They are getting rid of the cancers on this team. Both Richards and Carter partied like it was going out of style. There were rumors they'd show up to practice hungover and ****. Cleaning house.

Ah, I see. I actually like the Carter trade for the Flyers.

And both are pretty lazy. I mean I hate Crosby, but if Richards and Carter had 1/10th of this work ethic they'd be really good. But instead they'd look like top 5 centers one night and then scrubs the next night

This is a sad, sad day in my opinion. Simmonds is seriously a heart guy and Schenn has incredible upside. I can almost guarantee Kings fans are going to look back on this day that we traded Brayden and point to it as a "What if..." kind of situation. I just don't understand what Lombardi was thinking. Simmonds? Okay, I get it. I don't like it, but I get it. Schenn? That one is a head scratcher.

Basically for the Flyers is works out like this Richards and Carter for Bryzgalov, Schenn, Simmonds, Voracek, 8th overall, 2nd round pick and a 3rd

Don't get me wrong, I understand the logic of getting a proven player for a prospect, but I just thought Schenn would be a huge impact player for the Kings.

I don't understand something, though. And keep in mind I have not followed the Flyers at all. But, if Richards was a cancer, why did he wear the "C"?

I hate posting rumors, but I've heard it was more then just going out and drinking.

Cause at the time John Stevens was head coach and babied the team so Richards was good and happy.

But when Pronger and more recently Laviolette came in the rumors of him acting up started. He hated when Pronger or Laviolette called him out. And with him being traded it pretty much validates the rumors IMO

If that is the case and since Pronger is near the end of his career woundnt you (Flyers organization) give the benifit of the doubt to the younger player, Richards in this case? No. Because Pronger is more of a leader then Richards is. If you watched the Flyers you could see a huge difference after he got hurt.

I also think Pronger is more of an impact, game-changing type of player. You can't buy that kind of presence in front of the net. Case in point: Ducks with Pronger vs. Ducks without. If the Ducks had Pronger this year, with the kind of firepower they have, they would have been a favorite for the Cup.

It wasn't the level of play. It was the way they looked. The had the best defensive core in the NHL. They looked flat, lethargic and disinterested.

I’m one of those fans that question Lombardi(to an extent), especially after not getting Kovy last year and citing as one of the big reasons for not getting Kovy was because they were not going to be able to sign their ‘young guys’. Well, fast forward a year, and Lombardi is giving up said ‘young guys’ in a trade, so they never had to worry about ‘paying the young guys’.

The Kings could have pulled the trigger on Kovy last year, and still had all the pieces in place to make this trade now. They could have the current team (Richards included) with Kovy. I said it last summer, and I still think the same, ego got in the way with the Kovy deal. Kovy acted like a spoiled superstar, but Lombardi should have made him a deal he couldn’t refuse. Instead of Kovy at LW, the kings got Ponikarovsky, Penner, Strum at LW.

I don’t think Lombardi is a bad dude, his changes he has made has made the kings a better organization. I think the Richards deal is good for Kings, but I also think the team missed the boat with Kovy.

That is a very depressing line to read.

The more I get to know this current trade, the more I like it. Especially if they can still pull the trigger on Brad Richards.

I heard that too. I just don't see Steve Yzerman letting Stamkos get away. Especially to another Eastern Conference team. IF (and that is a big "if") Tampa was willing to deal Stamkos, what would Philly have to give up?
