So I plan on going back to my alma mater this next weekend to see my best friend and the rest of my friends play their next college game, the only one I'll see all year. The problem is Notre Dame plays. When I was in college last year Notre Dame came first, but since this is the only game I'll go to I need to figure out which is more important. Nd plays at 2:30, my friends game is at 5 so I should be able to watch most of the Irish, but the question is do I watch all of the Irish and show up to that game late? or leave and watch all of my friends from start to finish???

Depends how close the ND game is. If ND is up by more than 2 TD's go to your friends game on time, if not you go late. Problem solved.

Only game you'll see? And he's your best friend?

Go to his game for sure. We say "God, Country, Notre Dame" but really family and friends come before it.

You'll probably hate leaving the game early to begin with, but after you have a great time cheering on your friends, you'll realize why you did what you did.

Watch the ND game. Then, go watch your friend. After the game take him out and buy him a few beers. Then tell him you missed some of the game to see ND curb stomp USF. If you're really best friends, he'll for sure say no big deal, as long as you buy him a few more beers.

I will add my own though to that. If he is really your friend he will call you a ****ing jackass for missing part of his game and then make you buy him a few drinks and everything will be fine.

You know how long this off-season??? You get 12 of these all year, hopefully 13. And then it's back to 39 lonnnnng weekends without ND football. There's a couple of things I'll miss an ND game for (family or close friend's wedding, anything to do with my own children), but not much.

I'd watch the entire ND game and get to your buddy's game late, as many have said. Have someone tape his game and watch it later. The real fun is hanging out with your friends after the game anyway...

ND vs USF will be over by half time, so don't sweat it.

IMHO this is a non problem. The obvious answer is to buy an I-Pad2, 3g tablet and watch the ND game on it. (NBC streams the game on NBC.com.) That way you can be in the stands for your friend's game and not miss the ND game.
And it only requires the investment of a few dollars.
A less expensive way is to invite your friends to watch the game with you and you all will be late. I am sure their coach will see the importance of this and understand.

In my younger years, this would have been quite obvious...watch the ND game and show up late to your friends game. As I've gotten older and priorities are what they are....I'd say make sure you are at your friends game in its entirety, as its the only time you'll be able to see them play this year. Some have said if he's your best friend, he'd understand....I say if your his best friend, then you'd understand.

Ask yourself this.........

If you ever find yourself in jail, who is more likely to come post bail for you, your friend or someone from ND?

Seriously, you should go see your friend's game.

Friends and family are priority. Plus we'll have our 2nd string in at that point anyway. (uhm, *knock on wood*)

I have to sacrifice my kick off day as well, my sister is gettin married at 5 on the 3rd. Now my dilema is to watch the first half and then catch the 2nd half on dvr later or just dvr the whole thing and watch it later. Only problem with the 2nd choice is i wont be able to watch any other football for fear of them annoucing something about the ND game. Decisions decisions decisions..

Watch what you can of the ND game and record the rest to go to your friend's game. I work every other saturday and my son and I watch those games late. Thank God for DVR! I do however listen to what I can on sirrius radio.

Yup, great way to put it.

maybe your friends won't ever know you ditched them for the ND game...but you'll know. Freinds...real friends...are few my boy...Notre Dame games are many in the whole scheme of things.
