I could see that being the most watched bowl game outside of the championship game. if it happens like that!

I like the idea of going to the Fiest Bowl this year. It will prepare us for playing on the big stage in 2012. God Willing. If we find our offesive rhythem early this season, I think our record will be 11-1 going into the game though. The offense will have confidence and we should win alot of games by alot of points. Unfortunately we will probably drop a game to either USC or Stanford.

On a side note...

Why does this guy think scUM is going to win 8 games? Not so sure they will even win 6. I'll be suprised if they win 7. They have to travel to Northwestern, Illionis, MSU, and Iowa. They will probably choke against Illionis and Northwestern and I highly doubt they can beat Iowa or MSU this year. Add in a loss to the IRISH and they already have 5 highly potential losses.

I don't think 8 wins is that absurd to think about with Michigan, but that doesn't mean they are going to be that good.

They miss both Wisconsin (many people's BIG champion) and Penn State in conference.

Northwestern, Michigan State, Iowa, and Illinois certainly isn't the most daunting road schedule for a BCS team.

I wouldn't bet on 8 wins myself, but they're probably due for a win over Sparty and if they can beat SDSU at home they should come close. Wins against Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, SDSU, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, and Illinois. And maybe they upset Michigan State or Iowa (neither of which are going to be top 20 teams IMO this year). I just don't think the Big Ten is that intimidating this year.

At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if they won only 4 games. :)

I just don't see them having any chance at beating MSU or Iowa. Both are road games... I dont know anything about SDSU. Was last year a fluke? Maybe. Are they going to be as good this year? Maybe. They will choke and loose to Illionois or Northwestern. I can see them losing both to be honest. Denard can only win so many games for them. We saw that happen last year. And I dont see their Defense being that much better than last year. Sure some areas will have imporvements. Their secondary cant get any worse, only room to get better.

Sry didnt finish my thought.

I'll be nice and give them 7 wins this year. Maybe they find another win somewhere.

not running the spread this year will also limit the number of games that Denard can win for them...he looked absolutely horrible in the spring and seemed to take a step backward as a passer compared to last year where he showed improvement. Different scheme that does not fit him very well.

Agreed...they are anywhere from 4-8 wins and wouldn't be surprised with any number in that range.

Let's not forget that Hoke has been working on his plays with the scUM offense but is not abandoning the spread. They know the spread already and Hoke knows what DR can do in that offense. Trust me, if they are down by 2 with the final drive .... they will pull out the spread and let DR run his ballz off.

It's nice to read a positive anything about ND and not have the comments section loaded with "ND sucks, the golden dome is tarnished, ect, ect," Things are really on the up and up.

I really don't think its fair to judge a kid on a spring performance when they completely changed the offense and he only had 15 practices to learn it. They will be much better than they were in their spring game. I'm not saying that they will be good, but they will certianly have a better handle of the new offense by then.

Also, 4-8 games? You are going on quite the limb there. Should have read, "I think scUM may or may not win or lose some of their games this year." I kid, I kid...

It will be the TCU show going forward. Lville (or whoever wins the Big East) should enjoy the year and the ride, as it might be the last for a while.

Denard is simply a spread QB, the reasoning he was recruited as an Athlete. Teams that want to run pro style offenses recruit QB's not guys who run around behind center...i really don't see him improving as a QB very much and wouldn't surprise me to see Devin Gardner in there winning the job over before the year is over.

Did not see my alma mater, Sam Houston State University. Proving that these early prediction articles are full of $hit!

That thought has crossed my mind a few times also. I feel like the scUM fan base worships Denard though. I feel like it is going to take an awful lot before Denard gets his starting job taken away. He may get less snaps, but its going to take something major before he losses the starting job.

I was actually thinking a couple of weeks ago what would happen if we played Texas in a BCS bowl.

a few losses would qualify as something major i would think...that's possible.

New coaches can't be fired after a year. They pretty much have carte blanche for 3 years, as long as there is some improvement.

I would love to see a Notre Dame - Texas game in the BCS at some point. The draw would be huge and just about anyone who enjoys college football would tune in to watch it. At this point though, it is too early and anything could happen. Would be an awesome game though if it were to happen at some point.
