Since the 1st day of practice is over, and it seems wastefull to make a thread for every single day of fall practice. I thought it would be good to just throw any videos/articles/drunken ramblings into one thread. So starting with today (second day of practice) post all fall ball related stuff here.

So you made two for today? :) I kid, I kid.

I appreciate the idea since it'll make things easier.

II mentioned the possibility of Manti as a goal-line back. A couple of rushing touchdowns would certainly help his Heisman campaign.

Yeah, he might finish 4th instead of 5th. Manti has the ability to become a dominant LB. But there have been tons of dominant LBs whose names were never even mentioned in the same sentence as the Heisman. LBs just don't have the opportunity to influence the outcome of enough games, with a highlight reel play.

There is no campaign and there will be no campaign...so I'll assume you're joking.

Quick tangent relative to Heisman campaigns...I think it was Darren Rovell that tweeted recently that Northwestern was sending out 2 dumbbells to jump start Dan Persa's Heisman hopes. He posted a pic and they seriously looked like 2 pound dumbbells that women who are just starting to work out use for curls. I'll try to dig it up.

LOL, ND would spend a fortune in freight shipping costs if they were to send out dumbbells for Te'o's campaign.

Yeah, Fitzgerald was talking about that in a podcast I was listening to. He's using it as a recruiting tool as well. The way he figures, he can tell kids that if their play is worthy of it, the school will do whatever it takes to get their names out there.

Hey! Not only women use dumbbells like those!

Manti is a special player. He is good-great right now depending on how you evaluate him...

But I see the stars aligning for him in 2011...to have a monster year

1) He has the Head and Heart
He has the physical gifts, no question, but the things that will propel him are his smarts, good work ethic, and the fact that he appears to be that guy who must constantly test himself...to prove he is the best warrior on the field

2) He has Help
He has a scheme and a team with him...You can't ignore anybody on this defense, so folks won't be able to focus much on Manti. As well it is liberating mentally to have a team and a scheme you trust...that and there isn't anything new this year for him to "process"...he'll be on things a count sooner this year, which means he will be more downhill...I pitty running teams.

...unfortunately in the Heisman equation, Linebacker = Probably not.

A special year that has him as the sought after NFL commodity on the defensive side of the ball...I can certainly see that.

Has anyone heard anything about practice today?

Doubt it. This is one of the days when the press are not allowed to watch (they only get to watch the first 30 minutes of 4 practices), and there are no coaches nor players available to interview. If there's big news (like an injury) you'd probably only hear it through twitter from the players or reporters who have coaches as inside sources...

Sweet! Totally forgot about und.com's exclusive rights to the practices. Thanks bro!

Np, and can't wait to see the Receiver's video tomorrow.

PS: Is it just me or do McDaniel and GA3 look like they have super super quick acceleration? I know it was limited footage, but they look really quick.

I feel like all of our RB's could get a little bit bigger. They sure look quick though.

And they never said Rudy would step onto Notre Dame's campus...much less make the football team :)

On a serious note, using some Theo with Wood makes sense. Also, I hope the coaching staff does use Teo and/or Nix in some sort of goal-line tandem. Mixing it up certainly wouldn't hurt in those situations.

I'm saying here too guys that if this team turns it on this year this guy is a Heisman entry. This goal line deal should be taken seriously if he can do it.

If Lou were still around this would be a no-brainer. If Fitz at Northwestern is using this as a recruiting tool why wouldn't Kelly & Chuck Martin?
