I heard that too. I just don't see Steve Yzerman letting Stamkos get away. Especially to another Eastern Conference team. IF (and that is a big "if") Tampa was willing to deal Stamkos, what would Philly have to give up?

Probably Jvr, Schenn, Coburn, 2 firsts and maybe more.

I don't see the Flyers trading for him. I think they give him an offer sheet and if he signs with them then they gladly give up the picks.

It would be tough to pry him out of Tampa. A lot of Kings fans were talking about Stamkos as a possible pick up along with others that were talking about Parise as well. Pesonally, I don't think either of those guys go anywhere.

Brad Richards will be the interesting story come July 1st. He will probably sign pretty quick as I think he already knows where he would like to go, but it will be interesting to see what teams step up.

You should see what Kings fans are saying about the Ryan Smyth trade. People are badmouthing the guy like crazy. They are all butt-hurt about they way he left and they are saying he should man up and play the last year of his contract instead of asking to be traded. Kind of sucks to see a guy go like that and be badmouthed as he leaves. I like Smyth and I think he is a class guy.

Ridiculous. It'd be one thing if he asked to go to San Jose or Anaheim or something like that, but he asked to go home and play. And not only that, but for a team that'll probably be towards the bottom of the league again.

Simon Gagne and Mike Richards...I dunno. I am very hopeful, but also very cautious.

Gagne's a nice pickup, but he's a bit overpaid. He's way to injury prone and is 1 concussion away from being done

i like the ian white & commodore signings. that'll shore up our defensive depth. now all we need is a back up goaltender and a forward that can score.

looks like there are two more transactions today...

The Red Wings have signed defensemen Logan Pyett and Garnet Exelby to one-year contracts. Both men played in the American Hockey League in 2010-11. - Photo Scott Cunningham

Kings need to get Doughty signed soon. Each day his signing drags on, makes me more and more nervous. I haven't even heard rumors about what he is asking, but I think it is going to be big money. If a guy like Wisniewski can get 6 years at 33 mil, I'm a little nervous about what Doughty might try to get.

added depth i suppose at the ahl level huh? pyett's young and promising, not sure about exelby. he's not ancient, but not a glamorous signing.

How I read these two signings are re assurance on D...I think Kenny is nervous on the Ericsson signing...Ericsson is a big gamble. If you notice last year Ericsson was inconsistant and soft at times. I don't like the Ericsson signing....cause now when Krownwell comes up for a new contract it ups the $ ALOT....Krownwell is worth that cash!

sorry to ramble.

Doughty will get signed.

This year of free agency sucked. Aside from B. Richards it was a really weak class and a bunch of mediocre players got big money thrown towards them.

It's crazy to see the type of money that got tossed around and then I look at the Flyers and their #1 center has a cap hit of $3.75M

i hear ya. i kind of see ericsson like jiri fischer from years ago before he was forced to retired because of his heart problem. jiri struggled when he first came to the wings and honestly got on my nerves quite a bit.

but after some growing pains fischer really looked to be on the upside of his career....then whamo, he passes out and goes into cardiac arrest. scary moment.

anyway, my point is, ericsson seems to be going thru some growing pains and i think holland feesl he'll work himself thru it. we shall see if it pays off....but based on holland's track record....i think ericsson will.

at least, that is my hope.

Yeah, I think he will get signed, but it will definitely come down to years, I think. The Kings probably want to lock him up long term especially since his value went down a bit after a "down" season last year. Doughty probably wants to only have the contract be a few years so he can go after really big money then. That is only my guess as to what is going on. A lot of people seem to think he wants money in the $7mil per year range and that is what is holding it up, but I really think it is the length of contract that is holding it up.

These contracts are really getting absurd. I just don't understand how these guys are getting some of the dollars like this. Like I said before, Wisnewski getting $5.5 per year? No freakin' way! I saw Wisnewski a lot when he was with the Ducks and I don't understand how he can command those dollars. Maybe I am just missing his "potential". Doughty was a Norris finalist before he was 20, so you know he is looking at those kinds of contracts and thinking his value is way beyond that.

word is that the red wings may bring ty conklin back. we'd have our much needed back up even though mcdonald's not bad (plays with our ahl affiliate griffins).

I'm just ready for ESPN and Fox to realize baseball is going on... wtf?? The NBA has been beaten by the MLS in average attendence two years running for crying out loud... yet all they talk about is two leagues that are currently not even running...

ugh.

I really, REALLY hope the NBA lockout goes to disaster status... just so sick of hearing about it the last two years.

I dont think you'll have to worry about the NBA playing for a while. I'm pretty sure they couldn't be further apart

Sorry man. I'm pretty pumped they got them both, especially Schenn

You are going to like them both. Schenn is going to be special in my opinion. He has a lot of tools and he also has a bit of a nasty streak on the ice. He dropped the gloves with Sbiza when the Kings played the Quacks in a preseason game last year and Brayden whupped him pretty good. They had some history in juniors and Schenn went after him. I like that in a young player.

Rumor has it that Simmonds and Doughty were going to be split up for the same reason they wanted to split Richards and Carter up. The stories of the parties at Wayne and Drew's house are pretty amazing. I like Wayne. Hopefully he put on a few pounds in the weight room this summer. I thought he was about 20 pounds too light. He will add quite a few bouts to his fight card playing in the East.

I am happy for you. Especially for your goaltender acquisition! Glad to see Bryzgalov out of the West. That guy always played well against the Kings.

screw david stern and the nba....it could fall off the face of the earth and i'd be satisfied. it's dirty because of stern and his goon refs.

question kpenn, how's jagr going to fit in at the flyers? should be interesting to see. good luck next season.

Umm I think on a line with Jvr and Giroux. If i had to guess their lines will look something like this

JVR-Giroux-Jagr
Hartnell-Briere-Voracek
Talbot/Another signing-Schenn-Simmonds
Sestio-Betts/Talbot-Nodl

I've also heard they may sign Drury(obviously if he's healthy) and slide him into 3rd line center and play Schenn at wing for a year. Then that would slide Talbot down to the 4th line

All in all though I like th Jagr signing. For 1 year its low risk and high reward. Get him some top line minutes and #1 powerplay time playing with a guy like Claude Giroux I can see him having a 30-30 type of year for them
