I have both of my parents still. I cannot imagine losing either one of them. I feel terrible for the family.

This is very sad. I had classes with Andre and know he was one of the hardest working and humblest people around. The fact that he knew he wanted to go into foreign affairs (not just be a football player - which he was damn good at), that dream was dominant in his life choices. I mean, how many full scholarship athletes do ROTC and take Russian - notoriously one of the most demanding classes at ND at that time?
And overall, just the nicest guy.

TJ was fortunate to have him as a father, and I'm sure he realizes that. It is too bad it had to end so early.

Prayers to him and his family on their loss.

God bless Andre, and God bless his family.

Losing someone so close will affect you for the rest of your life. But, it should be for the better.

TJ, always remember your father and your love for one another, remember to stay close with your family, remember everything he taught you, and always remember that he will be guiding you still for the rest of your life.

TJ, I saw a few comments you posted, and take it from me, I lost my father suddenly and unexpectedly. With my father, it was thirty-six hours from his surgery to when he was pronounced. There is one thing I can tell you with certainty. No one can take him away from you. In fact, the best of him has become part of you. You may not see it in this now, but when the shock passes, and you have a chance to quiet the anguish, you will find it inside of you. It is okay to take time; it took me quite a bit of time to get over my father’s death, and he and I were quite a bit older than you and your father. And finally, the reason I can tell you this with confidence; with the kind of man your father is, we are both better men because of our fathers.

A year ago, after your first spring game, you sat in the Burger King at the LaFortune Student Center. My family sat across from you. You sat there in what I assume was you father's varsity jacket. I hope things come together for you, and that you are the second All-American to wear that jacket. At that time, I could tell that you had the kind of character that would make your parents proud. So it was evident to me. I wish you the best life has to offer, and I will pray for you and your family. Beir bua agus beannacht, BT.
