Gents and I know afew ladies. I know im not the most respected guy here I know im negative nancy and debbie downer and the sky is falling guy times a thousand but can we salvage a season can we do anything? Im want to believe I really really really do but Iguys I just dont see it. This was supposed to be the year we shook things up and we fell and fell hard to (not knocking them) a team we shouldnt have lost to. How are we going to beat Michigan in the biggest game in the history of their stadium with the most hostile crowd ever? How we going to beat MSU if we cant exectue with good big ten D's? How are we going to to keep a streak against USC when they have better athletes than the Bulls? Im trying to think of a way this all ends up ok I really really am and I know I might upset a few posters and a few mods but ireally is this how the season will be? Are we just sestined to be the middle of the road team from now on? I know many of you on here have much much more stress in life and what I go through on a daily basis is maybe a vacation for some of you but I have had a bad week, my gf is away taking a class she needs and I wont see her again until haloween, had a bad week of school, and a bad day at work and I came home just ready to watch this game, tears filled my eyes as it opened and it took me back to my days as a kid wearing my nd jearsey playing football against ym invisible opponents on my way to the heisman and then BAM! Just like this week reality hurt and Im just at a total loss I didnt know what else to do, usually when this happens I vent on boards because I have no where else to turn because I cant vent this to non fans they just dont get it. Thanks for reading sorry if im being a pessimist sorry if i said some bad things in the game thread.

I wasn't saying play a perfect game. But i agree with you 100%. I was just giving examples of the mistakes we made.

Look at the positives...

This is nothing like the 2007-2008 losses we had to endure.

Our defence played really well and will only get better... allowed 254 yards.

Our offence wasn't bad... 508 total yard, 104 yards for Cierre. We left at least 12, maybe 24 points off the board.

We beat ourselves today. One game does not make a season. Hopefully we will see the discipline we exhibited last year for the rest of the season.

The one aspect that worries me is our punter. I'm hoping our Riddick's issues were due to first game jitters. If not, put Goodman back in there asap.


One last point... many think USF can win the Big East...

Well, you have to realize today was just a horrendous display of football displayed by Notre Dame that won't be displayed again (I hope) because if it does happen again then Notre Dame really IS screwed as it would show that we have a completely incompetent team. I mean, what happened today would be totally disgraceful and unacceptable on my freaking high school team. However, the things you can take away from this game are

(1) We have a few ELITE players in Floyd and Wood. a good defense, and a good o-line. If the rest of the players on the field can just not SUCK like they did today, those people and groups should be able to win us games
(2) BOTH qb's are capable of winning games, however maybe Rees has the better composure or whatever... idk
(3) The players got a wake up call I think and realize they can't win with all of the screwing up they did today... they have to play perfect or as near to perfect to win games.
