There's no easy way to answer your question. It's like when Alexander the Great asked Aristotle for a quick overview of geometry. Aristotle replied: "There is no Royal Road to Mathematics". In honesty, this is in it's small way like that. But if you're really interested, you could go to the recruiting listings, take out your pad-&-pen, and plough down through them, giving your own "interest level" ratings for the array of guys. Then post something which informs the rest of us. I'd at least be interested in reading your summation. When you compare your "levels-of-interest" listing to our actual critical needs and the verbals we already have, you'll probably get great insight as to where the staff is spending its greatest efforts. All that would be valuable info, and might spark a lot of "dead season" commentary.

In recruiting there is a time to apply the full court press and there is a time to back off some. The recruitment of ISHAQ was a marathon until the 11 hour...and BOOM...Diaco did what he needed to do at the correct time . Some kids like alot of attention all the time and some like to be treated like an adult and go through the benefits of each school. IMO it is not time to panic it is time to continue and pursue these kids and apply pressure at the correct time. It’s a marathon not a sprint...if you treat it like a sprint....well....you gas early.!

saw this and thats why i posted this thread seemed like we didn't have many recruits were going after like we did ishaq

No idea what this means; it's July and the coaches aren't allowed any home visits like they had w/ Ishaq, but it's quite obvious ND is going hard after several top recruits. But you can carry on this conversation on the aforementioned thread, where there is a bunch of info...

At this point, we are looking for quality not quantity. I like what the staff is doing and where we stand with a lot of elite recruits.

i agree.. on the updated list we only have 7 high interest recruits just thought we would have a better class this yr. with the good finish we had last yr..

Dude, you got to understand that we are over 6 months away from NSD. Class Rankings at this point don't really mean anything. While we as fans will want elite commitments coming in left and right because we're bored, it doesn't really work like that. Many, if not most, elite recruits wait until a couple weeks before signing day or on signing day to commit. Last year Ishaq and Lynch didn't commit until the week before the spring semester started. We can worry about class rankings in January and February. Let's just have a good season this fall and let Kelly and his staff do their thing.

I think as soon as we come out and start winning the "Elite" recruits will come. I think we'll start hearing some new names as well, The combo of ND winning and recruits seeing that BK isn't afraid to play freshmen will bring alot more attention.

College Football Rumors - Rumor Central - NCAA - ESPN

espn rumors says were coming up short... were 15 in recruiting classes... not good enough we need at least top ten class...

Dude, it's July.

This has to be one of the first recruting seasons you've attempted to follow closely. If so, I completely understand where you're coming from.

It's way too early to be worried about NDs recruiting class.

We already have two of the top prospects committed in our biggest position of need and are high on a ton of lists.

Just because we finished strong last year does not mean 5*s are gonna jump on board right away.. We still went 8-4. Kids want to see the progress and the domination that BK and co. are promising.

Trinity,
You do have some reason to worry. Our class is definitely falling behind on the offensive side. We are in need of a quality RB and stud OL which I just do not see happening. BK and boys are going to need to pick up the pace a bit.

We also need to be looking for that stud ILB to replace Teo. It is likely he leaves after this season for the NFL.

I am hopeful we get this improved, but I will say that UM and others are beating us bad as suggested in the SBT article.

We're in great shape with five elite RB and three elite OL recruits. As others have said, it's July.

We also need to be looking for that stud ILB to replace Teo. It is likely he leaves after this season for the NFL.

We're deep at ILB: Calabrese, Fox, Moore, Utupo, & Grace; guys like Shembo, Rabasa, and Perkins could easily play inside as well. Te'o is irreplaceable, but we have plenty of quality waiting behind him.

The consensus around here is that Te'o comes back in 2012 for his degree and a title run. We'll see what happens.

I am hopeful we get this improved, but I will say that UM and others are beating us bad as suggested in the SBT article.

Michigan is not "beating us bad". Five of our 2011 recruits were rated better than any recruit from Michigan's class. We've got quality (and we're holding out for even more) whereas Michigan has quantity.

We are doing fine as far as recruiting offensive players. Four* Amara Darboh seems to be a heavy Notre Dame lean. Running back William Mahone likes Notre Dame and so does Byron Marshall. We are also in the race for Keith Marshall. As far as the O-line, its between us and Nebraska to get 5* offensive tackle Andrus Peat.

As stated by a few others, our recruiting class is far from over. In my opinion we are doing really well thus far having signed two outstanding top 5 cornerbacks, and a few other top notched guys. We are in play for several elite talent guys and I think as the season goes on we will get a few of these guys on board. My only concern is getting a couple good running backs but I know we will get what we need. When it is all said and done, I see us with another top ten class. It is kind of silly to hit panic buttons right now with NSD being so far away.

No problem man, I can see how it can get annoying to watch certain schools rack up early recruits. With ND being in Indiana we don't really have a solid pipeline like Florida, Texas, USC etc.. to wrap up kids early.

ND usually has to put in more effort just to get the kids to commit to a visit. Once they do that, we have as good a shot as anyone to land any kid.

Most kids have some interest in Notre Dame because of the lore and history. They just want to wait and see them deliver.

Trust the consensus on the board. If ND wins, this class will be top 5.
