does anybody know where we stand with him becaus i just found this article on ESPN

Four-star DE LaTroy Lewis of Ohio received his second offer from Ohio State, way back last fall, but the Buckeyes' recent turmoil has led to his downgrading The OSU significantly. "I haven't quite crossed them off my list," Lewis told Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts.com, adding that he might take another visit to Columbus.

For now, though, Lewis says that Notre Dame, Tennessee and USC are his favorites, which means that the Vols are probably his front-runner given that he does not yet have offers from the Irish or the Trojans. Lewis said he is not in any rush to announce -- he is waiting on those offers -- but Kurelic predicts that Lewis will decide before season's end.

We'll see if Notre Dame and USC step up with offers or not.

And we haven't offered this guy yet because...? Ohio is loaded w/ front seven prospects this year. We need to lock down this state while OSU is struggling.

OLB or DE? 4.8 seems too slow for OLB, if that's the case.

More from ESPN

Lewis is a defensive end with some good raw tools to develop. He is a kid with good size and looks to have a nice reach and frame that could support more good bulk with time in a college weight program. You would like to see a little more consistency, but this is a kid who can quickly get off the ball. He displays nice first-step quickness and can with some further development be a kid that can cause some problems off the edge as a pass rusher. He can get up-field and challenge blockers with a speed rush. He will take a tight path and flashes solid body lean to turn the corner. He will try and get to the shoulder and throw a rip as he bends back in, but he really needs to commit to it and rip up to the sky and finish and not just throw it. He also needs to expand his pass rush arsenal. He has that burst and if tackles open up too quickly he can beat them to the corner, but beyond that he can seem to get stalled if he faces an obstacle in front of him and needs to be more active with his weapons and be prepared with counters. He is a kid with a good burst and solid straight-line speed, but can flash some rigidness when trying to quickly re-direct. He can be tough against the run. He will come out of his stance low and generate power from his lower body and can get under blocker's pads and hold his ground. He does need to use his hands and reach better to protect himself and create separation. Lewis is a kid that can get off the ball. He displays flashes of being able to create pressure as a pass rusher and also be tough versus the run, but needs to keep developing his game so he maximizes the tools he has.

I haven't seen anything about ND talking to him about what position he would play. So until further info..he is a DE

Yes....yes you did Beau.

Quote by Lewis on Tressel:

Lewis, Hoban junior defensive end, on the resignation:

''I was like wow. I expected him to have some consequences, but I didn't think he'd resign. They're rules set by the NCAA and to be on any team you have to follow the rules. Tressel may not have caused the problem, but he covered it up. A rule is a rule.''

Lewis on how the resignation affects his decision:

''My decision won't be based on who I'm playing for as far as the coach. I'm not really into following coaches. It will be based on the people around the program, the players, the university itself.''

Huskeronline.com via ESPN reports LaTroy states he has an ND offer, and has ND and Tennessee as his top 2. Nebraska is also in it, as his teammate Greg McMullen just verbally committed there.

Probably projects at OLB in Diaco's 3-4; most WDEs do.

Only concern from his tangibles is the 4.8 40, but who knows if that's accurate.

Wait...we are in his top two and he doesnt have an offer? Is this a academic situation where he is still working on the requirements to get accepted (eg. Daniels)?

BGI/247 lists him with an offer. Scout and Rivals do not. He's listed with a 3.1 GPA/ 22 ACT. The 22 is solid. The 3.1 looks good but there could be a core course issue or just the number of offers out there. Then again it's early July. Lots of time. I don't know.

I do find a top 2 of ND and UTN curious. I can see a kid that live in TN ending up with those two but he lives in OH and has an offer from OSU. The Tressel/NCAA might have him shying from there but he's listed as a OSU camper. Perhaps his team camped there.

He also has Big 10 offers from ILL, IOW, and UM. He also has an offer from Vandy which tradtionally is one of the tougher schools for admissions. A few years ago when the NCAA only required 12 core courses while ND required 16, Vandy required 16 as well. Today the NCAA requires 16.

Side note, but while 24/7 lists him with an offer, in Blue and Gold's (under the 24/7 umbrella) article on his top 2, they identify him as an 'unoffered linebacker'.
