Finally the Lady Irish are getting some credit here, they have been great all year.
For the record womens basketball really isn't painfull to watch or bad. They play very fundamentally sound, when a play is called they run it. No need to throw up a 3 pointer when you can run a great play straight to the basket.
National Championship game here they come. Go Irish!!!!
Women's Soccer
Fencing
Women's Basketball?
Men's Lacross?
Hockey?
If we bring in 5 National titles that would be insane. How often does a school bring in 3+ in a year?
Interesting reading the complaints about layups when UConn's coach credited ND for "taking it to the paint". Something the ND men had some trouble doing most of the season.
"They drove the ball into the lane and made up make mistakes defensively."
ND was only the second team in over 250 games to shot 50% from the floor. ND shot 50% from the arc but shot 52% inside.
I never watched much, but I have watched the last 3 games.
These ladies play hard and are always hustling. I prefer it to men's basketball anyday.
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade or hate for no reason, but this is an absurd statement. Why not just say "I prefer not-good things over good things any day"? I'm certainly not anti- woman's basketball. I'm happy for the girls that they get a chance to play, but I don't find it entertaining. It is a vastly inferior product compared to real basketball. In fact, one of my biggest complaints with ESPN is that they keep force-feeding its viewers women's basketball when their viewers have clearly and repeatedly rejected it by not watching.

I did some informal assisting to the Women's Basketball program for five years at WMU. [doing practice statistics and some stats on upcoming opponents; plus I wrote a how-to-improve-foul-shooting-manual]. The girls were "beautiful" in many ways.
They're VERY serious about their sport [it was a joy to see girls taking things so seriously that they never were preening for the boys during any of it --- after practice or game, yeh, that's when they turned on their "girl"]. And a girl athlete is about the most full-of-life person that you'll ever be around.
On the court, yes, they can't jump with rare exceptions. But I never saw a male ball-handler as clever as our point guard, Maria Jilian, during her four years on the team. Our "Bomber", Casey Rost, could shoot your lights out no matter who you were. And our center-forward [ Lori Crisman] was standing at center court in the NIT quarterfinals, hands-on-hips after 40 straight minutes of play in a "you WILL NOT WIN " stance that would have made anybody say "wow, baby, YOU are an athlete!".
Guys who can't stomach Women's BBall are those who are only in it for gross thrills. Bad play is bad play. Good play is good play. Maria, Casey, and Lori were good; so, obviously are our wonderful and tough ND ladies.
