He is announcing this morning.

He is announcing this morning.

He is visiting Missouri. I'm no rocket scientist, but I am going to say he goes to Missouri. At least it isn't Michigan.

Thought we had the inside track on Mauk. His older brother played for Coach Kelly at UC. Oh well, now the QB position isn't as crowded. GO IRISH!!!!!!!!

We really don't need another quarterback at the moment and there are too many other positions of need that we need to fill and only so many open slots. I would rather us concentrate our efforts in other areas. Wish this kid well at Missouri.

Good luck to the young man. I am sure that he will have a very good career at Mizzou.

On another note, I find it bizarre that the last few pages mirror my comments from the beginning of this process. I was crucified for my opinion on this matter back then, but now that everyone knows that he isn't coming here, everybody agrees with me?

Funny how things work out.

Agreed. While I wish him the best, I also just breathed a sigh of relief that he didn't commit to ND. QB is not a priority this haul.

I think it had more to do with the staff cooling on him and turning their focus to 2013 QBs than anything else. When the staff was pursuing Mauk hard, many posters trusted their judgement and would back any QB they were targeting that hard. When ND backed off (and Michigan as well for that matter), it was another case of trusting the staff and not being 'hurt' by the loss and moving on to 2013 kids. Just my opinion.

That's not exactly what I am trying to point out. I was crucified for comments like "Thank God", but now those type of posts are probably getting repped. When I said that we either need an elite (ie Kiel) QB or a project that could translate into another position (ie Coney, Baratti), I was told how stupid I was.

I get that the staff cooled on him, but it doesn't make it any less comical to me that the same people that demonized me are now using the same reasons I was pointing out 4 months ago as their own reasoning for accepting Mauk committing elsewhere.

Lemmings.

I'm kind of with you on this one. I wouldn't complain if we had picked up Mauk, but I would prefer to save the spot for more skill position guys.

My sentiments exactly...let's fill that scholly with a position of need.

Not getting into the whole argument again, but I believe what got you 'crucified' from other posters were the more personal attacks, not your opinion that we need a more 'elite' QB or a versitile prospect.

Good luck and a great career to Maty Mauk. [what this thread should be all about].

On a related sidenote: this could mean more pressure for Golson to redshirt. [spreading our awesome QB talent out].

Personal attacks my @ss. The comment I got crucified most for was, "This is my nightmare". So that comment should be crucified, but "Thank God" when he commits elsewhere is golden? Not to bag on Tate, I agree with him, I just find everyone's new viewpoint comical.

Go read through the Mauk vs Kiel thread again. My view on this subject has always been the same. The only thing that has changed is how the rest of you react to it.

I, for one, am actually quite disappointed with Mauk's decision for not choosing ND.

He will be great, IMHO.

Good luck to the kid.

Happily married. My wife never argues with me. She says, "Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience".

btw, i'm not getting bent out of shape. Just pointing out the obvious hypocrisy.

I'm not sure about you, but if I dig deep enough, I'll find a hypocrite staring back at me in the mirror.

Careful your standards: The lord judges you on the level you held others.

He chose a great offense.

Good luck to the kid.

Never that enamored with Mauk. I think his ceiling isn't very high, but best of luck to him.

Yup, we have way too many qbs as it is. I know it's customary to take one every year, but this s/b an exception. On to 2013 or Gunner.

^this, the only scenario i could see him NOT redshirting would be if he just blew Crist out of the water in summer camp and proved he was already the best qb at ND. otherwise, i'd like to save him to go against hendrix next spring.

That's a great fit for him, he will be a star in that conference with that offense.
Good luck to him.

That was definitely over the line, and I still stand buy that. And make no mistake...that was a personal attack. If you can't see that still, well, there's nothing really that can be done to make you see that. The timing of your comment was bad as well, considering that at the time he was strongly considering ND; those are things that you just don't do on a recruit's thread - it lacks class. It's one thing to say "I'm not high on the kid" or "I'd personally rather us pursue player X or no one at all" but to call it your worst nightmare is just wrong.

Now, I agree with you that the other comments were wrong as well, regardless of the fact that he's not signing with ND. It is very hypocritical, especially if those people didn't have your back at the time of your comments (however, it was 3 people on this thread, not 'everyone'. Most have simply wished him well). I wanted Mauk here, but the staff decided to move on so I'm good with it. We should all just wish the kid well and be done with it IMO...

perfect fit for him...early p.t is possible and a very thin depth chart. best decision he could have made.

Like I told you before, "this is my nightmare" is a quote from a movie (I Love You, Man) that I guess some people didn't get. I really don't see how it is any more offensive than "thank god". I also dont see why it matters that I said it when he was high on us, instead of when we cooled on him. Saying it only after he goes elsewhere is sour grapes. I think it takes more cojenes to make a statement when you mean it, not when its popular.

I counted 7 comments saying pretty much what I have been saying all along. I dont really care, just think that its bizarre that my "outlandish", "childish", "classless", etc comments are know totally ok because he is going to Mizzou.

I do agree that we should all wish him well. Mizzou is a really good fit for him and am sure that he will have a very good career (especially if they landed DGB).

If not ND, I'm glad he chose Mizzou (and NOT scUM)! I hope that he does well (as long as they are not playing ND in a bowl game that is).

I took the "Thank God" as more of a "Thank you it's not Michigan" because honestly, if he didn't want to come here then atleast it wasn't to Michigan. Mizzou is probably a pretty good fit for him as well.
