Some Michigan fan tweeted Peat saying:
"Greg Developed Ray Lewis... Just Think, I bet With your work ethic & Greg's tutiledge you could be the next NFL Superstar!"

I did not know Mattison made Ray Lewis what he is, now I am really impressed.

This is where a scUM education gets you-- a grown-a$$ man, sending a tweet full with random capitalization and misspellings to a high school kid.

Do defensive coordinators usually spend a lot of time working with offense lineman? I'm failing to see how Mattison would impact Peat at all.

What is the twitter handle of the person that tweeted that? I'd to ask him a question.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

What a funny joke... Greg Mattison has been riding coattails now for decades. He did NOTHING to develop Ray Lewis, Ed Reed or anyone else on that defense. They were all developed LONG before he ever put on the black and purple.

My question is, what does Mattison have to do with coaching an Offensive Tackle? That seems to be irrelevant.

Let's not get too beat-up over what some un-informed fan tweeted. If we stooped to that level we'd all spend 24 hours a day ripping on half of the clowns out there. Now, any info on his visit to ND?

A question

A question

How do the powers that be (NCAA) look on fans twittering recruits?

Seems like it could get hairy. I would assume a kid would turn off
all the garbage he gets from stupid fans anyhow.

Ugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggh

I HATE YOU WEATHER GODS! Why couldn't it have rained yesterday instead.....

If rain is what keeps a recruit from coming to ND, then I don't want such a soft player anyway...there are things way more important than weather when it comes to deciding on a school

Definitely agree, but with how close some of these recruiting battles are and with how many elite schools are vying for their services, a first impression will be a big factor in a kid's mind. He might look back on his Notre Dame visit as underwhelming when compared to the whole campus being available on some of his other visits. Unfortunately for us, not every big time prospect is as sold on South Bend as Tee and Darby were from the very beginning.

No offense (which means I'm going to say something offensive...), but I hate dumb *** comments like that.

When the goal is to make a good impression good weather > bad weather. It has nothing to do with being "soft" and everything to do with being able to get out, walk around campus, etc. Plus the sun, Vitamin D, etc. has been proven by numerous scientific studies to make people happier than gloom and doom.

The idea that a kid enjoying his visit to ND less because it T-Stormed would indicate he is "soft" or not fit for ND is ridiculous. When you're trying to get a feel for a place weather matters. A lot.

He's tweeting pics from around campus, so maybe the rain has stopped for a bit. Dome, Grotto, and a couple from inside Basilica.

You never know, a kid from the deserts of Arizona might be afraid of playing in the rain. He might think this happens when it rains during football games:

a 47-50 career record and 1-2 bowl record doesnt scream winner to me, just sayin...

I see your point, but it took him a couple years to get Ball State from crappy to good, and he can point out his last 3 years. 12-1 at Ball State, then 9-4 at SDSU a couple years later.

You are correct. Comparing winning percentages is often dumb because some guys had to build programs from nothing. His coaching job at Ball State was very good, and at SDSU was marvelous. He can turn programs around from nothing, he has proven that. Whether the schedule at Michigan is conducive for a patient rebuilding project is another story. The Big Ten wasn't kind to Rodriquez's trying to change gears and it sure as hell won't be nice to Hoke. I'm hoping they go through three or four coaching tenures before they get back to elite status, just like Notre Dame.

I went back 4 pages and didn't see any of this...so without re-reading this entire forum, does anyone have any insight on if/how many more visits he'll make after ND? Has there been any chatter on when he intends to announce or not yet...?!

The point is that if the sun shining on the dome and he can take a walk around the lakes that is better than a torrential downpour where he is couped up in a building. It's not about "luring" and it's not about being "soft" it's about making the best first impression possible on a recruit who had to travel half way across the country and isn't a lean.

On personal experience, when I was visiting college one of the biggest 'turn off' visits I had was to Cornell. Why? Because it was raining/drizzling for the entire 3 day visit and people told me flat out that it was "like this" in Ithaca all the time. I contrasted that with the sun shining days at Notre Dame's camp where the campus was BEAUTIFUL and Cornell wasn't even in the running anymore.

A kid can get "OHH UMMM FOOTBALL" anywhere. USC, Arizona State, Stanford, you name it these days. The last thing you want is a black mark for weather giving us another hurdle (even if minor) to convince a kid that South Bend is the place for him versus a place closer to home.

I'm glad he's enjoying his visit. No, bad weather is not the end of the world. But it also shouldn't be marginalized as a non-factor.

Still a long time to go. Don't know if he set a schedule or anything but I'm 99% sure he's not planning on announcing for awhile and plans on taking officials.

If weather was that much of a factor, we would never get recruits from the South....Hate to break it to you, but South is not a vacation spot. (unless vacation is a trip to a game)

I myself went on rainy recruiting visits, as well as administered rainy recruiting visits. I would have a hard time justifying to MY parents that I didnt consider a school because it drizzled while I was on campus.
