Rushed for 126 yards on 15 carries, scores on a 38 and 14 yard runs. On a side note I have an uncle who works at ND and he heard that Perkins is going to have to better his GPA for ND.

Kinda doubt he needs more than just marginal improvement. They waited on an offer until he got test scores back, and once he did they were good enough to offer. If there were serious questions on his GPA I really doubt that he would have gotten the offer.

I clearly recall way earlier in this thread waiting on his fresh test scores so he could finally get an offer. And the nearly immediate commitment that followed said offer......page 9

Haha. How old is Ortiz anyway? If steroids age a man, that fact combined with his background should put him in the 50s easily. Go away.

P.S. Tell Beckett to please stop taking 30 seconds between pitches. I would like this game to end before I have to wake up tomorrow.

lol...every pitch is worth it right now...a rod can't stay healthy now that he's off the juice.

it is unbelievable how long these games take with beckett.

I thought I couldn't hate a Sawx pitcher more than Curt, but Beckett is seriously giving him a run for his money in my book.

Thank you for the stream. I sat through about 8 minutes but like Beau said they lag was killing me. Something I noticed is that Perkins was not on offense the whole drive I watched. For the poeple that put his offensive numbers up against Deiter.

And speaking of Deiter it seemed like every single time the QB dropped back to pass, Deiter was his number on target and would throw it even if he was not open. Makes sense since Deiter is probably their number one offensive weapon.

Here are some half-baked observations of one half of one football game:

A). Perkins is a defensive player. And he is an outside linebacker. One sequence at corner he bit on an up and the opposing QB threw his one perfect pass to a streaking receiver for six. The coach did not put him at CB again. He IS however a terrific linebacker. The opponents actually seemed to deliberately avoid him. When he was in Cat/Crash mode [which was at least half the time] the QB was hurrying bad throws whether he needed to or not --- i.e. he was smelling footsteps.

B). Perkins, as much as some would want him to be, is not an offensive player [in college]. As a running back he is a big fast powerful man, who doesn't seem to do anything special once he gets the ball --- i.e. if the gap's there, he'll explode through it, but if not, not. His main value to this team is blocking for his QB to have enough time to pass.

C). Gehrig has astoundingly good hands and coordination. He also is freaky at skirting through gaps in space and making lots of YAC. That said, if this game is any indication [and it may not be], I wouldn't offer him either. Why??

D). I saw a guy out-of-shape [Perkins in contrast seemed to be in good shape]--- hands-on-knees gassed after almost every play. His teammates were NOT this way. I saw a guy last on the field, constantly walking, and almost never even involved in a huddle with his teammates. [sometimes after a play, he'd never make it back into the camera's field of view]. I saw a guy who as far as I could tell never blocked for his teammates; two calls for Perkins were especially egregious. I saw a guy who never congratulated his teammates [a fellow receiver caught a TD pass; he never walked the ten feet over to him, although other teammates ran over]. Perkins is not the best at this either, although there seems more camaraderie on that defensive side than offense --- their center seems the only real "congratulatory-type" player on the squad most plays.

All that sounds rough, but I'm prefacing this with the "after only watching one half...etc" remark. What I saw was freak talent with almost none of the other attributes I'm looking for in a big-time receiver. The concept of hustling over to the area of the play was "greek" to this player [Perkins DID hustle over]. The concept of getting involved with contact [in situations other than receiving a pass for a possible score] also seemed foreign. Maybe the guy was sick. Maybe the guy was hurt. I know none of that. It's just that "whatever" there were flags leaping out all over this game at me. Hopefully my shallow evaluation is wrong.

Perkins threw a punch.

The team is running up the score in a game that was already 63-10.

NDatRivals Irish Illustrated
David Perkins throws a punch/shove that leads to a fight in a 63-10 game. Perkins was back returning a punt in this blowout.

That was after:

NDatRivals Irish Illustrated
Guess what Gehrig Dieter scores again. This time a 90-yard TD. Oddly, Washington throwing deep up 63-10 early in the fourth. Off playaction!

“@Blue5GoldBoom: Get hit 5 seconds after the play is over then brushes the player off me...out of control after that...”

I bet this game will be making the nightly and morning news for the amount of poor sportsmanship and all the ties it has to ND.
