Women's Basketball?
Men's Lacross?
Hockey?

If we bring in 5 National titles that would be insane. How often does a school bring in 3+ in a year?

Finally the Lady Irish are getting some credit here, they have been great all year.

For the record womens basketball really isn't painfull to watch or bad. They play very fundamentally sound, when a play is called they run it. No need to throw up a 3 pointer when you can run a great play straight to the basket.

National Championship game here they come. Go Irish!!!!

Interesting reading the complaints about layups when UConn's coach credited ND for "taking it to the paint". Something the ND men had some trouble doing most of the season.

"They drove the ball into the lane and made up make mistakes defensively."

ND was only the second team in over 250 games to shoot 50% from the floor. ND shot 50% from the arc but shot 52% inside.

Don't know. But from your list ND can't do it without the Ladies. They haven't won one yet without the women.

Their is a reason for that. Which is a real reason I love to watch womens basketball, in particular the Lady Irish. Even though most top teams have that top player, they still play very team oriented. Great season, let's hope it ends in another National Championship, although I have school on Tuesday from 6-8:20 CT, so I have barely no time to make it back home to see the beginning of the game.

What a great game for the for the Lady Irish. Mildly embarassed that I turned it off 2 minutes in to watch "The Fighter" on DVD.

Enjoyed the movie, thrilled to see the score after the flick. I'll be working Tuesday, so will have a bit of an excuse to miss it Tuesday. Hope they bring it home. Like our chances.

I don't really care about women's basketball, but I do like it when the UConn women lose. So thanks, Irish ladies, for taking care of that. And congrats to those of you that follow this stuff.

I never watched much, but I have watched the last 3 games.

These ladies play hard and are always hustling. I prefer it to men's basketball anyday.

Skylar is cute but I am a big fan of Natalie Achonwa and Brittany Mallory.

I work 3rd and had to run over to my mom's house at lunch to watch the finish of this game! Thought Maya Moore was gonna bring them back for a minute then the girls stepped it up!

Great job by Natalie Novosel. She was very clutch in this game!

Bring home that trophy ladies!!!

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade or hate for no reason, but this is an absurd statement. Why not just say "I prefer not-good things over good things any day"? I'm certainly not anti- woman's basketball. I'm happy for the girls that they get a chance to play, but I don't find it entertaining. It is a vastly inferior product compared to real basketball. In fact, one of my biggest complaints with ESPN is that they keep force-feeding its viewers women's basketball when their viewers have clearly and repeatedly rejected it by not watching.

That's actually not quite accurate. One of the big things is that ESPN always loses the bidding war for the men's rights and they need content to focus on throughout this stretch of time. It's also why you see a bunch of softball, lacrosse, etc. on ESPN this time of year... it's not because it pulls huge ratings it's because it's the only thing they can put on TV that will pull viewers period.

I wonder if Lynch and gang are less disappointed by getting their asses kicked by the women's team in a pick-up game.

You are probably someone one who likes to see DUNKS and home runs in the top ten everyday.

Dunks were impressive when people like Spud Webb did it. But when a guy that can touch the net without jumping does it, it is very boring. Give me 10 foot jumpers and lane layups and good passing anyday. In other words, real basketball.

Just my opinion obviously, but I would rather watch women's college basketball than men's college. I get very bored watching the guys play. I did not get that way watching the girls.

I did some informal assisting to the Women's Basketball program for five years at WMU. [doing practice statistics and some stats on upcoming opponents; plus I wrote a how-to-improve-foul-shooting-manual]. The girls were "beautiful" in many ways.

They're VERY serious about their sport [it was a joy to see girls taking things so seriously that they never were preening for the boys during any of it --- after practice or game, yeh, that's when they turned on their "girl"]. And a girl athlete is about the most full-of-life person that you'll ever be around.

On the court, yes, they can't jump with rare exceptions. But I never saw a male ball-handler as clever as our point guard, Maria Jilian, during her four years on the team. Our "Bomber", Casey Rost, could shoot your lights out no matter who you were. And our center-forward [ Lori Crisman] was standing at center court in the NIT quarterfinals, hands-on-hips after 40 straight minutes of play in a "you WILL NOT WIN " stance that would have made anybody say "wow, baby, YOU are an athlete!".

Guys who can't stomach Women's BBall are those who are only in it for gross thrills. Bad play is bad play. Good play is good play. Maria, Casey, and Lori were good; so, obviously are our wonderful and tough ND ladies.

Nice post. It is about time women get the glory too.
Their work ethic puts most male athletes to shame.
