A tad bit of info on his game tonight on espn. Seneca was 8-3 last year. They lost to Hillcrest 20-15 to start the season in 2010. Hillcrest has a good number of players coming back but were talking about small town ball here. Seneca is class 3 out of 6 in MO. Dorial should have a hell of a game if the QB can throw. Not sure how the line will look. I expect him to have a Dieter type game. Then again, they don't have any other big time players so I am sure he will be dbl and triple teamed all game! Guess we will find out @ 8.

I want to say I like our current WR haul as is (and I surely do), but sweet Jesus. Mother Mary. Dorial Green-Beckham is a man amongst boys out there tonight.

I Want.

When I watch DGB, this is what happens 100% of the time.

Whiskey Jack do you know if we are recruiting him?

He's at the top of our list. It's widely believed that whatever team signs him will be guaranteed to have winning seasons as long as he's there.

One of these days I want to see "our list."

He has narrowed it down to 6 and will cut that to 5. They are keeping it quiet because anything can happen. We will need to make a BCS champ. run and also come hard at this kid. He will equally need to go as had in the classroom. I think both ND and him understand that we may be more than he can handle in the classroom. I have just heard way to much from way to many people that ND would be the wrong fit for him academically. Sad, yes, but I just hope he excels as a STUDENT athlete wherever he ends up. We have Floyd leaving and a chance for immediate PT. Thats the best thing we can offer. We have hard academics that he may or may not be able to handle ... thats our fall. I can;t wait to see this play out. Right now I will say ARK all the way. OU having Montoyer (spelling?) will cause him to think twice. I do know first hand ... as of right now ... ARK sits pretty.

I don't want to sound repetitive, but I don't think recruits should fear Notre Dame's academics because they graduate all of their players.

It would be one thing if they graduated 70% of their players, but that simply isn't the case.

I would certainly hope people are in his ear informing him that student-athletes at Notre Dame get a ton of (legal and ethical) assistance to help them along the way. It's not Dorial against the world in the classrooms there...

Didn't people say the same about Mr. Lynch? If a kid is offered and commits I believe the program will give him all the necessary support so that he succeeds in the classroom... as long as he puts in an honest effort!!! The truth is that succeeding in undergrad is not about being brilliantly smart but rather working hard and being dedicated about succeeding in the classroom.

There are similarities, so I get what you're saying. Unfortunately Lynch was attracted to ND immediately, and he spent his own money to make it to ND in the spring. DGB just hasn't shown that type of interest, and it's only in some ND fans' dreams that he'll be Irish.

Also, some kids just don't have the tools to succeed at ND, even with all the support in the world. If they don't have the fundamentals, they'll drown. It's just too tough for some kids. BK said as much...he won't take kids if they don't have the tools to succeed in the classroom. I'm not saying DGB is like that, but there is the fear there within his camp, per dboe, who knows people in that area. It'd be great if he could fight them off and come to ND, but it looks like it's 99% against that happening.

I saw this kid play yesterday and honestly I wasn't that impressed.

He obviously dominated the team they were against but then again I'd question the level of competition they present.

I'm sure he can be a good WR in college but I don't think we "need" him and frankly I don't think he'll be a gamebreaker in college.

I was thinking the same thing, to an extent. He is in highschool, under highschool coaching, playing small town Missouri football, against many non athletic kids. When he gets to college, the coaches will be able to show him the proper steps, the proper moves to get the ball over a CB. He has the size, speed and hands that can't be taught. Right now his team can rely on what he does to win. He did have one for sure pass that bounced right off his number. I think with the training of eye hand coordination, he will get better and better. I think his junior year he is going to be an absolute beast! Fine tuning is all he needs.

He reminded me of Calvin Johnson , in high school, down here in the Atl. Bigger, faster and stronger than everyone else on the field!! CJ did play against top notch competition but I'm buying DGB!!

Do you think they would have offered and be pursuing him if they didn't think he had the tools to succeed in the classroom?

Are they still pursuing him? You never know with these things. I'm not saying they aren't, I'm seriously asking if they are b/c I've heard less and less about him from all the sites as the summer progressed. The admins director himself said that he looks at their transcripts form the previous year and will tell BK no if they don't qualify or of they don't think the kid can make it at ND. So honestly, I have no idea. They could have offered him (as they do hundreds of prospects) and then cooled on him b/c of admissions. Or they could still be pursuing him hard b/c they feel he can make it. No idea.

How hard are we pursuing him though?

I mean, everyone makes the jokes "he's at the top of our list", but may be we aren't pursuing him that hard.

Everything I just said is just speculation though. No one but the coaches know exactly how hard we are going after these kids.

his coach sure got pumped every time he got the rock. i just thought i would see a player more polished. every time he got some seperation on a route he had to push off. that being said he is good after the catch and in space. i would take him.

Do university/team rules allow players to be flat out C or C- students and still be a part of the team?

NCAA has a gpa requirement for eligibility. I can't remember what that requirement is, but I know ND has a higher standard gpa for its athletes than the NCAA to remain eligible.

I have only seen one game (the one on ENSPU) but I would pass. He has good potential based on measurables, but about as raw as you can be. If he didn't drop the ball he double caught every ball. A good press corner will shut him down until he is a upperclassmen IMO.

Yeah I guess every coach and scouting service in the country is wrong about him.

You would pass on the #1 prospect in the country?

He's 6'6 220 and runs a 4.4. He's offered by everyone with a clipboard in the NCAA.

He was double/triple teamed and caught 17 passes for 275 yards with 138 YAC and 3 TDs.

Even though we are not going to land him, you're crazy if you'd pass.
