Floyd as 2nd team??? WTF? Even if he doesn't play this year he still should be on everyones 1st team. Head scratcher there.

Justin Blackmon, Alshon Jeffery, Ryan Broyles. Three reasons.

I agree with Riddickulous
IMO Blackmon is the best WR in the nation! I also think Jeffrey's is slightly better than Floyd.

Also, Steele doesn't even know if Floyd will play this season. He can't have a guy 1st team who won't even be eligible to play.

Landry Jones over Andrew Luck was puzzling at first, but I understand why Steele did it. Jones has more weapons around him, a more favorable schedule, and the track record for guys coming back and having a big year isn't exactly stellar.

I will agree with Blackmon as the best. Jeffrey's as the second. And Floyd as the third. That is until he blows by Jeffrey's thru the season and probably Blackmon too. Now Teo not being first team bugs me more. Wtf

Ruffer on 4th team is an outrage. I also don't understand why that one LB from BC is so hyped up. Is it because he's the only player on that defense that can make a tackle?

Floyd as 2nd team feels right to me.

Te'o definitely belongs on the 1st team if Burfict is there; yah, the guy's an athletic freak, but he has no discipline. His late hit penalties really hurt ASU in 2010.

Ruffer on 4th team is a real head-scratcher. 2010's Lou Groza Award finalists were Hrappman, Bailey, and Ruffer, with Bailey winning. Since Bailey graduated, it stands to reason that Ruffer should at least be 2nd team, no?

'Bama has 3 first team, 2 second team, and 2 third team. Jeebus.

Had ASU season tickets the last few years, and although Burfict is a bonehead at the worst possible moment, he really is the cog of their whole defense. Without him, they aren't ranked in the pre-season IMO.

I agree. I take nothing away from his skill, athleticism, or importance to the team.

I just have a problem with Te'o taking a back seat to him when Burfict has a huge glaring discipline problem which negatively impacts his team's on-field performance. Te'o has no such issues.

True. T'eo is light years ahead of Burfict from a maturity standpoint, and that goes a long way in the huddle. Manti is a calm leader, Burfict is a psychopathic screamer. It's really a Mike Singletary vs Ray Lewis type debate, both are outstanding, and both serve important purposes depending on team personnel.

A healthy Floyd is better than all of those 3 guys. But thats just my opinion.

Maybe, but when have we ever seen a healthy Floyd? Hes missed games in all three seasons at ND. Add that to the fact that the 3 guys on the 1st team had 1500 plus yard seasons last year. I have to agree with Steele on this one.

How far would Floyd have eclipsed the school career receiving TD record if he was perfectly healthy every single game of his career?

That'd be ridiculous.

I know what you are saying, but apparently the kid is the real deal. All the listings for the top 25 NFL prospects for 2012 have him listed as the #1 OLB and bunched right in the thick of best LB with Teo Burfict.

I believe he also led the nation in tackles the past year or two.

Personally I think Steele should leave Burfict, Lewis, BC kid and take out the TCU kid and place Teo in there.

Now this is one that just can't be argued. Ruffer imo was the best kicker in the nation last year, and he should be returning as the best kicker in the nation this year. Unless Steele just expects us to never kick field goals because no one will keep us out of the endzone.

Ruffer was one of three Lou Groza finalists in 2011. The winner graduated. Thus, shouldn't there be a strong presumption that Ruffer is at least one of the top two kickers in the nation now?

It's stuff like this that makes me question the method behind such preseason lists.

I'm confused. Are you arguing me by agreeing with me? lol

Maybe I confused some people. When I said it can't be argued, I meant that him being put at 4th team All-American and that being an outrage couldn't be argued.

Like I said, he was in my opinion the best kicker in the nation last year and should be this year too.

I was agreeing, just with a little more specificity. Sorry for the confusion.

Tackles:
Keuchly: 183
Manti: 129

Tackles for Loss:
Keuchly: 10.5
Manti: 8.5

Interceptions:
Keuchly: 3
Manti: 0

Sacks:
Keuchly: 1.5
Manti: 1

Forced Fumbles:
Keuchly: 2
Manti: 1

Passes Broken Up:
Keuchly: 3
Manti: 3

The 2009 stats are even more lopsided for Keuchly. Don't get me wrong, Manti is an absolute beast. But Keuchly has undoubtedly been better. From Ohio too, which means he escaped both CW and BK.

Love Manti, but Keuchly may be the best football player in the nation.

I love you OMM... but I respectfully disagree. I won't get into a battle on stats... some people are stat guys, some are not... it's up to you how much stock you put in them.

Both Manti and Burfict have much more physical ability and talent than Keuchly. Not saying Keuchly isn't stud (because he is) but if you made me choose any two ILBs for our defense Keuchly would be on the outside looking in. Just personal opinion.

I agree. BC's defensive scheme is meant to funnel tackles to the LBs specifically the MLB.

I heard that one during an interview with the head coach.
