Newest update is that police appear to be preparing to enter the house. Hope they do and everything is okay.
UPDATE: WSBT Reporter Chad Damp says police have brought a former coach on the scene. It is unclear what his relationship is to the suspect. It is also unknown how he will be used or if he will be used to try to end the standoff.
Surely it isn't Charlie...is it?

An apparent standoff at the home of former Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions player Corwin Brown appears to be over.
A firetruck and an ambulance pulled up at the home around 7:45 p.m. today. The house had been surrounded for hours by police.
The ambulance left about 10 minutes later, reportedly with Brown and another man. Two SWAT officers began removing their helmets and walking away.
That came after someone used a bullhorn to urge a person inside the home to “Be a Michigan Man today. Step up to your obligations.”
Property-tax records show the home in Granger is owned by Brown and his wife, Melissa.
Brown was Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator in 2007-09, until head coach Charlie Weis was fired. The 41-year-old coached defensive backs with the New England Patriots last season, but was not retained.
Granger is about 10 miles northwest of Notre Dame's campus in South Bend.
Police originally were notified of a domestic dispute at the residence just before 1 p.m., WSBT reported.
The Chicago native played for the New England Patriots (1993-96) and New York Jets (1997-98) in addition to the Lions (1999-2000). He spent last season coaching the Patriots' defensive backs but was not retained for this season.
According to his biography on Notre Dame's athletic Web site, he and Melissa are the parents of one son, Corwin Jr., and two daughters, Tayla and Jaedan.
According to WNDU, ND football operations guy Bob Chimel was sent to the house to talk to him.
... Police say the former Irish defensive coordinator and Michigan standout safety is now in fair condition at an area hospital ...
... Neighbors tell NewsCenter 16 there was tension within the family due to the fact that Brown did not have a job this season. ...
... Sources tell NewsCenter 16 that Bob Chmiel was on-scene during the standoff. Chmiel recruited Brown to Michigan and is a former Notre Dame assistant coach. Chmiel was not the person who was talking to Brown over a bullhorn towards the end of the standoff. ...
I dont know .... there is no "depression" that justifys hurting ones own family.
Not that many details yet, but a sad story. Depression over lost coaching jobs? Too many concussions, hell who knows, but thankfully everyone seems to be alive and he can get some help.
Agreed, but I have been around depression my whole life. My mother had it as a young child and I had to deal with it because it was just her and I. Things can flip on an instant for no reason. It can be scary, I could only imagine how it would be if it was a male with those thoughts.
Again I agree, nothing should ever cause someone to attack or even think about harming family. But I can see how they could think it.
I hear you....depression is a real thing, what is really scary is the % of ppl out there that have this condition and live with it.
Sure hope he gets help and gets back in the saddle. I have always liked him and I think he got the bad end of the deal when that Tenuta was appointed DC.
The bolded part I strongly agree with. I think Weis was just trying to figure out how to win, without really knowing how to win.
I often wonder if Weis would of stuck with Corwin and the 3 4 what would of happened? I think the team would of had more success. However, hind sight is 20/20.
