Fencing - no shit.... more NCAA's in last 25 years than in any other sport. 2 time Olympic gold medalist Sabre (Zagunis - she also has several world championships) and most recently a Junior World Champion Epee (women's). They are 1 - 2 or 3 every year in NCAA's.
Mike started a great program. Yves was a great coach and as goofy as Janusz is or seems to be (he's a very funny guy) - I love the guy... He's a great sabre coach.

I agree. I go to about three or four games a year. The ND, Michigan game is the most exciting every year because they are always so close together.

The bangle mission bouts has anyone ever been it f*****g hilarious not saying its the most succsessfull but in a way it is it raises money for students to take care of the sick and starving and its also funny to watch ND students beat the shit out each other

61-8-4 if my math (counting the record on UND.com) is correct, is the record of the women's soccer teams' last 73 games.
Now I don't know too much about fencing to be honest, and I'm not sure how wins/losses/ties, etc. works. But the women's soccer team has been plain nasty the past 2 years. Kerri Hanks has to be one of the finest athletes in his/her sport that Notre Dame has produced in the last 20 years. Just look at the records she holds, and how successful the teams she has played on have been. No, ND soccer does not have as many national titles as fencing, but I think (currently) ND's best sport is women's soccer.

Trust me... one of my favorite (I have 2) T-shirts are the gray Notre Dame Athletics Fencing shirts. In the front of the bookstore that have the gray... Basketball, Golf, Swimming, etc......
My son's first coach was Yves, then it was Janusz.. Yves was and Janusz now is the head coach at ND... both coaches assisted in off hours at the Indiana Fencing Academy in downtown Mishawaka... When my son started Janusz was our head coach until Yves retired from ND and the Janusz took over the HC position at ND... Zoltan was then the head of IFA and assisted at ND he coached some Foil National Champions ... a lot of Div. 1 kids came out of there... some National Champions and quite a few all americans. My kid went to some nationals (age group) - got tooled by the Champion - got a top 20% ranking, took 2nd in midwest high school tourney as a freshman, got into girls and dumb shit stuff at 16 and lost interest.
ND is a fencing powerhouse... and just think how dignified it is to walk around campus with a ND Fencing shirt - I love it.

historically, football obviously. now i would say soccer for both men and women is elite. hockey is elite. what about the boxing club that we have, i have heard is by far the best. maybe an nd student can give some insight here?
In recent years, women's soccer has been the most dominant. Fencing has been very solid too, but I would give a slight edge to soccer. They made 4 straight final fours and 5 of the last 6. This year's senior class lost 1 home game in 4 years.
As far as boxing, they don't compete against other schools so it's hard to compare. For example, how would they do against Navy or Army? It is a very neat program though. Also, some may not know, but there is also a women's boxing club which holds its bouts in the fall while the men fight in the spring.
