Savon mentioned that the Rutgers OL class was important to his desire to commit. Well they just lost their best OL to Florida State. Josue Mathias swaps Rutgers for FSU. Good luck Savon.

Agreed. I mean what kind of o-line do they have compared to us, UNC & Mich St? I would think that staying close to home and representing his area were important to him but only he knows why Rutgers was the best fit for him. FSU's class is ridiculous by the way.

No doubt. They have a very realistic shot at landing Tony Stewart and Tim Jernigan on NSD.

So not to bring up old news, but after seeing these 2 things i'm glad we didn't get Savon.

Savon Huggins picks Rutgers to headline banner class | Pressbox

“I know they needed a new offensive coordinator because they didn’t really run the ball as you can see,” said Huggins. ‘[Jeremy] Deering had what, 32 carries in one game as a wide receiver. That really didn’t sit well with me and I told Coach Schiano that. You guys will really lose me if you don’t hire somebody or something doesn’t change. Regardless if you hire a new one or not I want something to be changed. They changed it for the better.”

Sounds like he wanted the entire world flipped upside down for him. When a single recruit can affect a grown man's job, that is embarassing for that program. When he can cast out demands on who he wants to play for, that's also embarassing.

Did he sign his letter?

I heard there was an X on the signature line. Rutgers typed in the Savon Huggins part.

I kid, kinda.

That's an eye-opening quote to say the least. Demanding change???? Seriously? There were some red flags with Savon, as shown when he said he wanted the ball 20-25 times as a freshman, and he meant it. I took it like, well, high school kids are cocky - hell, the best players in the world know they are good and they probably are full of themselves but they are the best for a reason. So I still wanted him b/c most great RB's want the ball - a lot. The talent is worth the ego in many cases (not all).

But having read more and more about him and his quotes, and then seeing pull that b.s. switch with the North Carolina hat (a pure punk-arse move), I'm fine with him not being here. Good luck to him and all that, but seriously, putting it all together, it's a little much for my tastes...

We all see why he didn't end up here. He is not a BK type guy. Very selfish he will soon see that won't get him far in life.

That switch move was almost as arrogant as making your commitment at the College Football Hall of Fame after arriving in a stretch Hummer.

If that was his mom to the right, she didn't look all that thrilled with that punk-a** move.

I had a post deleted a few weeks about Savon because I suggested that he was a me-first player because of quotes and videos that I saw of him. Maybe I wasn't so far off. No need to apologize guys.

Arrongance is fine. I'll take someone who is full of confidence 8 days a week. You validate or denigrate your greatness on the field.

Someone who puts on a school's hat, then throws it aside is a clown. Has nothing to do with him being a great talent or confident cat. People put their time and money into selling you their university, even if it was Butch Davis. Put 10 hats on the table if you like, and lean towards each one if it suits you. Don't put on the hat, tho. Punk a** clown.

part of me wonders...
The highest touted recruits in every class are constantly harassed and bugged not only by fans, but reporters, recruiters, coaches, etc...
I honestly wonder if they do "the hat dance" as kind of an "F U" to the people, fan bases, and so on that have really irked them the most.
I'm not saying it's right, but I wonder if that has anything to do with it..

To FL: whether you are right or not, I like the style of thinking---bringing in wider dimensions of a person's thought processes. If more of us would reflect on some of these "non-understandable" behaviors like you just did, maybe we'd be more moderate in our commentary and even learn something. That doesn't mean that the kid made a good choice. The choice was pretty low-class. But thinking like yours gives us a better chance of assessing how poor the behavior was, and whether we should write someone off for life. Kudos.

Someone needs to humble this kid. And my guess is that some junior or senior defensive player on Rutgers' roster might do that on the first day of fall camp.
