach who was also touted as an offensive genius, but it turns out you need to know more than Xs and Os to run a successful program.

Jumping on the Malzahn train is just as stupid as claiming Golson should be starting. No QB/ coach is more popular than the guy who hasn't played/ coached a single game yet.

You're above post is idiotic for many reasons, but here are the most obvious: (1) Kelly and Weis are nothing alike, and this team looks much better all around than any team Charlie coached; (2) we haven't gotten our "as$es beat" once yet, since we statistically dominated both USF and UM, only to lose to our own stupid mistakes; and (3) calling for Kelly's job 15 games into his career is beyond ridiculous.

If Kelly can't bring the Irish back, we're done. Get on-board, or go route for another team.
