As an aside - the Red Wings aren't a good matchup for anyone in the playoffs. Wow they dominated the Bruins last night.

Eh it's 1 game. Especially after an emotional game vs Montreal I wouldn't put to much stock into it

The Bruins beat them last year - but the Wings are a puck control team - it's unreal how well they play their game. It's just mesmerizing and you kind of get lost in all the little plays they make.

Tomorrow at 1230 on NBC - the rematch - hopefully they dig deep tomorrow - don't want to lose any ground to Les Habitants.

Yeah espn does a **** job most of the time.

Yeah it was all from the last time they played. It was awesome. Penguins get blown out and tons of fights :)

That was a complete joke. Come on, you know it. I am all for fighting in the game, but that wasnt fighting, that was just cheap shots. I forget who tried to blindside talbot, maybe haley? But that had the bertuzzi incident written all over it. When you drop the gloves, come up from behind and try to clock someone in the side of the head, that isnt fighting for retribution, that is intent to injure. And how about when tangradi got elbowed in the head, collapsed, and gilles jumped on him and kept punching him, then trashed talked as tangradi was on his hands and knees. The guy probably has a concussion. No place in the game for that.

When Cooke hit Savard last year, which was a dirty hit and he ABSOLUTELY should have been suspended, the next game they played someone on the Bruins, dont remember who, fought Cooke, sent the message, and that was it. Thats hockey. Last night was not, and only proved the Islanders are the joke of the NHL.

I want to be mad at you - I really do. But you're not defending Matt Cooke - as most Pens fans do. He crosses that line far too much to be protected - and is it kind of what sparked this whole Pens/Isles fiasco? Or was it Talbot? Either way - the Isles stood up for themselves - which was good to see.

Now I'm not condoning everything the Isles did - but at least they stood up for themselves as opposed to a couple of Pens who just turtled (as a few of them do regularly).

Some of the nonsense will be dealt with - but good on the Isles for at least showing a pulse.

The NHL has a hard-on for the Pens - The Isles will be penalized a good amount because of it.

What I don't understand is why Godard will be suspended for trying to stop his goalie from getting tooled on. 10 games standard. Ridiculous.

Last night was exactly what guys like me and KPENN want to see because of our franchises, brings back memories from the 80's.

Really wish they had TSN with CBC hockey on in the US full time - Cherry is hilarious. Toronto/Montreal a bit of a snoozer - although Lupul dropped the mitts which was good to see if you're a Leafs fan. Although, Lupul probably got a concussion from straining his female parts.

There is a difference between standing up for yourselves, and trying to injure other players. I am not saying everything was dirty. But jumping on someone and punching them in the head while they are down AFTER they have already elbowed them in the head is completely uncalled for. And what one of their guys tried to do to Talbot was absolutely Bertuzzi like. That is not standing up for yourself.

This whole thing started because Talbot hit Comeau with a clean hip check the last game, but Comeau got hurt, and Johnson clocked DiPietro. So fine, fight, and get it over with, and play hockey. That didnt happen.

As far as Cooke goes, I am not going to say he has no place in the league. The guy actually has some talent. He can put in 15 goals a year or so. A third liner who can kill penalties, score 15 goals and play a physical, grinding game? Sign me up. But he HAS to tone it down and play with some restraint. I said from the second it happened the Savard hit was dirty, and the fact he wasnt suspended is a problem the league needs to address. I cant believe nothing happened. I am all for hard, physical play, checking, and fights, but shots to the head are dangerous. Savard may never be the same, and I cringe thinking that about Crosby. And many others besides those 2. Hamhuis just got one too I believe.

Look at some of my previous posts - odd man rushes caused by D-man pinching and being too active offensively - making a bad decision - caused 2 goals today. That and Marchand gave one away.

Not to say that the Bruins should have won - but played a much better game - 2nd period was the problem today - gotta fix it and move on.

Weird - rare appearance from the Wheeler/Ryder/Seguin line. Played very well today.

Bruins gave the 'wings some gifts for sure...they need to fix this fast...not a very fundentally sound game.

Well the Bruins have always had trouble with teams with great team speed - habs and wings come to mind off the bat. Their d-men are just not fast, and the wings forecheck was a killer. They'll continue to look like that against the fast teams so long as Stuart, Boychuk, and McQuaid are back there. Good steady d-men but lack the footspeed and vision to be able to make the right play consistently.

The Wings look good - like they have for the last decade.

The Bruins will be fine - they fare much better off with the bulk of the teams in the Eastern Conference. If they were playing SJ, DET, even VAN in the playoffs- they'd have some trouble containing them. But when you get into a playoff series with the likes of WAS, PHI, BUF, or even TB, they play a game that suits the bruins pretty well in comparison.

Foppa retired after his 2 game stint.

And the Flyers aquired Kris Versteeg from the Leafs for a 1st and 3rd in this years draft

Interesting about Versteeg. I am not a fan, but that is my opinion.

I was able to finally see the video of the Clifford/Cardillo scrap from yesterday. Clifford just isn't afraid of anyone.

I was suprised to see Pronger take such an ill-timed penalty after the Stoll hit. I know he felt it should have been called, but you don't take a penalty like that in a tight one-goal game with 7 minutes left.

Good game though. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and I was really happy I didn't talk any smack about this game. Quick was just incredible.

I love the trade. Him and Richards come playoff time are gonna be apart of a nasty checking line. He's a really good it on the Flyers. I could give a crap about a late 1st round pick in a weak draft.

Carbomb isn't really that good of a fighter. So i wasn't surprised by the result

I don't mind what he did. It was a pretty cheap hit and at the end of the day it's only 2 points. I like pissed off Pronger anyways.

Yeah it sucked. Flyers definately carried the play, but not much you can do when a goalie is on

Yeah Carcillo isn't a great fighter, but he has quite a bit of experience and seeing Clifford so willing to take all comers is fun to watch. Clifford just has that crazy look about him that you just know he loves to fight.

Those two points mean a lot less to the Flyers than they do to the Kings so it was all good. Quick was definitely on, though.

Kaberle to Bos rumors gaining some real steam today - no really - although they've been rumored to get him for 2 years now - it might actually happen. I'm afraid to see what the B's will be giving up - it looks like Wheeler and a pick. If that pick isn't a 1st - I'd be happy with it. If it's Boston's 1st, I won't be too happy. If it's Toronto's 1st - well, thats just not going to happen.

Big game tonight - gotta get off the schnide and beat the lowly Isles. End the losing streak..please.

Don't turn your back on the Isles! You may get sucker punched.

I have also heard the Kaberle rumors. From what I have read if something is going to happen, it is going to happen soon.

Yeah I don't think the Isles will be playing that on the edge (for lack of a better term) tonight - obv the league will be watching tonight I think.

I'd like to think Kabs will be awesome here - but something smells like he won't fit in this system - although all we need is a PMD and someone on the PP.

It's funny how this is an ND forum but all I seem to do is bet on games and talk hockey. Huge fan of the Irish, but I'd rather read peoples opinions on football I guess.

A couple years ago at the deadline the Flyers had an agreement to send Carter to Toronto for Kaberle. Thankfully Kaberle wouldn't waive his NTC

Here come the Devils! Why we had to wait until literally the last possible time to get on track I have no idea. But let's pull of the miracle!

Hell ya I was going to PM. Stinks that Johnny McClain was a bad hire. Just imagine when Parise comes back.

Just hope he comes back 100% and helps us push into the 8th spot. No one would want to face us in the postseason if we make it into the 8th seed as hot as we are and would have to continue to be and having Marty and an impressive Hedberg between the pipes.
