i think if it's gonna be in south bend, it'd have to be for USC. that atmosphere will be absolutely electric regardless, but if ND and/or USC come in undefeated gameday from there would be absolutely crazy.

in terms of road games, stanford seems like it could be likely if both teams are in BCS bowl contention. Michigan is also a good possiblility, esp. if both teams win in wk. 1.

but this all depends on what other games are these weeks

Auburn at LSU will trump USC at ND if both of those teams are doing well in week 8. Don't rule out Wisconsin at Michigan St. either.

Exactly... I don't see them coming to South Bend... but I would not be shocked to see them go to Ann Arbor....... first night game.... Should be an exciting crowd

Agreed, especially that early in the season before ESPN starts blowing all the SEC teams.

the only way would be if both ND and USC were undefeated AND LSU & Auburn had losses. You have to remember that ESPN would be promoting a game which they couldnt make money on

I bet they go to Wisconsin v. Michigan St....Auburn in all likelihood is going to be terrible this year (with their insane schedule 6-6 would be very good) and not a draw without Newton.

I say Gameday shows up for the Michigan State game, after being at Michigan for the night game, because MSU game is a make or break game early in the season for both teams. Also have a feeling that if Stanford is in the top 10 when we play them, Gameday will show up for that game too.

Stanford (if both teams have a combined 1 loss) i could see. The problem with MSU is 1. ESPN doesnt get to show the game. 2. MSU doesnt have the national following of USC. 3. Even if both teams were 2-0 the media would likely still not be on board the ND wagon (see 2005) I would LOVE to see them at MSU (i have tix) but i highly doubt it. As i said in my previous post, the stars would have to align for them to come to ND and the best shot is USC

Any home game is improbable as they are telecast on NBC.
Away games: the only possible games I see would be Michigan or Stanford. I suspect that Standford will have 4 or 5 loses by then, however.

What about week #3 MSU @ ND? If both teams are 2-0 it'll likely be a top 10/top 15 matchup. Any other good games that week?

not if they are both 0-2, landry jones is out for the season, and FSU's entire campus is on fire

Touché.

Oklahoma has it tougher in that they need to get past Tulsa in week one but then have a bye in week 2. FSU has a chance to be 2-0 if Jimbo can find a way to get his players to tie their shoes and wear helmets against Louisiana Monroe and Charleston Southern. Natural disasters is always a possibility.

I don't think ESPN can do a GameDay at South Bend while NBC has the contract.

I think they can, they just can't televise any of the game or highlights without permission. I'm pretty sure I've seen Gameday at venues that were not televised by ABC or ESPN before. I could be wrong, though.

I went to the Georgia Tech-ND game in Atlanta some odd years ago. Gameday was there too. It was a pretty cool thing to see setup.
