Im hoping that for once, scUM comes into this game over confident... They are going to be coming off of a win against Western, it will be the first game under the lights in the Big House. This really is a recipe to let us come in there and take advantage of them tooting their horns too loud.

scUM D line will have absolutely no test playing against western... They will be their best defensive unit. The rest of the D is a question mark.

I think our D will do there job and keep Denard off the field. If he doesnt have the ball in his hands, he cant be dangerous. Last year in the first half, we could get him off the field, or rather, when he was off the field, we gave it right back with a few 3 and outs in a row. This wont be the case this year.

Go Irish!

The defense will be better because they get Woolfolk back and their DL is really well suited for a 4-3... at least for stopping the run. Will Campbell and Mike Martin at DT have potential to be really, really good. And their DEs are stout. I am still 100% not sold on their LBs though and think they might struggle to get pressure on the passer without bring blitzes. Overall though, it's kinda silly to think they won't be better.

PS. To your "location"... yeah VT fans in these parts are pretty funny. Not because they're total dicks a la some other fan bases... but because they think the rest of nation worships Beamer Ball like they do.

Wouldn't worry about Will, early camp hype is gone, he's working with the two's.

It was proven last season, Denard is easy to shake up...if you can just catch the little maniac i swear to the lord almighty he's part water bug he just scampers, that said he'll be made a highlight out of under the lights and im talkin bout out for 2-4 weeks kind of highlights

He was shaken by better D's and later in the season when he was more banged up, ND had the misfortune of getting him when he was still very healthy. You get that this year too, but who knows how he'll be in this new system.

If it was such an easy fix why wasn't it corrected last season? maybe im drinking the koolaide a bit soon but i believe the only way we lose this game is by divine intervention, i can't take the team who let the illini hang 60+ on them seriously I apologize if you think me rude

I have the opportunity to go to this game. I told myself I would NEVER step foot in that S H I T hole of a stadium again after what happened to me the last time I was there. I hate scUM fans and everything about them. They are unintelligent, disgusting, rude people. If you want to experience the stadium atmosphere then just go into your local walmart.

My brother is a scUM fan (one of the few respectable ones) and said he got us 2 tickets for face. I told him thank you for the nice gesture but you could not pay me enough to go back there.

"The H E L L with scUM" GO IRISH!

And plus, it will be way better watching ND wax that A$$ in the comfort of my own home.

Read on MGoBlog that their defensive line has been disappointing. Who knows until they play.

6 months ago I had few worries about this game, the closer we get to it though, my stomach just doesn't feel right.
It's funny, this rivalry seems to have absolutely no respect for the better team(on paper).

Michigan will only be on week 2 of their new system. Hard to believe that their defense will be drastically better compared to last year, although i do believe it will be better. If we jump on them early we could run away with it in the first half.

Have Denard is brittle and is always one Manti hit away from being on the sidelines all game.

Michigan fan here...got a question for you good folks. When RR came into Ann Arbor, it was his way or the high way when it came to his "brand" of football. That did not work out for him...true story!

Now why in the sam hill would you good folks think Hoke would do the same thing he just saw fail (rushing the switch to his pro style). There is no rush.
Now what the D will do is crap shoot to be honest. I don't think we will be world beaters by any stretch of the imagination but I don't think we will be as bad as last year.

<shaking my head> You did not answer the question. It sounds like you WANT to believe that Hoke will pull a Rich Rod and Make a drastic switch. This WOULD set us back quite a bit and give you folks and everyone else a better chance at winning this year. Many people look at our spring game and say wow...they really look bad, including a lot of Michigan fans, but why would you "Practice" something you are already proficient at...its a waste of valuable time...on the offensive side of the ball.

I also did note that our defense was Charles Barkley TURRIBLE! Will they improve...YES! how much...who knows?

I also watched our QB run all over your defense last year.
I watched our TURRIBLE defense give ALL of your QB's the business.

Now...do I think this year will be a close game...YES!

Hokes career record is 47 wins and 50 loses. Need I say more? He's kind of a "mini" Charlie Weis if you ask me. So as of right now, I believe you guys did EXACTLY what we did with Charlie Weis by settling for the 2nd/3rd choice of coaches. We all know you guys wanted Harbaugh 1st and Miles 2nd.

To tell ya the truth, I dont think Brady Joke......errrrrr Hoke will have much success at Michigan.

I assure you, Hoke WILL run a different style offense against ND... No, it wont be his complete pro style look, but it will be different from RR spread. He wont show us much at all in the "Wastern' game, becuase you guys should be able to beat them with your arms tied around you backs and blind folded. As a result, i fully expect to see his new pro style offense in week 2.

What i hope happens, is that he comes out trying to run his PRO offense, only for it to fail bc Denard will be forced to make tough throws on the run. And I have to admit I have much more faith and confidence in our defence containing him this year than last. And if we can't, its going to be one looooooong night, and scores in the 30s for both teams again.

Hoke wasn't our first choice, I'll admit it, but he's not CW either. CW had never coached a college game in his life, Hoke has turned around two programs and SDSU was actually becoming a decent program. I don't think Michigan will suddenly have a top 50 D, I'm hoping for top 80 but that may be dreaming, but I do think the D will improve as the season moves on as opposed to stay stagnant or digress.

But don't let me get in the way of your hate.

