Everyone is saying that Ohio is stacked this year with talent. With the trouble in Columbus, who does ND gain an edge on? Ifeadi Odenigbo has OSU and ND as two of his top choices. Will the allegations and possible termination of Tressel tip the hat in NDs favor? Just wanted to get some discussion going on this.

Stud RB Bri'onte Dunn just decommited from OSU with concerns over the Tressel situation. We offered, so it is a near certainty we will be recruiting him hard. 5 star, #4 RB on Scout.

FYI: Blue-chip RB Bri'onte Dunn de-committed from OSU with concerns over Tressel situation, ND offered last summer so could be a factor

I really like this. Dunn is a great Spread Running Back.

Really? I always thought he was more of a power back and usually when I think about spread running backs it's people like Lamichael James with breakaway speed that stick out.

I would love to poach Ohio, but the reality is that we are on the outside looking in. Our roster currently only has a handful of Ohio players on it.

Coach Kelly and the staff really seem to be making it a priority to invade Ohio for talent...with a solid year I can see us sneaking into Ohio and maybe stealing a couple guys.

I think we'll be on the outside looking in around Ohio as long as Tressel is around. Ohio has high schools with Texas-like allegiances to O$U. Good players in Ohio get recruited early and often by Tressel and his staff; Mack Brown does the same.

Texas had an awful year by their standards and I guarantee they'll still lock down 90% of the top talent in the state by signing day (they basically have those numbers now). 2 years ago when Urban Meyer took a leave of absence for health reason he was still able to throw together one of the best recruiting classes of his career. I have no specific examples, but Pete Carroll was the same way.

Players come to play for guys like Brown and Meyer. Tressel is no different. As long as he's at O$U, ND will always have a tough road in Ohio. I think we still have a shot at many of the top prospects in Ohio, but we'll probably only land one or two at best IMO.

absolutuely...we need to really have a lot of success to get more of these guys thinking ND, but in Ohio your always going to have the guys who commit to Ohio St regardless of who's coaching them or how much trouble they're having on or off the field.

Kelly has already established personal connections at the OH high schools from his days at Cinn..of course he got tressels scraps then, but now, he is the HFC at ND...if tressel goes watch out...theres always going to be kids who are OSU from the womb but ND will in my opinion fill a tressel void more than anyone for a lot of top guys...only wild card here is who the new OSU coach is--if its Meyer--we may have been better off with tressel still there-especially for offensive UM spread offense recruits who are very similar to who we target.

I think it's still a bit early to determine what kind of impact the OSU mess will have on recruiting. If they get the expected U$C type punishment, I don't expect to see recruiting slip at all, as it didn't at $C. If Tressel gets the axe or resigns, then yes, we have an entirely different story.
