I understand people's feelings toward derogatory nicknames and logos and such. Personally, I think many of them are silly. Like people taking offense to the tomahawk chop. C'mon. I understand not liking names like "Redskins" and things like that, but some are just dumb.

"Fighting Irish" and the leprechaun don't represent the Irish people as a whole. For instance, I am half Irish. My father was first generation born in this country. I was at a bar recently, and this guy starts in on me about my ND gear and calling me Mick and stuff like that. I was pretty drunk so I stomped the crap out of him.

Moral of the story: I am 6'5" so I look nothing like a leprechaun!

While I like Clashmore Mike and would like to see him come back for gameday...I'm not so sure he'd be a better mascot in terms of putting him on merchandise.

Beautiful dog yes, but I think the leprechaun is better and fits in with the theme of "Fighting Irish."