I am not referring to watching the ND v Mich games. I'm talking about watching any of YOUR games at all during your enitre season? I do. See, Michigan fans stake their entire season on whether or not they beat ND. Yall never mention how you got rick rolled by Wisconsin, and the defense was so bad, that only Illinois' was possibly worse, which made for a fantastic game that went into 3 OT's because neither team had defense. Michigan beat their first 5 unranked opponents and come on, bowling green? Indiana? UMASS? ND was not that great last year. Mediocre at best. But Michigan doesn't look at reality. If Michigan were as good as they "think" they are they should have pulled off wins against MSU, WI, Penn st, Iowa, and OSU...and they didn't. Denard is fast, yes, but the defense is weak, and the offense is scattered. Yall better take a hard look at ND, coming off a ****** program under Weiss, to a brand new strategy under Kelly, ND still struggled. Offense wasn't comfortable in the pocket, couldn't read the field, couldn't execute the throws, our defense won a lot of our games, not to mention we were plagued with injuries, but even after all the good things that happened to ND last year they were still mediocre at best, and Michigan fans are delusional to believe their entire season is hinged on one game with ND. When I smack talk about Michigan, I make sure I watch your entire season, yall might wanna try that too.

3 players have left UM this week. Freshmen 4 star TE Chris Barnett and 3 start OL Tony Posada and junior WR Je'Ron Stokes (former 4 star).

Don't kid yourself, ND is a distant second (perhaps third to some fans) to osu. And we weren't good last year, just better than you.

You said: Michigan fans stake their entire season on whether or not they beat ND

I hate to burst your bubble but NO..we dont. The ND game is a big game because of the ND lore. It is in the beginning of the year so it is see as a first "test" if we are on the right track...thats about it. I can say that I view ND as a "good' team even when they under preform.

You said:Michigan beat their first 5 unranked opponents and come on, bowling green? Indiana? UMASS? ND was not that great last year.

The last time I checked...they still went in the W column, did they not?

You said: if Michigan were as good as they "think" they are they should have pulled off wins against MSU, WI, Penn st, Iowa, and OSU...and they didn't.

Dude...do you realize you lost to Navy...a service academy that has hight and weight limitations...that don't recruit at all...WOW! Also didn't you guys get caught with your pants down by MSU on that last play? that was a classic!

You said: Denard is fast, yes, but the defense is weak, and the offense is scattered.

Looking back at the tape...that was a weak defense and scattered offense that beat you last year, was it not? I might be wrong on this one but Michigan football team was made up of mostly underclassman.

To be honest...I only look at ND football when we play them and also when they drop the ball and loose in epic proportions.

With all that said. Your new coach IS the real deal and will develop his players. Under CW...you guys had tons of talent, he just wasn't a good college football coach.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Posada/Stokes were pushed out to make more room for talented guys Hoke can grab this year.

Listen, Hoke might come off like an idiot the way he talks at press conferences but he can flat out recruit and, despite his career record, has proved he can turn around some pretty awful programs. Michigan will be much improved on defense this year and this should be a wild game. I could see the score being anything from 31-7 ND to 35-17 Michigan.

I agree. ND fans hating on Hoke come off the same way as the fans of other programs hating on the Irish, which we mock relentlessly. I think Hoke is a good hire for them, even if he wasn't their first choice. I like ND in this year's game, but I'm not overlooking Michigan. I can see them winning the game, too. I think Michigan will improve dramatically under Hoke, and to be honest I want them to. I think ND will continue to get better, and the rivalry is better when both teams are good.

Posada came in at 340 lbs, he ate his way out. Stokes I'm not sure, wish I had an answer for you. Barnett is really going to hurt, next year.

I hate to burst yours....BUT...yes, yall do. Maybe you personally, don't, but the other Michigan fans do, they lose to MSU and their favorite line is "AT LEAST WE BEAT ND" I also don't watch just Michigan and ND, I watch all the football I can, except for NFL. How do you figure that beating ND is Michigan being "on the right track" last year? You FAILED to beat all but 1 of the teams you played in your own conference! The only reason you beat Illinois is because their defense was just as horrible as yours. Saying you were better than ND in 2010 when you finished the regular season 7-5 and choked on your bowl game...really means nothing. NOTHING. But if you were "on the right track" last year after you beat ND, then you should have beaten the rest of your schedule, except for OSU because they own yall. And PS, I'm a chick. Not a "dude".

You said: if Michigan were as good as they "think" they are they should have pulled off wins against MSU, WI, Penn st, Iowa, and OSU...and they didn't.

Again, typical Michigan talking points. Avoiding the obvious and the subject. Then when I said Michigan beat, Bowling Green, UMASS, and Connecticut YOU came at me with the W is a W. As a division 1 school who thinks it's the best program in the NCAA the attitude should be different. Michigan also did not beat one ranked opponent all season last year. Michigan is NOT as good as they THINK they are. I am not making excuses for ND. We beat Utah which was a big game, and I was there with my son, it was his first game, but winning that ONE game that was a great win for us, but it doesn't negate the mistakes on the field in previous games. The MSU game was a classic, I can't even get mad about it, because that was a fantastic, ballsy, gutsy call and it worked. Our boys were asleep on the job. And let's get real...a 24-28 game between Michigan and ND...yes it was a W for Michigan, but it's not like you smoked us up and down the field. Both teams looked pretty bad at times, it's not like you guys came in and took us to school like Mississippi St did to yall, I bet you can still taste the chalk dust from them banging the erasers on your heads. Bottom line is, Michigan was mediocre last year. Expect the same this year.

To the UM fans here talking about ND playing service academies: Navy would have beaten you last year. Just sayin'..... and Air Force would have as well, so keeping talking about the service academies. They are intensely underrated. ND plays them because of tradition and because of the huge respect we have for them.
