I find the irony very thick that Stonum has been playing Floyd in practice. I made note of that on Mgoblog and they had the audacity to bring up how Hoke has "integrity" over Kelly. Stonum is "suspended" for the the year even though his Red Shirt entitles him to practice with the team the whole time.

It proabably also makes Robinson a difficult runner to stay with. I think he's going to have a difficult time contending with Nix and company filling the lanes. But a sloppy field is gonna make the big guys look like Harrison on the face mask penalties, stretched out and reaching for something to grab.

As for our pass attack, Rees wasn't too shabby on a wet field last Saturday.

Wood would benefit just like Robinson on a wet field.

I think if anything our passing attack would gain an advatange moreso than Denard. In the passing game, the WRs know the route they are running. Once they make their breaks, the DBs have to plant and react, which is very difficult to do on a slick surface.

Additionally, while the wet field will slow everybody down from a pure speed perspective, depending on how wet it actually gets it could negatively impact the players ability to make sharp cuts, stops, etc which is what makes Denard so lethal. So while it may not be advantageous to us from a speed perspective, it may cut down on his ability to stop, start, cut and freeze defenders in their tracks like he does so well. Wet fields are more conducive to a power running game in my opinion...something Michigan does not have.

Wet grass is diffrent than wet field turf though. The field turf will still be slick, but it wont come apart and get tore up by the players footing. It may not cause as much of a blow to players as you think.

I still never got an answer on how it shows Michigan has more integrity when Stonum has 2 DUIs and will miss 0 games. What would Michigan like to see Floyd get? A redshirt like Stonum? Then that would mean that 2 DUIs brings the same punishment as 1 DUI.

Doesn't add up.

Keep patting yourself on the back UM. If that is what you call integrity then by all means you can have it.

It looks like it will be rainy on Saturday, no? How does that effect the game? Which team does it benefit?

When is the last time that happened (against a team with a pulse)?

Penn State 2006?
Utah 2010? 28 points is hardly "bizerk."

Yes, I think it would have been Penn State in 2006. Penn State didn't have a chance. Zibby played out of his mind that day.

i have been getting a lot of flack from michigan fans lately on some other boards. at first, after USF, i was just hoping that Notre Dame looked better. win or lose i wanted the team to look like a strong college football squad.

but after hearing it from the michigan crowd, i hope we hang half a hundred on these clowns.

For those of you not old enough to have seen it live, this was a great game.

That is pretty funny. Especially considering how mods on that site made a post explaining how different the two situations were when the story broke.

One day away from the biggest game of year....

Watching Notre Dame tape for a SC breakdown tomorrow am. Cierre Wood is running his tail off. ND Off is dangerous if it cuts the charity act

Nice to see somebody else besides some of us on this board the potential for a deadly offense last week. We moved the ball at will all game long and could have dropped 50 last week without the TOs. Our OL is big and physical. Martin is a beast for them and has a high motor, but he's only one man and I honestly dont think they have another guy on that whole defense who would start for ND, and many of their starters would have a tough time cracking our 2-deep.

I expect to see a LOT of Louis Nix this week. Coach Kelly you could tell was very impressed with him last week, and having somebody disreputive and immovable in the middle can hopefully slow down some of what they like to do on offense with guards and centers getting to the next level in a hurry.

Martin might have gotten dinged up against W. Michigan. He looked to be coming off the field frequently. If his reps are limited, Cierre is gonna have a field day.

I think Eiffert has a huge game Saturday night. If we control the middle of the field, it will open things up for Theo and Floyd. I have a feeling BK unleashes the full arsenal and we run the skunkbears off their own field.

Can we show this to our players, either for the message or for the comedic relief:

ND Through the Enemy's Eyes

ND Through the Enemy's Eyes

As long as they're somewhat objective, I enjoy reading about ND from the perspective of upcoming opponents. This practice often reveals weaknesses that we tend to overlook with our green-tinted glasses.

To that end, here are three articles that might be worth your time:

colintj at Maize n Brew offers a good Xs and Os breakdown of Kelly's favorite constraint plays.

BlueSeoul at MGoBlog wrote up a scouting report on ND.

And Brian at MGoBlog previews the UM-ND matchup.

This caught my eye:

Key Matchup: Mike Martin vs Cave, etc. Martin is supposed to be banged up. If he's ineffective that takes a major source of the zero-yard plays Michigan needs to kick ND off the field out of play. This is the time to Make A Statement.

Be warned that the authors are Michigan fans, so they do rip on ND. If you have thin skin, you might want to return to the Kool-Aid in other threads.

If we win every game from this point on...then maybe I forgive the boys for dropping the ball against USF.

To me it's a do or die game. We win, we carry confidence and win 10 games. We lose, we lose everything and freak out. Maybe a 500 season with people calling for BK's head and the likes of Darby & crew long gone..

Har. It has nothing to do with forgiving the team; my comment was more along the lines of when I'll feel optimistic about the season again. If we finish September 2-2 (or worse, God help us), it's gonna be another year of wasted potential.
