Nothing is confirmed on II. It appears he switched to OU though

Might be tough to know for sure either way for a bit. He, like Niklas, like talking to recruiting services as much as the Egyptians like their present government.

Can't really blame the kid... ... , only DB in OU's class. ...

Yep.

And last year they took 4 DBs and 4 ATHs

In '09 they took 5 DBs.

OU's 2010 Rivals Roster shows a bunch of young DBs, a lot of depth. I don't follow the Sooners so I don't knowt the quality of the depth but they've got lots of people.

Are there any DB's with any interest in the Irish that we can snag at the last minute or are we probably just going to roll with what we've got and extend one more 5th year guy?

We will have to roll with what we have. We have Gray,Walls,Lo Wood, Smith we will be ok this year next year we will have to pick up an extra DB like we will have to do with RB.

Maybe offer Tamani Carter, see if he wants to keep playing with Eliar?

Oh well. Maybe he'll regret it, maybe he won't. Of all the guys to lose... he's in my top 5 that I'm ok with losing. Some might disagree with me, but seriously in the grand scheme of things we will be just fine.

I hate that he switched but that makes room for an already experienced 5th year. Let's go.

A 5th year player at a position where we already have decent depth. That is the real problem here, besides losing a great player in Bennett. We are already painfully thin in the defensive backfield as it is. Gray and Blanton are done after this year, leaving Lo Wood, Jamoris Slaughter, and Zeke Motta and those in the incoming class as the only DB's on the entire roster, with Motta and Slaughter exhausting their eligibility the following year.

There is a lot of talent in 2012. I liked Bennett's size for sure and I agree that a blow has been dealt. I'm still loving Ronald Darby as RB/CB. Whichever would suit me.

McCarthy is also in the same situation as Motta and Slaughter.

Your right, oversight on my part. Thanks for the heads up. CB's are the real concern either way though. I am sure Collinsworth could move to S if he had to.

I think you might see Slaughter used as a corner next year, while Smith and Motta play safety.

Kelly and the others have a great opportunity to recruit great talent for the class of 2012 at the positions of CB & RB. ND will be attractive for all of the well known reasons and the potential of early playing time. Hopefully, they focus on those positions and ILB in the next class.
