Noah had a recent skype chat with Joe Pa, in which Joe Pa tried to alleviate concerns over Joe Pa's inevitable retirement. In the chat, Joe told Noah and his family that he planned to stay in Happy Valley for 5 or 6 more years. To clarify, that would take him to his 90th birthday. Insanity.

5 or 6 more years? Thats ridiculous. He doesn't really coach anymore so I guess it doesn't really matter. He's just another mascot.

Joe Pa can use Skype?!!!!

I'm not as much of a Joe Pa hater as some of you, because my grandfather played against him college and they became friends, and I was brought up being told how great the man is. But, I will say that trying to visualize the guy setting up skype and having a conversation plays out in my head like a hall-of-fame caliber SNL skit.

It was probably a Paterno cut out. His son Jay did the talking while Joepa took a nap in his Lazy Boy (the same one he got credited with a win in)

Just imagine Brian Kelly still being the head coach at Notre Dame in 2051.

I wonder is the PSU staff is at least transparent with recruits about the fact that JoPa is nothing more than a figurehead these days...

If they're putting JoePa in front of a computer to tell a star recruit that he'll still be there for 5-6 years, I'd say the answer is no.

That's just wrong. Assuming that's the case, how on earth does word not get out to these kids what the deal really is? I mean, I know that ND generally does not practice or preach negative recruiting against another school, but wouldn't in genuinely be in the best interest of these kids to know this?

I think the more interesting question is whether they are honest with Joe about it. Do you think he knows he isn't really the coach? I'm not convinced he does.

Along the same lines, how do star recruits and their parents remain ignorant year after year about oversigning in the SEC? Why do recruits consistently overestimate their chances of finding success in the NFL and underestimate the value of a college degree?

Such is the tragedy of recruiting.

We could have a bunch of titles if that were the case.

Brian Kelly might not even be the head coach in 2021, even with a championship under his belt.

This guy would be a great catch! Hopefully BK and staff can pull off the signing! His offer list is unbelievable....
