Supposedly the Flyers traded Richards to the Kings
Yea I just heard that on 610 but didnt here for who. Do you know? Also I reaaly dont like the Carter trade.
Braydon Schenn, Wayne Simmonds and a 2nd.
It's quite clear what's going on here though

I for one am confused.
They are getting rid of the cancers on this team. Both Richards and Carter partied like it was going out of style. There were rumors they'd show up to practice hungover and ****. Cleaning house.
Ah, I see. I actually like the Carter trade for the Flyers.

you'll love Simmonds... he's a heart and soul guy... honestly HATE the Kings having to part ways with him
Don't get me wrong, I understand the logic of getting a proven player for a prospect, but I just thought Schenn would be a huge impact player for the Kings.
On top of it all, Corey Fairy won MVP last night! UGH! My world is coming down all around me!!!

I don't understand something, though. And keep in mind I have not followed the Flyers at all. But, if Richards was a cancer, why did he wear the "C"?
I heard about the partying, but that is par for the course. Wayne Simmonds and Drew Doughty were legendary on the party scene in LA. Stories of parties at their house with certain types of "professional" ladies-a-plenty were well known.
Its rare to see the Captain get traded. Usually teams build around the C. Also, the whole Proger situation seems strange as well...Pronger is at the tail end of his career...
What is so strange about the Pronger situation?
You eluded to the "rumor" that Pronger and Richards were at odds. If that is the case and since Pronger is near the end of his career woundnt you (Flyers organization) give the benifit of the doubt to the younger player, Richards in this case? Since he will be playing for the next 10 years and Pronger maybe will play 1 to 2.?
No. Because Pronger is more of a leader then Richards is. If you watched the Flyers you could see a huge difference after he got hurt.
I also think Pronger is more of an impact, game-changing type of player. You can't buy that kind of presence in front of the net. Case in point: Ducks with Pronger vs. Ducks without. If the Ducks had Pronger this year, with the kind of firepower they have, they would have been a favorite for the Cup.
This is a sad, sad day in my opinion. Simmonds is seriously a heart guy and Schenn has incredible upside. I can almost guarantee Kings fans are going to look back on this day that we traded Brayden and point to it as a "What if..." kind of situation. I just don't understand what Lombardi was thinking. Simmonds? Okay, I get it. I don't like it, but I get it. Schenn? That one is a head scratcher.
I’m one of those fans that question Lombardi(to an extent), especially after not getting Kovy last year and citing as one of the big reasons for not getting Kovy was because they were not going to be able to sign their ‘young guys’. Well, fast forward a year, and Lombardi is giving up said ‘young guys’ in a trade, so they never had to worry about ‘paying the young guys’.
The Kings could have pulled the trigger on Kovy last year, and still had all the pieces in place to make this trade now. They could have the current team (Richards included) with Kovy. I said it last summer, and I still think the same, ego got in the way with the Kovy deal. Kovy acted like a spoiled superstar, but Lombardi should have made him a deal he couldn’t refuse. Instead of Kovy at LW, the kings got Ponikarovsky, Penner, Strum at LW.
I don’t think Lombardi is a bad dude, his changes he has made has made the kings a better organization. I think the Richards deal is good for Kings, but I also think the team missed the boat with Kovy.
And since I want to pour some more salt in the wound, never liked Richards, and will one day write an epic biography about Eric Lindros...I submit each players statistics through their first 6 seasons (which Richards has only played thus far.)
Richards:
Regular season-453 GP, 133 G, 216 A, 349 PTS, +39
Playoffs-63 GP, 16 G, 34 A, 50 PTS, -11
Lindros:
Regular season: 360 GP, 223 G, 284 A, 507 PTS, +142
Playoffs: 48 GP, 23 G, 33 A, 56 PTS, +10
There is a rumor that the Flyers are going to make a run at Stamkos. Highly doubtful it happens, but after the past week who knows
